where abouts did you get the generic one from? GSF?, i have since been told that aslong as its all wired in correctly and waterproofed they are fine! any part numbers that i can use?
-
yeah as far as i know you can? ( they are practically the same, as far as i was told by stealth racing) the place i took it to stripped all the gears down anyway just to checked i had the rite gears aswell, they also do a nifty gear ratio tool on their site which gives you an idea of what you would achieve by putting in the gears, its only a guide but i had a little play with it ands its quite cool to see the different combinations. http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/inforatios.html

I did think that when i was going to change it last time when i though it may be buggered, but the the guy there said they where poo and wouldnt reccomend putting one in my car so i took his word for it :) i cant remember how much the vw ones are ? £80??
-
Rite... 8) my thoughts where correct! Has anyone got the VW part number for the lambda probe i require? Cheers
-
Whilst changing my Decat pipe over today the black wire came out of the lambda probe! there is no real way to connect it back together apart from just pushing it back into position. as far as i know this wire goes to my air fuel ratio gauge which now doesnt cycle anymore it just stays at a constant reading , ie not telling me much. i havent noticed any performance issues but am i in desperate need to get a replacement probe straight away? of the three wires running from the probe (2 white, 1 Black) what does the black one do? Cheers

Just had mine done at Competition transmission services , http://www.gearboxman.com , they did a top job and it cost me £200 cash to get 1st and 2nd vr6 gears fitted ( i supplied the vr6 box etc). they provide an excellent service although i had to wait a month or so for mine as they had quite a bit of work on at the time. but then again i wasnt in that much of a hurry anyway, Stealth racing also do this conversion aswell for a similar price but that was a bit far for me to travel as i am down south.

Just to add to this thread but what do i do if i got the dual stage kit with the that has two injectors? i am thinking of putting one just before the Co pot ( larger Jet ), and maybe another one ( smaller jet ) maybe just after the intercooler, bearning in mind i already have a g60 intercooler setup now so intercooler heat soak isnt such a problem. would this work? i dont really want to start drilling holes if its not in the right position now do i... 8)

Where or how do it fit a timing disc for my piper 270 cam onto the crankshaft have i got to remove all the pulleys etc? there gunna be a pain if thats the case! 8) has anyone got any tips when i time in the cam with my big valve head etc? anything to watch out for etc? oh and is it likely to take longer than a day to fit it all, it will be my first time having a go at something as severe as this so sorry if i sound a bit thick! :)
-
i ve bought a big valve head from a guy who only had it on his car for 12 miles since new, now before i tackle fitting it is it worth me checking it for distortion? i work at an engineering firm so is it just a case of run a clock over the mating surface? also when fitting the head can i follow the guide in my haynes manual for an 8v golf gti , as i suppose its pretty similar? as i need an explanatin on how to time in my piper camshaft aswell. Cheers

My Sliding fan blower control for the changing between screen, face etc, seems to be jamming somewhere? i can only really get it to blow on screen or at feet, the slider seems to stop before getting all he way accross to the left and if i keep pushing it over the sliders jumps accros but nothing changes? any ideas on what maybe getting in the way, would it be something near the mechanism? Cheers

Thanks again dinkus for the door mate, nice to meet you! and also nice meeting up with paul 8v aswell at stevens scrapyard! the car wont be in the bodyshop untill next week now but the guy knocked of £100 just cus i had taken out all the gumf from the door so all they have to do is remove old and fit the newly sprayed one so that was a slight bonus, all i have got to do now is sort out my MOT as i forgot it ran out last week!!! better get that sorted soonish i reckon....
-
still at least my bodyshop are willing to take the car in as soon as i ve got the parts so that should be tommorow morning so i may have it back in a week or so, which is a pain as i was going to take time of work next week to fit my big valve head and camshaft... that will have to go on hold untill i have a recuperated some of my funds...

I ve got the little s**ts address, and i actually see them playing football in the park near my girlfriends house so its not as if they can run away, and another thing that really gets on my tits is that they know my girlfriends brother and know exactly who i am. my friends are gutted for me aswell they cant believe it, them themselves dont even want to leave their cars outside in that area now, these sorta people dont listen and i am afraid there are so many "kids" of that age who are exactly the same, i mean i am 21 and at 17 i wouldnt have dreamed to do something like that to a car let alone a Rado!! in all honestly it saddens me that they are the so called next generation.
-
i have decided i am gunna keep things pretty calm, just incase they decide to do anything again as they are fairly local, i think the best thing to do is go and have a little chat with them. there not worth waisting my time over. just got my quote from the bodyshop providing i get a new door and wing it will cost me £600 which includes the bonnet being done aswell.
-
The thing is, is that i know who did it, well i have a very good idea, seeing as they caused damaged to my mates mk2 golf gti and a friends renault on the night of a party, they didnt like the fact we chucked them out for being 15 yr old under age drunken pains in the arse, so they kicked up a fuss, did the damage to the friends cars then mine last night, i was expecting them to come back maybe to rip an aerial of or somink but the damage on my car takes the piss, gunna cost me a fortune to get it fixed! spose it gives me an excuse to get a few other things done at the same time but i wasnt plannig on shelling out that sorta money this month! just to think i spent all day yesterday cleaning and polishing it for them to do that!
-
Look what i woke up to this morning! little shits, i think i know who did it aswell, will be paying the little s**ts a visit today. i am not happy at all, i feel like breaking there legs, the police cant do anything cus there isnt any evidence so i will have to sort it!! anyone breaking a corrado with a late spec passenger side front wing and maybe a door by any chance?
-
From the small patch i did the other day the results are great, i followed as per instructions on box, though i cant imagine how long it will take to do the whole car!!
-
i won one on ebay yesterday, i just need to get hold of the correct cam shaft now? the guy i bought it off used a piper 270 cam?? he said the gains where excellent, should i go for something similar?
-
I am in need of some help! 8) i have sent my spare g60 box and a corrado vr6 box to a geabox specialist to have the 1st and 2nd gears changed, they have stripped them both down, all gears are ok, what i need to know is whether i need to use the final drive from the vr6 or G60 box? will it make any difference? also can anyone tell me the gear ratios for the g60 box and the vr6 box, they want me to confirm i have the correct gearboxes aswell before putting it back together? Thankyou Regards Mike

hmmm yes, i think i may have seen you a few times aswell and not realised it, theres quite a few Standard VRs around, from what i can tell, unless i am just seeing the same one???? :) i will have to keep a look out now!
-
I was just wondering.... has anyone had any experience with C&R ported and polished heads, especially the big valve version, i ve seen one for sale , are they any good?
-
saw a ( well had little race with :D ) a blue Vr6, on the A3 motorway in waterlooville, hampshire, it had a private plate , "N1 VR6" or something, ive seen it a couple of times before around that sort of area, nice car! just wondered if it was anyone from here??
-
what does your isv sound like whens its on? is it supposed to just hum? because mine seems to hum and have an intermittent click sound to it???
-
yeh ok , that would be great mate!
