Bengould 10 Posted August 23, 2016 Hi all, Might be a stupid question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Is the starter & Alternator the same on a 1.8 16v and VR6. As far as I can tell the alternator is different. One eBay seller says the starters are the same, but a load of others say they are different. Anyone know for sure??? Cheers Ben. VEEDUBBED 0 Posted August 23, 2016 Defiantly different both alternator and starter motor, the starter motor is longer and has a different nose that bolts onto the very different vr6 gearbox bell housing.. Alternator is a 120amp job is opposed to the 90amp 16v version and is physically different too, totally different mountings as well. If you want I could photo them all side by side.
