s**t again, i noticed i have go oil pissing out of the boost return butterfly!!! is my charger fucked?? or would this have something to do with the fact oil has been pumping into the charger without it doing anything when i had my shredded belt!!! God i hope the charger aint shagged its only done 700 miles since darren rebuilt it!!!

i havent managed to fit my oil cooler yet!! the oil temp didnt go past 105 anyway so i think i was a bit lucky! I managed to put a new toothed belt on today all seems ok, after inspection it does seem that the cambelt tensioners i used where out of line so i have adjusted (using various washers) to suit and touch wood all is ok, although i ve still got to make up a packing bush to go inside the cambelt tensioner to beef up the M8 Bolt i am using so it doesnt move, that is the main area of concern at the moment!

Had an interesting journey to work! on the way my toothed belt for my supercharger decided to shred itself! meaning i lost nearly all power, no alternator and no water pump! got it back to work , and i noticed that there was water coming out of the expansion tank! i thought s**t the gasket has gone! would this have anything to do with the fact the pump wasnt spinning round for the short period of time the car was running without the water pump pumping....??? I think i have traced the problem down to the fact that the tensioner and the other pulley (modified cambelt tensioners) which guides the belt round was slightly out of line causing it to jump off, which in turn looks like it has managed to come of halfway and rub against the sharp edge on the cambelt tensioners that i am using to guide and tension the toothed belt. anyway i have a spare so it looks like i might be able to sort it all out... hopefully. 8)

its all fitted and functions 8) , i got my jet located just before the throttle body, i am using the small 0.1mm jet at the moment i havent yet really tested it to be honest, i am still waitng to get hold of some methanol and distilled water before i can start messing around with it properly, although i think i may swap the small jet for the larger .3mm jet?? not sure yet, think it will be a case of trial and error, the car is going back into g-werks soon to have a final map, so i will probably get it all sorted out whilst i am there and i can get it all setup with the custom remap to make the most of it. 8)

"Chris M" Whereabouts did you get your water and methanol From? Or can anyone else reccomend a supplier thats not expensive
-
i am not sure you would keep up even with a chip and pulley?? Their advantage is their weight, something the corrado doesnt have in its favour...
-
yeah it was the rod bearings i was on about.... 8) I managed to get some oil onto them before i put them in, i havent taken it past 4k anyway as i am runnin the charger in at the mo, so looks like i will take it easy untill i hit 500 miles or so... Thanks guys! Cheers

Just changed my crankcase bearings on the g60, how long should i run them in for? Cheers

fitted a jet into the said position yesterday on my spare one will post pics soon, i used the smaller of the two jets think it was the one with "1" on it as i only need a one jet setup now....

Has anyone tried to drill and tap into the bit that goes onto the throttle body? There is a radius the if drilled correctly could be directed straight into the larger / smaller butterfly in the throttle body? Would this work? saves me cutting up pipework ... 8)

can anyone remember what sized jet i need for the single stage setup, i bought the dual stage kit but after chatting with the guys at G-werks they reccomended i only need the single stage kit position just before the throttle body as i already have a big intercooler to do most of the work. Also, whereabouts can i get hold of some methanol without spending loads of money? i think i looke at one website who where charging £50 - £60 for 25L ! Sounds a bit much???
-
thats just stupid!!! What is this country coming to... You would think as a first offence they would caution you on something like that...
-
Yeah, still its better to be safer than sorry, daz @ G-werks pointed out that they mite need doing as there is a slight knocking on cold startup so i ordered the bearings straight away without really going to my first port of call at GSF... :) As For your engine veedubbed just make sure theres a bit of oil in and around the bores and cover the block up, it should be fine for a while i woul dhave thought.
-
oops! already ordered and paid from VAG!! oh shit! Price came to £68 from VAG !!
-
Havent managed to do the bearings yet, went into VAG on sat and they have had to order a set in for tuesday now...
-
Cant say the same for my wallet tho!! getting a bit of a bashing at the mo! :)
-
Well after a little wait the car went into G-Werks on tuesday, to have 65mm toothed belt conversion, charger rebuild , red tops and custom remap. Daz only managed to half complete the map as i have still got to run the charger in for 500 miles until he can complete the map and i ve also got to get my water injection fitted! Then it will go back in to finish the map... First impressions are that it sounds like a fucking jet plane with the toothed pulley on, what a difference it makes!! i now drive with the window open all the time and no stereo, it sounds that good!! And from what darren was saying its pretty damn quick!! :) the charger is still pulling 15+ psi with the big valve head!! A Big Thanks to Darren and everybody at G-werks!!!
-
by the way if anyone is wanting to use the "uprated" Mk3 Golf Tdi Crankcase bearings i managed to get the part number from darren at G-werks the other day when my car was being sorted out. Part no. 028 105 701 J (VAG) Apparently they are the same bearings that are used in the S3 aswell :)
-
From what i ve been told the best place to mount it ,is just before the throttle body on a single stage kit?
-
i was reading somewhere that the rod bolts may be re used once? i ve had the sump of before and i know what you mean about those three little bolts, they are indeed sods, but the whole process cant be as long winded as doing my cylinder head change... :) Let me know how you get on.
-
Due to change my crankshaft shaft bearings on the G60 within the next few days can anyone give me a few hints along the way so i dont fuck it up? It is just a question of removing sump then undoing the required bolts to remove cap and removing the old bearings and replacing with new ones? cant be that straight foward? 8)

yeah mate , mine sounds the same, a little farty when on idle but alot nicer when giving it some!
