  1. Both look great. How did you come by the Karmann if you dont mind me asking?
  2. These are impressive sticks and gaiters! The Karmann badge without "wheel spokes" is the same design as mine. Also see that Easy has Oil pressure and battery gauge like mine. All very interesting. Will post a pic myself at some point but mine is all very standard. Keep pics coming. It is quite interesting to see everyone's take on their interiors......
  3. Cool. Would be fun for everyone to show their gear stick gaiters.......oo er misses
  4. Thanks for the pic Keyo. Interesting as yours looks smoother and less pitted than mine. Just less worn looking. I once had heater matrix issue and think coolant droplets got into some plastics and leather steering. The badge may have got pitted by that as certainly it did havoc to the leather on the steering wheel. Cheers.
  5. Hello, A question for those who remember when Corrados were almost new. The Karman badge on the gear stick housing on my Corrado, the clear/black plastic has fallen off leaving behind an all chrome base Karman badge. I am considering some kind of renovation to make it like new but I am keen to know what the badge actually used to look like. On mine the clear/black plastic that has fallen off is obviously old, worn and tired and quite thin and flimsy. The actual plastic almost looks pitted. What effect was the badge originally? Was it smooth, matt or a gloss finish? Was the plastic hard or pliable/rubber like? The Chrome behind does not really shine though, so I assume the clear/black plastic was probably originally a lot clearer, more transparent. Not sure if that made much sense but I would appreciate any suggestions with those that remember. I know, a long time ago. Thanks, Ben
  6. Hi - so is splitter PVC as opposed to ABS? Mine has a split in the corner which I had repaired before with Q Bond only to catch it again. So this time round I plan to reinforce the back with some plastic (once I have figured out what plastic will bond) and then tidy up the front with Q Bond again.
  7. Hmm. Maybe that was an attempt to partly alleviate the problem, but was not enough so VAG decided also reduce the depth of splitter as well.
  8. Interesting, did not know about the change in suspension height, helps explain it. I did check and looks like only 50mm available at the moment. Thanks for your reply.
  9. Hello all, I have a question which the deep pool of knowledge on here is bound to know. What was the reason for Corrados from 1994 onwards to adopt a 50mm splitter? I am guessing that 90mm on some mid-1994 and before were just too low (especially with the sleeping policemen the authorities seem to fall in love with as a stupid traffic calming measure) and a good many splitters were damaged as a result. So I am guessing it was simply a design tweak to prevent this but does anyone actually know for sure? My Corrado is a June 1994 with a 90mm splitter.....which has...split so got me researching a bit and I wondered if I actually had the right splitter on it (after all I did not own the first 9 years of its life). But since then I found that as per Chassis number with designation "R" - indicating 1994 - it was indeed the 90mm splitter as per original, probably one of the last batch to have 90mm splitter. Subsequent Corrados (Chassis number with designation "S" - which is 1995 I believe and maybe later 1994s) had 50mm fitted. I am going to do my best to repair the splitter I have as it seems 90mm ones are obsolete - unless anyone knows any better. I did think about getting a 50mm one initially as I understand it is a straight swap but decided against this since doing the research as it would not be in keeping with the original. But it will be good to get opinions (maybe 50mm would look better) but as per reason for posting would be interested to know the actual reason or reasons for VW to change splitter depth - practicality or looks or..... Sorry to bore you all to tears. Best regards.
  10. Hi Chris - I will be very interested in the rear set of badges (Corrado Script and VR6) in brushed metal finish.
  11. I sent a PM to Sprinter53 but not yet had a reply. Question I had is that it seems that in terms of the script badges there was never actually shiny chrome (non brushed) finish on the originals on Corrado. Is that correct, only red VR6, brushed chrome VR6, Painted Corrado script or brushed chrome Corrado script. Would be good for my education to confirm. Thanks.
  12. Any luck with Sprinter53 in terms of any badges left?
