drivers window gap at top - glass dropping (not hinge end)

Recommended Posts

Since I have had the car when I use the drivers side window it does not fully go up at the top and i have to physically pull the glass up the last 5-10mm or so to get a good seal when i get out. it is infuriating if you have used the window and then go down the motorway as you get an whistle sound.

Anyway I have had the drivers door card off today because I had a minor leak in heavy rain and I wanted to check the membrane so thought I would have a look at widow glass too...

All seems ok, rollers are ok, the only movement/freeplay i can find is with the plastic bracket that is attached to the glass the clip appear to have broken on one side

Is this likely to be the culprit and is the only way to repair it via new door glass?

see diagram below of offending bracket (circled in red)

I had the same problem years back when some **** broke into my corrado.

They not only ripped off the door handle but broke the drivers glass too..

After a week of head scratching it turns out that a tiny nugget of glass was lodged in the door frame seal, impossible to see..

Does the glass close at an angle? Or is the gap at the very top level?

It may be the top yellow plastic trim in the middle has broken. I'm afraid this is a regulator-out job whicj is really not a lot of fun

Ok now I know what the piece of yellow plastic was in the Hoover after I sucked up the glass from days gone by from the bottom of the door

Is the yellow bit part of the regulator?

Oh dear sorry to hear that :(

I've put a thread of how to repair the mechanism with a piece of nylon (self lubricating)

I made one for my old regulator which worked well but then i ended up fitting another regulator
