From my experience with bosch is that there good but not that good, i had a new bosch battery put in last year and its all puffed out now only after a year, gone with a cheaper exide battery this time with a 3 year warrenty for £40.

Looking at the http://www.carstats.co.uk website , it does seem the fiat 20vt coupe is one quick motor, 0-60 = 6 secs 1/4 mile = 14.6 secs... and thats a standard one.... It would take a mean rado to keep up with one of these, then again can you really go from buying a Vw to an italian car which apart from the engine will probably fall to bits due to rust... IMO although quick they aint much to look at really and personally does not attract the same crowd, a few chavs near me own them... yes the same chav brigade that previously owned another one of my favourite cars the citreon paxo....

Nice motor! whereabouts in portsmouth are you? i live in waterlooville near portsmouth! 8)

Got the car booked in at g-werks on the 6th of december!!! :) Cant wait to drive the car after its had the work done and remapped...Now thats an early christmas treat hey!!!!
-
they do look the b*****ks! now thats good old english engineering! i work with CNC and that certainly is a nice job they have done!! and as far as jabbasport goes i dont really trust them anymore, i only bought one of their heads from a guy knowing fully that they dont do the work themselves! i know it sounds harsh and all but theyhave lost a lot of rep recently as regards to the g60 supercharger .....
-
Just came across this site , has a few details on the vw cnc heads! I am not sure if this is the company g-werks are using?? Found it quite interesting, also shows the G60 head aswell, hmmm maybe i should have waited and gone for one of these heads?? they look ace! http://www.cncheads.co.uk/

i had work done at "car cosmetics" near morrisons in horndean, had door, front wings and bonnet done, they actually did quite a good job, but like you said they dont seem interested, i think this is because most of them deal with insurance jobs hence the quick turn around and the amount of cars they do. its a shame really...
-
cool! thats the response i was looking for! you see, where i live i cant seem to find a decent bodyshop anywhere (portsmouth), ive found that alot of them can turn a car around pretty quick but many of them cut corners and can make a spray job look s**t, which takes the piss when your handing over a wod of cash over to them  Will be paying RW Masters a visit very soon i think :)

yeah i am guessing it will cost a few quid but at least thats it in terms of major engine mods for the moment...., and once its done its done, i can leave it alone for a while and enjoy it for a few years! Nice one with the kent cam aswell! :thumb right: i was thinking of a kent cam aswell, but i got a deal i couldnt refuse on my piper setup (piper cam, followers and vernier pulley) all for £200 off the same guy i bought my head from, which i thought was a good deal. Just gotta ring up darren at g-werks maybe friday and arrange everything, hes sorting a quote out for me at the moment i think. After all the engine work is done i have the enjoyable task of fitting my g60 / vr6 gearbox, that should be fun.... might leave that untll after christmas 8) hmmm... that reminds me i had better start looking for an approriate present for the girlfriend! :) i ve got alot of making up to do, ive been spending more time with my car than i have with her and i dont think she likes it much...
-
yeh i was considering going with a 285, but i felt that i didnt really need to go to wild with the cam as the main thing i wanted to sort out was the flow of the head with the larger valves etc etc. From what i can tell the car does seem to pull like a train from 2000 revs upwards ( even tho i havent taken it passed 3500 yet  ) i am just waiting to see how much its going to cost me to get all the other work done at g-werks (65mm toothed pulley kit, red tops, custom remap & charger rebuild) and then it will be sorted and i can concetrate on driving it.... i am so paranoid that something is going to go wrong i have to check under the bonnet after every time i have been out in the car.... :) so far everything is ok, although the car is running a little rough on idle which probably due to my poor attempt at timing the cams in properly... 8)

Has anyone ahd any experience with this bodyshop? it looks like quite a good bodyshop from what i can tell from the web page? http://www.rwmasters.co.uk I think i remember someone mentioning these guys a while back just wondered if anyone had actually had any work done by them in the past, i am looking for somewhere that actually takes pride in their work and is not just after my money like most other places i ve been to..... Cheers
-
i know!, i was quite suprised at those figures just goes to show what a remap can achieve with the rite mods. just noticed that theres water pissing out of the crappy plastic flange that holds the blue and black sensor on the head, and also there is a crack in the smaller one on the side! looks like i had better pay a visit to VW and get some new ones.. 8) well i could be worse....
-
i used the piper 270 cam in the end, i am running it in at the moment so i couldnt really tell you what the difference is at the moment, although i was told it gave good gains in power and torgue throughout the rev range, i will let you know once darren has finished with it after ive booked it in for a day at g-werks, prob gunna go ahead and get a 65mm pulley and toothed belt drive kit aswell now.... 8)

also , can anyone point me in the direction in what is the best way ( without an advance setting timing gun) to time the engine to the best i can get it? i cant seem to find anything on my bentley manual to guide me....
-
*that would be ford escort* bit tooo early for me i think!
-
thats alright then, when i first started it , it sounded like an old forescort cvh engine it was so tappety! tho that went after a while, i suppose it takes a little time for all the oil to circulate.. looks like i am going to have to take it easy for a month or so whilst its all running in aswell.
-
well got everything in today ( big valve head, camshaft etc etc) timed it all in etc, it seems ok although i think i need to adjust the vernier pulley slightly as i cant seem to line up the timing marks dead on?? when i went to start it i noticed watery deposits coming from boost return pipe, and also there was mayo on cap!! s**t i thought, i ve buggered the gasket, but it went after a while? is it a chance that this maybe just be water thats found its way into the oil passages when taking the head off? there was still a bit of water coming out when i removed head and this went into bores etc etc, i mopped everything up and i looked ok, so i didnt think anything of it...
-
Has anyone got any contact details / info for this bodyshop, i am in the hunt for a s**t hot paint job after ive got my engine work sorted, and have heard good things about this bodyshop, just how expensive are they? is it worth the extra cash in the long term?
-
looks like were all going to be having a go at the weekend then! :) lets just hope it all goes to plan... will it be ok to run the car with my stage 5 sns chip for a week or so until i get it custom remapped etc etc, i will take it easy i just dont wanna cause any damage with it running to rich / lean.. 8)
-
i havent got to worry about any of that, i am swapping my head over for a big valve item, witch i have already checked for warpness, so as far as things like that are concerned it should just be a case of swapping everything over, oh and fitting the pepr cam etc etc. :)
