Lambda sensor replacement

Hi guys

 

How easy is it to replace a Lambda sensor? Do you need to do any soldering or is it just loosening a bolt and putting the newbie in its place?

 

Its a VR6 and the replacement sensor is the Bosch 0258-003-267 (reliably obtained from another post!)

I could be missing what you are really asking, but un-plug the wiring harness (should be attached to the rear engine mount - on right hand side of car) and unscrew the actual sensor from the exhaust.

Yeah, what Philly said. A doddle unless you've bought a generic sensor without a plug, then you'll have to splice your plug on.

No, that is what I am asking! Just reading about it, it could be a really difficult to get out, possibly seized into the exhaust... Most of the posts about it elsewhere seem to suggest penetrating oil, hammers and a small blow torch :-) Is a length of 611mm enough for the cable, seems to be a few choices?

Some lambdas can strip threads when coming out if they have been in a while and are usually super tight so yeah some heat will always help. Just cut the wires and get the ring end of a spanner on it.

Happily announce it came out without too much trouble and the car is back after months of replacing the MAF, ISV, temperature sensors... attempting to sort the running problem!
