dr_mat 0 Posted August 16, 2004 Hi all, Anyone know if the Passat III (92>) VR6 power steering rack is the same as the Corrado VR6 one? Also, what's the general opinion on the quality of Lucas remanufactured parts...? Worth the risk for non-OE, or to be avoided? Cheers, :) M.
dinkus 10 Posted August 16, 2004 There have been quite a few posts on steering racks, certainly the refurbed ones are a waste of money, but not sure about the Lucas ones... I'd imagine they're not great but it's got to be cheaper than on OE one which are a few hundred £
yellowslc 0 Posted August 28, 2004 These are actually fairly easy to rebuild (zf racks), the kit is available from the dealer. Yes the passat vr should have the same rack. zf rack bodies are aluminum and "waffle" patterned while the trw ones are smooth steel bodies.
MoonlightVR 0 Posted August 29, 2004 I don't think the Passat one is the same mate. Mk3 Golf and Vento VR are though. Best to check on Ekta if you have access to it. Golf ones appear on ebay every now and then.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 29, 2004 Yeah I got my new VAG rack (non-recon, brand new) from ebay for £150. The guy sold is as being for a MK3 GTI but the part number came up as Corrado VR6 on EKTA 6, so a result there 8) I believe 1 rack fits all of the MK3 platform cars and the Corrado.
