longman 0 Posted December 23, 2002 i have a similar starter problem, but mine seems like cold weather or something as it starts fine when the engine is warm but not when cold in the morning etc. i had it tuned changed the plugs dist cap and rotor arm but still no joy. mine turns over but will only eventually start with a little pushing on the accelerator pedal. ANYONE HELLPPP... 1.8 16V
Banana Man 0 Posted December 23, 2002 Sounds like a fuel problem to me have you tried changing the fuel filter that might help!!!
longman 0 Posted December 23, 2002 i had thought about it possibly being that, as to me it does sound like there is a fuel problem maybe even the pump not pushing enough.
Banana Man 0 Posted December 23, 2002 When you switch on the ignition can you physically hear the fuel pump whine for a couple of seconds if you can then the fuel pump should be working properly!! Try the filter it only costs a few quid and if you dont know when it was last done then it's probably worth changing anyway!!!
longman 0 Posted December 24, 2002 yes the pump definitely works and does the intiallization bit, so i shall try the filter as you suggested. cheers mate, nice banana car
Banana Man 0 Posted December 24, 2002 Yeah try that first might save you alot of agro in the long run they only cost a few quid so get it done and see what happens if it works and cures it, it hasn't cost you the world!!! If it dont solve the problem then you can start looking at other alternatives!!!
