    G60 Head gasket

from previous experience, how long is the whole process of swapping over my head going to take? would i be able to do it in a weekend? i dont wanna start something i cant finish as i need the car for work... :)
  2. so i am guessin ght enext question to this is.... whereabouts do i get the parts, i seem to remember GSF not doing these sort of items?
  3. Yeh daz just quoted me £320 to get it all remapped and running sweet! so now i have just gotta pull my finger out and get the head fitted! And i think i will leave the charger alone for now and maybe save up for a toothed belt conversion and 65mm pulley when the time comes for a charger rebuild! Anyone done the bottom end shell bearings before, is this an easy job? ( ie can i do it with engine in engine bay :) ) i was thinking i might do these aswell, even tho the engine has only done 80000 miles, i thought well i might aswell do as much as i can whilst its in bits!
  4. was also maybe thinking of putting a 65mm pulley on aswell, to maximise the effect, anyone got any ideas on how much a custom remap is likely to cost?
  5. yes mate thats the one! the engine does feel good, its now done 80000 miles and hasnt missed a beat at all!! i am just wanting to take it the next step :D
  6. can i just double check i have ur correct email adress darren?
  7. is that something you can sort out for me daz ?
  8. that sounds exspensive?
  9. ok daz that sounds like a good gain in power! i will be in touch with you soon anyway as i am going to need someone to help me sort out my timing / fueling when i get everything fitted! :) when you say custom remap, i take it that would be a custom sns chip??
  10. Just wondering what sort of power my g60 might end up making when i get round to finishing it? anyone have any rough ideas? gotta be at least 210bhp when fully mapped? Spec: PSD Full Blend charger Stage 5 SNS 68 mm Pulley Stage 2 Big Valve Head Piper 270 cam and vernier pulley Water/methanol dual stage injection kit Red top injectors (not sure if i am going to need these ??) 13. Can anyone reccomend a G60 cylinder head gasket set? i am changing my head over soon to a big valve item and will change the head gasket in the process. Should i get a VAG one? any ides on how much for the full set? Cheers
  14. Thanks for your help, atleast now i have a better idea on how i am going to approach this now! now i just gotta hope i dont make a cock up of it all :)
  15. i take it your saying i should time it using the timing marks as suggested in my manual although as i have a vernier pulley wont all that be out anyway? hence why using the timing disc and setting the bottom crank at 108 degress etc etc? then again it might just be a case of it being out a tooth or 2 when it comes to the final tune up if i where to go by the timing marks? i dont really know what route to take seeing as this is the first time i ve done something like this 8)
  16. can anyone tell me about what i should do with the position of the distrbutor when putting all the this back together, bearing in mind the way i will be setting it up? as explained above. is the third pulley on the cam belt side the drive for the dizzy? Regards
  17. Rite guys within the next few weeks i will be swapping my head over for a gas flowed big valve head ( G60 ) now after a bit of research i ve decided to do this in the following manor - Take of old head and bits, transfer parts i need across from old head, (inlet ,new gasket etc etc), i am going to set the bottom end at 108 degrees as stated to do so for my camshaft (Piper 270 with vernier pulley) using the timing disc. with the bottom end set at 108 degrees from TDC i then intend to set the inlet cam lobe? at full lift etc hopefully this will get me to a stage where i can put everything else back together and get it running to a stage where i can get it to g-werks for daz to have a look at maybe?? the only other thing i am not to sure about is the other cog connect to the cam belt which is i assume the drive for the dizzy what position does this need to be in? Anything else i need to consider when carrying all this out, feel free to tell me :) Cheers Mike
  18. You have to bear in mind that your FMIC is a lot bigger than the standard small one in a corrado so the boost pressurer will drop anyway??? thats what i noticed on mine after i had fitted my G60 FMIC, i was getting 2000 - 2100 on mfa now i get around 1900 - 1950...
  19. Well i was going to set it up to my standards 8) then get daz to sort it out when i ve got it all together at least then i can be sure its timed correctly by someone who knows what they are doing! :)
  20. I recently purchased a Piper 270H camshaft from a guy i know, now accordnig to him it was a G60 1.8 camshaft and he had it fitted to his and said it worked well, anyway, after looking at the specs he gave and then looking at the specs on the piper website i noticed that the full lift of lobe one should be 114 degrees but according to him the camshaft i now have has a full lift of 108 degrees? which corresponds to the info given for an 8v Golf Gti?? would this be a major problem? or am i looking at this wrong? do i have to add 6 degrees onto it for timing purposes? ( making it 114 Degress ) ??? 8)

    is it sh***ed?

thanks mate for your help! just ordered one ! :)
  22. ur best bet is to get a Golf G60 intercooler setup, an easy fitment and the difference is quite noticable, there are only very slight modifications that need to be made which become obvious when you come to fit it all together, the only down side is that they range from between £400 - £600 for the complete setup including pipes etc secondhand! another route you could go down is water injection??

    is it sh***ed?

can anyone point me in the right direction to which universal lambda probe i should get for my 93 G60? the original probe has 3 wires coming from it, 2 white and a black wire? i take it i should get the GSF 3 wire probe?
