  1. Looking at some wheels for my 1.8 16V fronts are 16" 8.5J ET50 and the rears are a 16" 9J ET50 my arches are already rolled but can be pulled but just wondering if an ET50 would give me any clearance issues over the the front 256mm's and or what spacers I might need!
  2. Cheer guys I'll have a look into a few bits on pay day, @davidwort I'll definitely giving that a read by the looks of the first few pages mate!
  3. I will be shortly lifting the engine out and starting a bare block rebuild, whilst its apart ill try and upgrade where I can have tried the old search button but not brought much back I will also be fitting a new clutch and flywheel, I have seen the Wiki knowledge base stuff but if anyone has any experience with particular brands or anything please let me know! Cheers, Tom
  4. Made a bit of start on getting the car stripped down this afternoon a few little surprises but nothing more than I expected it does look like its had a small bump on the front but I guessed that by the fact the upper grill being a completely different colour to the car, but the lower slam panel has been pulled back out but is no good so that will be getting replaced but everything else on the car is straight. I was told that that it had the headlight loom had been upgraded but turned out to be about 50p's worth of wire wired straight from the battery into the headlight unit and soldered on that has been ripped out and will be getting replaced courtesy of the suppliers forum. Im also going to be on the look out for a complete wiring loom as the wiring really has seen better days and is just clumps of wire chucked together with stuff not leading anywhere. Hopefully on saturday I will be getting the engine and subframe up and out to get some bits prepped for sandblasting and getting set for the bare block engine rebuild need to do some more reading up on the 16v KR tuning options pretty set on keeping the 1.8 16V... Also beginning to start the work on smoothing the bay up a bit nothing OTT just get rid of what doesn't need to be there and relocating the battery to the boot so got plenty to be going on with for now anyway here is a quick picture before i got the knackered slam panel and radiator out!
  5. Right here we go, after visiting a couple of shows last year and having a go in a few more old school VW's I decided that my MK4 Golf GTI just wasn't going to cut the mustard as a serious project. Great as a daily driver but I just wasn't feeling it, so after a month or two of looking at various different things as a project the MK1, MK2 golf's, caddy's etc I just couldn't bring myself to pay scene tax for stuff which frankly were sheds. Then one day last week whilst having a look through ED38 and Ebay this popped up so a couple of e-mails later two trips to Coventry later some cash was exchanged and she was mine! I wasn't looking for anything pristine just a solid car that's as good as rot and rust free for a 24 year old car, I do understand this car has been on the forum once or twice before for brief periods so any further info on it would be great!! I do have a few plans in mind for it but for now it will be getting stripped down to fully assess what needs to be done, but for the immediate future as its currently sat on a set of borrowed wheels a new set is in the pipeline over the next month or two. Getting some measurements to knock up a straight through exhaust and rear silencer at work, stripping out the interior ready for a re-trim and giving it a good clean and sound proofing if the floors are as solid as the rest of the car. I do love the original colour so once I get the small dent in the rear passenger corner pulled out it will be getting a full respray.. I do have much more planned but its going to be one step at a time as these things never quite go as planned. But for now here is some pictures from the advert and the day I picked her up! (Sorry for the poor quality be some better ones up soon) [/url]
  6. I honestly haven't had chance to jack it up and have a poke around yet it's been put away for the winter to be worked on, only wondered as I planned on a full new system and wanted to go straight through
  7. Cheers mate, I'll be purchasing the loom and a few other bits on pay day
  8. Bulbs and loom are definetly on the list as my high beam is worse than my low beam haha
  9. With this being my first Corrado and first VW pre 2000 it's all pretty new to me just wondering if there is any 'must do work/mods' on the 1.8 16v KR engines? Also trying to source some info on the legality of a straight through pipe for it with it being a 1990 didn't know what laws would apply? Any help is much appreciated :)
  10. But I am planning on keeping this as a long term project, but good to get out to a few of the meets when I can!
  11. Yeah the guy I bought it from had it less than 5 months bought a house and needed it gone
  12. It will be needing a respray at some point but I want to keep the original colour
  13. Mine will be having a respray at some point but I love the original colour
  14. Well finally got round to throwing the very few pictures I have of it there pretty average as they are off my phone and the advert but they will do until I can get some more sorted out, its not on the rota's in the picture as they weren't included in the sale and not really my cup of tea but its currently on a set of borrowed 15" ATS cups, it needs some TLC but as a base go's its pretty much rust free with no major issues body wise just average paint and a small dent on the passenger arch and has given me a pretty good base to start with..
  15. Yes definitely if I'm not on shift I'll have a ride out
  16. Definetly up for getting to some of the meets although it will be going off the road soon to start the work on it! Got a few ideas in mind possibly Going to run it on bike carbs and a few other bits...
  17. Do like oz turbos or the Schmidt modernlines but there is so much about!
  18. Awesome stuff mate definetly have to have a catch up got quite a few things in mind for the Corrado mainly wheels at the minute as I'm borrowing the set it's on!!
  19. I know my dad used to take stuff there a good probably 10 years ago but had a slight falling out with him shall we say haha but there is a few real good guys local if you ever need help with anything mate :)
  20. No I'm on the high street got a black Mk4 1.8T I use day to day but the urge for something 90's got the better of me and I have absolutely no regrets!
  21. The caddy still got the G60's on? ;) I live literally 20 yards up the road from you haha
  22. Cheers bud ill give them a read over the next few days and get onto that one! :D looking forward to getting started with it!!
  23. Let me guess you have a purple G60 on porsche D90's??
  24. Finally picked up my Corrado this evening pretty famailiar with the MK4 platform of VW's having owned a bora and currently driving a 1.8T golf on a day to day basis. But the desire for something older finally took hold after helping a mate out with some of his MK1 projects and after a few days trawling on the internet and a few texts and a bit of cash exchanged I came home with a 1990 1.8 16v as it stands its current spec is: Newly built engine (1.8 head and dual KR exhaust cams, 2.0l 6A audi quattro bottom end Uprated headlights (uprated to what I'm not sure!) Sitting on JOM coil overs, these may be changed out for something newer 118k on clock which for 24 years old isn't bad going Recent new brake pads, head gasket changed full service and change of fluids amongst numerous other bits It does however still need some TLC there is a small dent in the passenger side arch and it needs a respray for it to be as good as I would like it but thats all small details, it also needs to temperature gauge looking at as that currently isn't reading as well as the main beam not functioning correctly but I'm sure there is going to be more than enough help on here for me to get those sorted, ill try and get some pictures uploaded as soon as I can!! Cheers, Tom
