Not mine, but if you look on gumtree for corrado red leather seats, there are some for sale for £150 on the south coast. I didn't know that red leather was an option - it isnt't in the dealer brochures i have for 93 cars onwards. They're not my cup of tea tbh but hey what do I know... http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/vw-corrado-red-leather-seats-that-fit-a-mk2-golf/1057953049

Storm Grey VR6 MOT... passed yesterday... phew!

Cheers fellas. The VR is a good honest car with character and planning to be a keeper. Saw a GT2 and a GT3 in Duesseldorf today. But no Corrados spotted yet...! -
Took the car for it's MOT this week and it failed on 3 counts :( 1. CV Joint boot 2. Ball joint 3. 2 brake pipes excessive corrosion Got it sorted for two hundred nicker including the test / retest and tracking; parts were reasonably cheap, labour being the main expense. Car corners a little better now also. :D Could have been worse I suppose so happy with a relatively light escape. Guy at the garage commented on how it was in very good condition for its' age (which was nice....) Added some Redex to the fuel tank earlier in the week to give the injectors to a bit of a clean and after 150 miles of motorway cruising it seems to be running a little more smoothly than before. Odometer just crept over 91k yesterday which is 1k miles of happy driving for yours truly. Kids still loving it also. Planning on mooching over to Elsecar later this month - holiday already booked.

A short update - finally stripped back the old foam... Traced templates using grease-proof paper, then cut out the shapes from the foam sheet and voila. Not quite perfect but it looks 100% better than previously. Given the outlay on materials was less than £20 I am quite pleased with the result. And the grey coloured foam co-ordinates with the paintwork! Next jobs are to check out the passenger window regulator and then get the alloys refurbed. Happy days.

Ray, I have just about finished stripping the old adhesive from under the bonnet (95%completed) and have bought some 12mm Fireseal fire retardant acoustic foam sheet with self-adhesive backing (easyfoam). Will let you know how I get on with cutting out the shapes and fixing it on - should have it done by tomorrow hopefully. I know others have used the foam faced with foil but my DIY skills are limited so hopefully my choice will be relatively straightforward. Good luck on finding a plate that is reasonably-priced. Cheers.

Thanks guys. A few more pics taken over the past couple of days (assuming I have uploaded the images correctly this time) and a couple from under the bonnet...the foam glue is a bit of a pain to remove - I found white spirit, a paint brush, an old storecard for a scraper and some wd40 to finish off is working best. And 3 hours at least. Engine bay reasonably tidy imo...

Hmmm - sorry - I previewed the posting and it had a picture embedded so must have done it wrong. Does this work now?

Happy New Year guys. My best Christmas present this year from my wife was the above pictured plate. As the car was for my 40th birthday it is quite apt. I have always been a bit of a sceptic on the topic of private plates but how could I say no to this generous gift? Over the hols my under bonnet foam has given up the ghost (disintegrates when you so much as look at it) so my next job over the coming days is to scrape off the old and replace with some 12mm fireproof foam. Also my passenger side electric window is going to need some attention as it only goes about half way down before stopping. Have tried wd40 down the runners but no joy. Could it be a replacement window regulator is required? Appreciate that there have been several posts on this topic but appreciate some views before I try taking the door card off (it's been about 15 years since I last messed around with door cards so I am a little nervous about making a balls of it!). Weather forecast seems good tomorrow so will go for a cheeky blast I think....

Dudes I'd be up for a meet in the new year (once the roads are a little less salty of course...). The VR6 has been holed up for the last month and I am itching to give it some beans again...

Evening gents. Thanks for the welcome. Yes I did buy it from a photographer in Sheffield. You don't see that many Rados on the roads so good to hear there are people in the vicinity. Used to work in Sunny Rotherham btw. Cheers.

Hi folks. Thought I'd join the forum to see what's going on in the Corrado scene in the Republic of South Yorkshire...! Bought a standard 94M plate VR6 in storm grey with 90k on the clock this summer after deciding to take the plunge back into VW ownership after a break of about 15 years. In the 90s I have owned a Mk2 Scirocco Scala, a Mk1 Scirocco Storm and a Mk3 Golf Gti 16v but always hankered after a Corrado VR6. Bought the car mainly as a weekend toy and haven't regretted it so far. The kids in particular love the car and the pop-up spoiler is a favourite. I think the performance/ soubd of the VR6 is fantastic and always brings a smile to my face (as well as a few 'man' stares). The car is in pretty good nick - no rust to speak of - and has a couple of small(ish) things to sort out - passenger window sticks half way down and the air vent control unit needs attention, plus the speedlines could do with a refurb in the spring. Other than that it goes like a beast. Would be pleased to hear from like-minded people in the area to chew the fat and meet up when the weather gets better. Cheers. Jay
