    Heater Matrix

Check for a build up of leaves/crap in the scuttle area. My old C was leaking and turned out the seal under the black air vent had broken down and was letting water in with heavy rain. Your problem sounds to be a leak with heavy rain rather then a matrix problem.
  2. Thanks guys. At this stage I am in such a habit of reaching for first then reverse I dont even know if there is a problem anymore. Time for a fluid change all the same.
  3. Sometimes when engaging reverse I get a bad crunch. Its normally when the car has being sitting ticking over while I open the garage door and I jump back in and go to grab reverse. So what I am doing lately is selecting first then reverse and it slips in without any noise. Is this anything to worry about. I'm planning on changing the fluid soon so that might help.

    Clutch

Mine does this sometimes too :( I slip my foot under the pedal and it lifts back no problem.
  5. Slide the retaining clips from the plastic housing and the two sensors should lift out with a bit of a tug. Inspect the rubber o-rings and replace if they are worn or split. Just make sure the water is not hot ;)
  6. The lead from GSF are recommended by some of the guys here. Think they are called Beru. I got bosch plugs, leads, cap and arm for under 100 euro and the car runs sweet as. It did have a bit of a stuttering problem when you backed off the throttle and back on but its fine now.
  7. I feel very sad after reading DanVWs post  I know how it feels when things go wrong one after the other after the other etc etc but to have just bought the bloody thing. It wasn't friday the 13th or did the trip read 666 or something
  8. Yeah Paddy you can connect the two pipes and bypass the matrix. We had a banger mk2 and we had it like this for months but it was f'n cold. Otherwise as you top up the coolant bottle it will just piss out the matrix again as the engine heats up. Id recommend getting the carpet up and dumping the sound proofing as it gets soaked and stinks to high hell. Mike on vagdrivers has found a place that can supply new stuff - look up his thread about the leak in the mk1. Touch wood I have not had to do the job on a C but did it my old mk2 Golf. Not such a bastid as people say but was time consuming and working upside down is a pain.
  9. Wow thats an impressive set up. What sort of price you would you put on building the motor?? Is it your demo car? Hats off to you dude :)
  10. Have clocked up over 6000k driving through France and North Spain. We will be returning home soon and its charger rebuild time. Touch wood no problems at all with her except the battery which went dead while the car was in Birriatz airport for over a week. We were stuck for an hour until some nice french dude from Eurocar lent us his booster pack. We haven't used the alarm since and all is fine - dam clifford. We made good time on the French motor way. Dont worry, I had slowed down for this pic ;) Taking a rest somewhere in the Basque country. Aircon would of being such a nice luxury to have for this trip. After missing my turn to head to Galicia I found myself on the way to Madrid in 40+degree heat and a barren landscape surrounding me. Thankfully I found this shadow to pull over and let us both cool down - me and the car. So after a few bottles of water and some tortilla I had picked a route to get me back on track. Unfortunatly for me it was not a motorway and a speed limit off 100kmh was strictly enforced. The heat was just torture and you can see from the landscape its totally barren. It took me over an hour before I got off this desert road and combined with the heat it was an interesting experience. It was hot for me but these bikers must have being really feeling it in their leathers. At least I could stick my head out the window but then the air wasn't much fresher outside despite the speed. Some pics from up in the mountains in the Basque country - what a beautiful place. The north of Spain is so different when compared to the south. I'd recommend to anyone to pay it a visit. Clamped at the Beach. Dont worry the BBS were fine :) Hiding in the woods in Galicia Big shout has to go out to the main man Matrín who I met one day at one of the outdoor swimming pools in Galicia. He recognised the car from pics I had posted on the Spanish Corrado forum and was very keen to chat with me. So much so he risked his life by throwing himself in front of the C while I was cruising home. Some man. Anyway, he was kind enough to lend me the LHD headlights from his second C so I could get the car passed through the ITV. Dont you just love the Corrado / VW community. Were else would you get a complete stranger offering you pieces of his car just cause he likes your car. Here are some pics of his rather tasty Corrado from Switzerland. So the C is booked in for an oil change and its off to Cherbourg for the ferry home. Its about a 1000k from Bilbao and we should manage that in a day. Have to say the car has being great and it will get a long deserved rest and some TLC when I get her home. All the best Mark
  11. Mine started making a grinding/beraing noise after a 2000k trip through France and across northern Spain. Thought it was the charger so was afraid to drive it. Another 3000k later and its still driving well and making great boost with no oil in the hoses. I investigated and it looks like one of the plastic pullys needs some greese. When I get back to Ireland I'm planning on getting the charger sent to JMR and Ill have a look into replacing the plastic pully. So I have just about covered 6000km in under 3 months and its going fantastic. Didnt miss a beat all the way and Im bulling I bought that expensive tool kit. Will be doing a 1000km trip next week from Bilbao to Cherbourg so fingers crossed. Its booked into for an oil change before departing and thats about all I can do apart from praying really really hard :)
  12. My engine is stock (apart from chip stage4 and pulley). Airbox etc intect. And it whistles when driving hard between gear changes. Its pretty cool. My old one did it too and again was totally stock. I removed the boast return and lost the whistle :(
  13. Can anybody tell me how the supercharger from a G60 weights? Im trying to remember if it was 12 or 10kg. Thanks Mark
  14. Thanks guys. I am quite happy with it and the interior is my favourite and its so comfy. The body is not perfect but this car is going to see a lot of miles so any kind of body work can wait. Just the odd car park ding but I am being a bit picky. I have my fingers crossed the charger holds out. The car pulls really strongly and the boost pipes have a nice sticky coat of lubricant. I just dont have the time to send the charger off and refitted before I hit the road. It wont hurt to join the AA though :-)
