Spotted a dark blue G60 heading westbound on M180 tonight around 5.30pm. Plate J18* AWR.

There's a thread on Ed. 38 which suggests that this was the final year for the Elsecar Mega Meet. Shame.

Ray - hope you get the C sorted out soon. Planning to pop over for a couple of hours tomorrow morning - found a few pics from last year... MOT passed today with NO advisories. TFFT. Oil and filter change and she's purring again. Got 35mpg going to work as well this morning, admittedly taking it steady. Reduced to 29 coming home due to post MOT excitement. Got "blown away" on the M18 by a Jag F type S. Seriously quick car and sounded brilliant. And so it should for the money. Next job is to get the B12s fitted...

Where do you work Ray? Aldwarke? The golf rallyes were worth a look last year and there were a few others nice motors too. I don't think I'll get a pass this year though as we are going to see the outlaws...

There's a black one (not mine) on UK ebay going for £97+ P&P at the moment. Wowsers...

Re the Daytona, I personally think they are one of the great classics. I first saw a red one in the Paddock at Oulton Park in the late eighties during an AutoItalia race day and the memory has stuck with me ever since. Each to their own of course but for me it is right up there. The Merc is also fantastic I agree. :thumbleft:

Yesterday a couple of things arrived in the post... 1. Warning triangle (OE spec) - thanks Lilfuzzer, and 2. Bilstein B12 prokit Was originally intending to keep it as standard as possible but having seen the recommendations on here have decided to take the plunge. Really like the look of a 25-30mm drop and hoping that my 90mm splitter will stay in tact once it's fitted. Car is SORN at the moment but as soon as it's fitted I will stick some photos up.

P.s. Obviously a certain town in North Lincolnshire doesn't get past the swear word filter... Lol!

Saw a tidy Blue M Reg VR6 at High Street East traffic lights, S****horpe today. Driven by a grey haired, bearded chap...

Hi if they fit in the zip pocket on the top of the back seats I will take one. If you pm me I will paypal. Cheers.

This one is pretty cool imo...

Ray - it would have been wrong for anyone other than a South Yorkshireman to be the first to respond to this... :thumbleft: My vote is powder coated silver BTW

Drove to work this morning for a change and to clear the cobwebs before winter comes. No problems. At home time, started her up and put the sunroof on tilt to get some fresh air. Nothing happened. Tried to slide it and it worked only perfectly but only in one direction... So drove 35 miles home with sunroof open with one eye nervously watching the darkening skies for rain. Got home, sunroof still didn't work. Gave the alloys a wash. Tried sunroof, only for it to spring back into perfect operation. All part of the fun, eh? :)

Fitted new Exide Premium 075 battery today as previous battery had given up the ghost. Car instantly sprang to life and I drove to work safely in the knowledge that it would start again at home time. Bought a replacement used n/s air guide off ebay for 12 notes, which arrived today. I contemplated fitting but it got too dark to see. One for the weekend I think.

There's a nice Blackberry Pearl VR6 on ebay with 53k miles apparently. Looks v tidy... http://http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-Volkswagen-Corrado-VR6-53-000-Genuine-Miles-/121409706144?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c449518a0

I am 6'4" and to be honest there is very little legroom behind the driver's seat...and more often than not I drive with the sunroof on tilt! 6'6" may be a struggle I think but you won't know until you give it a go. Good luck anyway the noise of the VR6 is alone is worth it if you can fit in...

There's a 30k mile 1991 Tornado red G60 for sale on CarandClassic.co.uk for 10 grand... Located in the South West. Looks v tidy and seems a bargain compared to the one still up for sale for best part of 15k... I know the pricing topic has been fully debated on other threads recently but really? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C512572#

Hi if anyone has got a n/s splitter guard for a VR I would defo be interested. Noticed mine is missing whilst have got it on axle stands. Cheers.
-
Yep, am just going to fettle them with the wire brush. Cheers.
-
Cheers Ray. Have got wire brush fitting for drill and will give it a whirl tomorrow... Think the wishbone is accessible with the wheel off. Discs are also a little corroded around the circumference so will give them a quick once over too. You still 4x4 btw? I was looking at Koni str.t kit recently but have not done anything about it.

Make that Hammerite. Predictive texting....
-
Cheers - it is the "just remove" bit that worries me, given I have never attempted anything that adventurous and probably don't have the tools to do it, and most likely will make a balls of it... Hence the garage recommendation request. Am off to Wickes to get some Hammerstein and will see how I go.

Had a little look underneath this morning and found 3 areas of unsightly rust... and The sump I think I can sand down and repaint but the control arm and axle shaft look a bit more challenging... given my limited mechanical prowess I am going to have to get a garage involved. Is it more economic / advisable to get replacement parts fitted, or pay to get these stripped and powder coated? Any trusted workshops in South Yorkshire area that anyone can recommend? Thanks.

Whilst checking my tyre pressures this aft, I discovered air p!-sing out of my front n/s tyre valve. Took car to ATS in Donny and they sorted it out in a jiffy FOC - the valve had got stuck slightly. Got chatting to one of the techs who admired the motor and said he was in the hunt for a rado - current daily is a bora v5 and he had owned a golf vr6 in the past. Told him too check out the forum.
