stormseeker 0 Posted May 18, 2003 just idly reading back through some of the previous owner's service history for my C (must remember to get a life... :? ) and saw that it has had its "Bowden Cable" replaced (part description on main dealer receipt). Never heard of one of those before, and the part number's not found in ETKA. More precidesly, 2 of them, part nos. 535 881 596A at £11.29 each. Any ideas on what/where/who/why a Bowden cable is? Handbrake cables maybe?

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 19, 2003 A Bowden cable is just a cable inside a sheath to operate a remote device, such as chokes, brakes, gear selectors etc! I would imagine for £11, the one you had done was the bonnet release one as I'm pretty sure the gear cable would be more? Kev
