gollfy1 10 Posted May 23 I have a 93 G60 which over the years always seemed to lose a little water but never seen any leaks anywhere. Recently after recommissioning, I am having intermittent starting issues were it will take quite a lot of turning to start. Also other times when it has been left is starts up a little rough for around 30 seconds. I'm of the opinion that water may be getting into the bores causing this issue as its had new sparks and fuel filter and after starting seems to run fine. I know there is various test that can be done but would you say a compression test or a head gasket test kit would be best to try in this case to prove my theory? I am also going to leave for a few days and shine a torch in to see if i can see anything as I have not got an inspection camera. Cheers All
Dox 28 Posted May 23 (edited) It does sound like HGF, if I remember correctly the 8v suffers with cylinder 1 (cam belt end), remove the plugs and check the tops of the pistons for carbon, a clean piston would indicate an issue as it’s been steam cleaned by the coolant. hth Edited May 23 by Dox
