  1. arr cheers g-man sounds like a good idea. When is a good time for you this week and does the health check include opening up the old charger as well? Im interested in getting a few things done for sure. ta
  2. update guys: Took car out today for a little test. Dont really want to be driving it hard with this problem but the misfire kind of issue has settled down. instead it just seems to progressively badly perform now if that makes any sense. Just seems reluctant to make progress really and just feels slow. Def reckon there could be a boost leak as can hear a lot of air wooshing. Im not sure where the boost reading is taken from n standard g60 but i finally made sense of the figures today and measured my boost level...well....i got a reading of (it might have gone over this but the max i ever saw it get to was 1790. Which apparently is (according to sns website) probably just under 11.6 psi. The charger is standard. So this tends to rule out a charger issue. Still making the knocking joise having warmed up though. Hmm... Thanks for all your help so far when I get some money may get myself down to gwerks etc. PS: Also get a slight movement in the clutch when pulling away slowly. Kind of jabs upwards a tiny bit. Any ideas? Not major at all.
  3. Solely? What is the reason for additional porting of the charger then? Im confused as to whether porting is for additioanl piece of mind or what.
  4. Sorry guys im in Hampshire! Yes I will try the fuel filter as well then I think. I checked the charger area and it has oil around the inside of the hose going directly into it. I thought this was expected? There were no signs of anything bad. I have a slight oil leak in that the underside of sump nad engine have a little bit of oil on. Saying that it hasnt leaked since the oil change yet so cant be that bad. Also, someone said about PAS pump gone...well...the power steering does make a lot of noise when it turns and i have some power steering fluid leaking underneath. I think. The ticking/tapping does sound engine or charger or osme kind of pully though. i dont know. Perhaps I should check my boost levels. I just cant get the mfa to give any readings like I should be seeing though in the guide to how to bring up the boost on mfa.   5. update: did an oil change last night and oil filter. Changing sparks today as well. Its still running badly with no low down pull and still misfires but only after running the car for a little while, i assume when it gets hot really. The most worrying thing is this knocking noise it has developed. It does sound like it is coming from the engine. But it could be somethign rubbing I guess? around the charger area. Do chargers develop knocking noises before they go bang then or do they just go one day? Im so upset about this. Cant believe I may have got a dog g60. I suppose I could limp down to this gwerks/pitstop that you guys say is great. Which is th eone on the south coast that is meant to be good....I get confused. I bet they are all booked up anyways :? :(
  6. This sounds a little like the problem I am having with my g60 in that its like driving a car with turbo lag until I hit 4000rpm or so. Ive found that im getting a misfire having run the car for a little while when it gets hot.
  7. kind of a ticking noise yes. Charger blown? How can I tell. I havent managed to test my boost pressure yet as cant get the mfa to do it. Every time I turn the car engine off the alarm/immobiliser doesnt like restarting the engine unless I do a whole get in teh car from scratch cycle. Dont really understand what you mean by the bonnet and where to look for all these things. Sorry :( God im so annoyed about this. nothing is going right with it yet.
  8. Took my new baby out for first real drive this morning. All was going fine until about 3/4s of the way through drive after about 20 minutes. I have a problem I think with performance anyway in that everyone always says g60s should pull from very low down. Well mine has to be revved a lot and feels more like a vr6 to drive. This morning after bout 20 minutes whenever I floored it, instead of suddenly getting the rush of boost at around 3.5 / 4k revs, it got to about 4.5k then suddenly stopped and revs wouldnt go any higher like it had run out of fuel and was making a spluttery kind of im buggered noise and dint rev any higher until I lifted off and on the gas a few times. Even then it would do the same a little more up the revs at about 5.5k. Then after this happened the car started to develop a knocking noise from under the bonnet. I had a look when i got out and couldnt really tell if it was coming from inside the engine or not. But basically it knocked fairly quickly at idle then when I revved it it would knock even quicker as the revs rose. Whether this is linked to performance problem I dont know. Also the bonnet wont close properly on the passenger side I just noticed. :( :( Not happy really. Feel like Ive bought a dog. Everything was fine the other day though. Please help Regards

  11. Hey guys. How much is one looking at to get the rear of ones car dewipered and debadged at a body shop then? Nothing more, just debadged and wipered, i.e. holes sprayed over and blended in. regards

  13. Thanks richie but It definitely is fully down / released - just higher up than expected. With regards to checking my knock, lambda, temp and vac lines and ecu vac line....where do I look for these things and how do I "check" them? :( Im v sorry im such a newb

  15. Wow thankyou phatvr6 for your quick reply! 8) How do i replace the the light switch led? How do I take the mirror off exactly? I dont have a haynes yet :roll: just lever it out at side? Dont want to crack it. What should I look for if doesnt work after wd40? As regards the stalks. thanks for that advice. Perhaps I will take the steering wheel off and have a little look. not sure what I should be lookign for mind. 4: Can I do anything about the handbrake cable? Ill put a "higher" / longer gearknob on then perhaps. 5: Ok thanks for this. 6: Yours sounds plenty good enough though doesnt it!
  16. Hi guys. Just bought a corrado g60 and i should be really happy as my dream car. Just a few little niggles to sort out. My main concern is the performance so far though. I am used to a mk1 golf gti (standard) with k jet throttle response. The corrado g60 seems if anythign slower than the mk1. Well FEELS that way. i know it probably is quicker. When I boot it in second, or any gear really, it doesnt have this low down pull people talk of with g60s. Instead, its like a really progressive pull, much like a vr6 in fact where it progressively pulls up to around 4-4.5k then really flies off. But Iam having to really keep the revs up to make progress. I wasnt expecting anything amazing as I know standard they could use mor epower, but it feels like it should be quicker really. Feels lathargic. I have tried to check my boost readings but cant work out how to do it using the guide often posted on this forum. I cant get numbers up that mean anything. (late spec g60 with digital milometre reading) The previous owner got a charger imported from belgium off ebay apparently. What implications are there running a foreign g ladder? they dont have different spec over there do they? Also, the throttle response is poor in the g60. I know they respond well to tuneing and an anti lag chip which i plan to do later on, but I want to make sure everythign is ok before tuneing. It really does feel a little lazy until throttle kept down for a while. Almost like a turbo cahrged car waiting to spool up. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
  17. Hi guys I have finally bought a g60 but have some queries and a few niggles to sort out. Your help would be very much appreciated. 1: How does one work the passenger side mirror? Mine are electric and the control on the drivers door says L and R on it. No matter what I do I can only electronically control the drivers mirror. I can hear the passenger one trying to work occasionally. but doesnt...is this a hard job to fix!? :( 2: When I switch on my sidelights the part of the switch with LED goes green (i think) but when i push it again to turn dips on, I dont get any colour in the led, and I dont think anything on the dash (clock area) indicates that they are on either. What should come on? 3: This is my main concern and annoyance! When I am driving along and trun the steering wheel say half a turn left or right at a certain point it will give a little click, and then do it again when centralised back. Its a kind of click you get as if the indicator was clicking back to reset itself having made the turn. it does this without touching the indicators though and keeps doign these slight clicks. very annoying! Any ideas? 4: My handbrake gets in the way when i change gear! Seriously! Is this a feature of corrados in that you do catch the handbrake when changing gear, or is my handbrake to high or my gear knob too low!? My gear knob has been changed to an aftermarket smaller one so dont know if this is the problem. 5: My horn doesnt work! The owner when he sold it too me said it was a spring clip that needed putting back in somewhere..any ideas? 6: I tried to test my boost reding using the guide posted on this forum I managed to search for, but I cant get it to give a reading anything like what numbers I should be seeing. Cant make any sense of it. Its a later spec g60 with digital milometer reading. please help! Would love to know what boost i am running. Any help with this much appreciated guys. Love this forum. so nice and helpful, just searching for the above probs brings no joy :( Regards x

  20. This is good avice keep it up. I think realistically, money wise, I cant afford the prices some people ask for VR6's to get a good one. Also fuel economy is an issue for me...I gather the VR drinks like a fish. VR turbo or 20 vt would be lovely but again id be kidding myself if I could afford this. One reaosn the VR does appeal to me is that didnt they all come with slightly nicer trim level and leather etc? Hmm...I think its going to be a case of Ill buy whatever comes up that is good at the time I can afford one. i mean I cant really go wrong with either can I.
  21. It is a battle of power im after though! Will all due respect. I love corrados and want to buy the one that Id be most happy with. id be a fool to pretend I didnt care about which would be best for speed given that the corrado is a performance orientated car. From what I ca make out this forum is well above pettyness to discuss properly which could be a better choice given their opinion. Thats all im after. Cheers 8)
  22. Also what else is different about the two cars? How much more well does the G60 handle if at all? They are lighter but a friend told me the corrado was designed around the VR lump hence the VR handles better.

More specifically, what is quicker GENERALLY (not bothered too much about 0-60, quarter mile times are good comparisons though) out of: Standard VR6 Vs Standard G60 Standard VR6 Vs G60 with stage 4 charger, induction kit, exhaust - about 190-200bhp VR with shrick and minor mods running about 220bhp Vs Fairly highly tuned G60 running about 220bhp as well. I went out in a VR corrado the other day. Very nice power delivery. Lazy and effortless pull to the redline. But very progressive. I think the G60 would suit my driving style more. Just want to know what it quicker in the above situations. I think the VR is a better car out of the bag so to speak, but I know I would atleast mod the g60 to 200bhp. And probably wouldnt touch the VR as it costs a lot to extract little power out of them from what i can gather. Opinions welcome. I know this is repeating an age old debate. Would like some fresh opinions as have read up on previous debates already.
  24. So Henny, you gained an extra what half a second to 60 using the VR 1st and second? Or more? Did it/does it affect your quarter mile times would you say? Im looking seriously at this mod but Dont know if I can justify the expense for what little benefit you get given that this would be more of my fun daily driver rather than a "I care about every last way of gaining drag times" kind of thing.
