1. Think is possibly the best section to put this in, been looking into RWD conversions on a Corrado and various options people have taken many seem to be stateside using a mish mash of parts. And was wondering on the very remote chance if anyone else has ever considered using a Porsche 944 a donor due to the similarities in wheelbase, length and width of the car, well aware of the amount of fab work that would be required to make it work but given the price of a 944 project/breaker It seems a viable option to have a majority of the parts that would be required to convert a Corrado to RWD! Any input greatly appreciated!!
2. tidy car bud! Another Lincolnshire based one :thumbleft:
3. Bump, anyone running this sort of setup?
4. Well bit more time off work and a little bit more done on the rado! Mainly sanding back filler hitting it with primer then sanding back again, but took the plunge today and got the inner wing ends replaced, not the prettiest at the minute but solid and should tidy up really well hopefully so I can start getting it somewhere near ready for paint in the engine bay *standard quick update picure* [rl]
5. Nothing to update on the corrado as I have been on shift at work but thought id share a couple of the reasons as to why progress has been non existent recently! My bagged Mercedes 190D which ended up being my daily driver and smashing out 15k in about 6 months of ownership before I sold it to fund yet another project.... Shortly followed by this little number after realising it was better off as a parts truck Hoping the corrado and caddy will be ready for paint by the end of summer finances allowing ready to roll out for 2018 if I can ever make my mind up on what engines to drop in them! :thumbleft:
6. Did some reading on the build thread for that car some absolutely insane fab work in getting it to sit over the RS running gear!
7. Something to look into, I am leaning towards a 2.7T just how to mount it and gearbox options!
8. Didn't think about the LS looked at the 4.0 Lexus V8 lumps as they aren't too unreasonable on price
9. FWD.... trying to avoid chopping the back and centre tunnel out for 4WD or RWD
10. I do look at this as an option as the allroads came with the 2.7T in and can be had quite cheap as for gearbox it would be passat style so would have to try and work out mounting and if the driveshafts would be remotely close to lining up
11. did look but still around the 4-5k mark for one
12. I would kill for an RS3 lump, but think I might need a chat with the bank manager to finance one haha
13. Hopefully that clears it up a bit bud its the piece that locates the wing on the end but ideally want the cuts to go back to where the top of the slam panel bolts in so I have room to work with!
14. Im after a pair of inner wing body cuts, ideally after the last 6-8" of the inner wings from both driver and passenger side. Ideally posted but more than happy to drive to collect! Based just outside Lincoln in the east midlands
15. Well after ditching the idea of throwing a 20V lump into my corrado Im now open to any ideas anyone has!! The more oddball the better Im pretty much open to anything V8, diesel etc :thumbleft:
16. Time to ressurect this thread, after far too long sat in storage for multiple reasons I have finally got my backside in gear and dragged it back out to get cracking with it! It has had a fair few changes since the last post, after getting sick of trying to find a decent replacement sunroof and roof trims I decided to smooth the roof over (yes there is a lot of filler on there currently but I went OTT over the metal plate and fibreglass should hopefully end up with the bare minimum on there) and crack on finishing the smoothing off the engine bay! Over the next couple of weeks I will be knocking up a roll over jig to get the sills and rear inner arches sorted as well as a dose of UPOL raptor on the underside to keep it solid for many years to come... The problem I am facing now is what to do engine and drivetrain wise I had originally built up an AGU 20V to throw in but having seen quite a few done now Im really wanting to do something different so if anyone has any out there ideas throw them my way! Anyway here is a couple of pictures of how it is sitting at the minute
17. Artec L 16" 2 piece splits Staggered 7.5" & 9" 4x100 ET46 Fronts ET45 Rears 205/40/16 all round with good tread 1 centre cap missing 3x have light kerbing as you can see in the pictures 1x of the rears has been kerbed worse than the others Pair of 20MM spacers & a pair of 25mm spacers including correct bolts to run them Looking for £450 ONO
18. Has anyone ever run a boot mounted fuel cell found a few motorsport themed builds via Google but no definitive guides on what people are using! Not looking for massive capacity as it is only really going to get driven at weekends, so far pretty much just been looking at off the shelf setups complete with the roll over check valves etc. Any advice or input appreciated!
19. Looking for a Pre 92 Bonnet and slam panel, not fussed on colour or condition of paint but ideally want as dent and rust free as possible!! Located in Lincolnshire but got a van so willing to travel to collect!!
20. If I get chance to get down the workshop today I'll have a look got a couple of VR subframes and two 16v corrados ill see if I can size them up
21. From memory the top mounts and everything are the same (I'll stand to be corrected on that) As for the strut if the G60 has standard suspension on pop a wheel off and take some measurements of the strut on the car and compare [emoji1360]
22. Has anybody got any info on what base plates or modifications are needed to get DTM style wing mirrors to fit?
23. These came on my 1990 Corrado but have since sourced replacements which are going to save me some work. The front bumper has had a fair bit of filler in the plate recess where it has been creased at some point so would be an ideal project for someone wanting to smooth one up or use it to chop plastic out of for another but perfectly useable still, it will come with the 90mm splitter but that has been better days, still perfectly useable though The rear bumper is in fairly good condition no cracks anywhere paint is just tatty. The paint is not a standard VW colour so both will Need paint to suit your car £40 Collected for the pair South of Lincoln
