16v engine cooling fan constantly on

Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of help, the fan on my 16v is constantly on, the red and white (low temp) wire has a constant 12v on both the fan end and the end that connects to the sensor on the radiator.

Ive had a google and everywhere seems to suggest the rad sensor, but should there be a 12v on the rad sensor?

Cheers.

What happens if you unplug the rad fan sensor? Stands to reason it always has power as if the temperature is high enough it needs to keep the fan running (fan afterrun).

If you unplug it and the fan stops, it's your culprit.

Well that was my thoughts but it still runs whilst the sensor I plugged/unplugged.

On the 1.8 16v there is a fan run on sensor on the front offside of the cylinder head. Looks like a brass nut on a bracket with a brown wire. If this goes faulty the fan will run continuously. Disconnecting it should stop the fan.

yeah sorry for the confusion, was typing it up on my mobile!, i meant the original loom was a 16v 2 speed and not the VR6 3 speed.

My thoughts is a relay is causing the issue but im not 100% on which relay it would be.
