1. Been having a bit of an odd issue on my '92 VR, its quite intermittent and has done this a few times over the last week but I've not had a chance to look at it yet. I'll be driving in 5th at around 50mph and its around when the car is warming up, the power will just drop and feel like there's nothing, then pick up and drop a few times and then either go back to normal or I'll pull over and let it idle or turn it off and when I turn it back on it seems to be fine again for a few days.

My first thought is fuel filter as I don't know when this was last done for sure and maybe fuel pump relay, anyone else got any suggestions? Cheers guys!

  2. Interesting, glad yours is sorted now, I'll check over all the fuel lines and soak my ISV overnight and then swap it for the pattern one to see if that helps, and I'll have a look over the fuel lines as it does seem like a fuel/air problem due to the popping exhaust. I'll let you know how it goes

  3. Update: I have now changed the plugs (they were absolutely ruined, some of the worst i've ever seen), the coil pack, and the ISV for a new one, the car will now start only if you give it throttle, and you can hold the throttle to keep it running, backing it off to around 1200rpm and you can hold it there on the gas but as soon as you let go it will cut out, the exhaust is still popping as well so I guess the mixture is still off.

I'm sort of clutching at straws now, next things I can think of are MAF, lambda and temp sensor. After that I'm pretty much out of ideas, although I was reading on vortex someone was saying that cleaning the ISV wrong can result in shorting out the idle control part of the ECU so maybe that could be something to do with it.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

  4. Bit of a weird one, I've got a '92 Corrado VR6 and today I had a few its to do to it, the idle has been hunting/ rough a bit recently, and the clutch slave cylinder had gone so I cleaned out the ISV and replaced the slave cylinder and changed the gearbox oil while I was there. Once it was back together I started the car and was going to go for a test drive when I realised it wasn't running right and was making an odd clunking sound and the exhaust was popping more than usual.

It can be driven but tries to cut out when the revs drop and has a definite misfire and is way down on power. If anyone has any ideas what to check I'd appreciate it cos I really can't think whats gone wrong. Here's a video of it idling and clunking and a video of it revving up and popping

    Cheers for any help!

  5. Thanks everybody!

A couple of weeks ago the three bolts on the triangle plate before the cat sheared and the whole exhaust basically dropped off, that was a noisy drive home!

I'd noticed early on that the entire exhaust was original and by extension in terrible shape, all boxes peeling and full of holes. So I figured I may as well replace the entire thing and managed to get a power flow stainless and de cat and a six branch for less that a pattern system would have cost me. I'm currently in the process of getting them on but waiting on slow delivery of new exhaust studs.

Future news is I bought clumpys compomotive as they're one of my favourite wheels on a Corrado and I also picked up the 312mm TT set up to go under them

  6. Long story short on Saturday my Corrado VR exhaust sheared at the join between the bottom of the downpipe and the cat, while removing the old exhaust I found that there's no plug on the car side of the lambda sensor, and someone in the past had put spades on to the plug on the lambda sensor side, but these have long since rotted and fallen off, so I need to know which colours go to which pins on the lambda

    Thanks for any help!

  7. Apologies for the big first post but I'm copying a couple from my thread on another forum,

So I was getting bored driving a 9n polo around and I knew an old bloke round the corner had had this corrado for a long time, and I'd always thought while walking past that he might want to sell it, so I took a chance and finally asked and he showed me around it needed a few things doing, heater matrix and a couple of bits for the MOT, and the bodywork is okay but not perfect, however he wanted less than £500 so I basically snapped his hand off. Its a 92 VR6 and theres a load of history and receipts with it, and its clear the guy has spent loads on it over the years.

Anyway I said when I bought it I'd just drive it around for a few months while I cracked on with the golf and see how I felt about wether to keep it or sell it. After saying that I found out it needed a spring for the MOT so I picked up a set of AP's for £100 and gave them a good strip, clean and grease

So with that and a few other bits done the car passed its MOT

I also had these 17" BBS that I got off ebay for a great price, they fit but I'd prefer 16's I think, anyway I had them on for a couple of days while I got a tyre for the speedlines

Next stuck my OMP wheel in it since it was just lying around in my room and the factory one was starting to come apart at the top

Got lots of inspiration for this at E38, if I sell the VZ's for enough i'd love some 16" compomotive TH's for this

Few little updates, car has had a cracked headlight and fogs since I got it, and the last guy had made a rubbish stealth shelf out of a massive bit of wood so I wanted a nice standard parcel shelf.

After being offered insane prices by a few breakers a friend told me she'd seen a 'rado in a local scrappy, I wasn't sure since they're getting rare but I went to have a look.

Long story short she was bang on and I got a headlight, a pair of indicators, and a mint black parcel shelf for £30

    New lights in

    Parcel shelf

And while I was there I spotted these in the back of the rado

it was lashing down at the time but I went back the next day and got the pair for £15 stripped off the leather and these were underneath

Pretty sure they're audioscape so I'm chuffed :)

Next I bought this cool US switch to go in the dash as someone had drilled a massive hole in the blank that originally went there

And I got a mate who works at VW ordered me some TT wiper arms with a nice bit of discount and I got them swapped over today, these are SO much better than the standard efforts, definitely a must do mod for Corrados!

Thats it so far, next on the list is brakes and giving the inlet manifold a bit of paint to tidy it up, let me know what you think

  8. Black shelf is best, bora chris could you pm me a picture?

And lilfuzzer how much would you want for your shelf and which blank as I've sorted the petrol one but still need the one that goes next to the headlight switch

  9. As title really, I have a 92 VR on a K reg, and I'm not sure if its early spec or late spec, the interior has the hazard switch on top of the column and the mk2 golf style stalks and heater controls, but it has late style fogs and indicators and the bonnet bulge goes the late way, is it a change over year or is my car definitively one way or the other? Its making buying parts a right pain! Anyone else's like this?

Also the car was owned by an old man for a long time before me so it seems unlikely that someone would have fitted late parts etc as its been pretty untouched

  10. Looking for a few bits to tidy up my Corrado, its a 92 VR so early spec I believe, I need:

    passenger headlight

    both indicators

    switch blank

    the 'unleaded fuel' blank

    a good condition parcel shelf

Let me know prices posted to Chester, or I'll collect if you're near enough, cheers!
