Got the car back... Finally! We ended up replacing the distributor and water pump as well. Difference is actually quite noticeable. After the cam install it now pulls strong to the red line. If my "butt dyno" is anything to go by... I would say that up to 2000 RPM it is now less eager, but after that it has much better response. Strongest pull seems to come between 5 and 6K RPM. My MPG seems to have improved as well.

Guilty. Sometimes my girlfriend picks up the parts I've left here and there and puts them in boxes with labels. I now have many boxes labelled "car parts".

Well, the car is with my mechanic for the week. All belts, pulley, cam chain, spark plugs and all seals and gaskets will be changed as well. I'll be picking the car up on Saturday and will post my "butt dyno" results. According to my mechanic it is wiser to drive and break-in the gas timing as it is first and maybe chip tune it later. Don't know what the logic is, but that's the plan for now.

Couldn't get anything for my car, but I left it to my mechanic for the week (getting some ABF cams fitted). He has mended the tabs on my grill and thinks he can also fix the door handle. Looks like I will need the late tilt steering column cowls and the tow hook cover for the front bumper. BTW, I do believe the steering column cowls are the same for LHD and RHD, right?

What I had in mind is mapping the car on a DYNO would probably be next to impossible here. I never had much trust in ebay chips. Did you install yours before or after you had the KR cam in? What difference did it make and in what rev range? 20ish quid for a chip doesn't sound like much as long as it doesn't do damage. At least I could have an extra chip for reprogramming on a DYNO... If I find someone who can do it. BTW, thanks for bearing with me and my noobish questions on this, as I haven't found much info on the 9A from locals. Most are boosted or swapped for ABF or have standalone electronics, all of which are of no interest to me.

Thanks for the input. I had the injection system cleaned and tuned up to the factory settings last week and the car behaves very well. Off the highway I usually get about 40-45 MPG with well behaved driving. On the highway at 90 mph it drops to about 35 MPG. Back on topic, my plan is to have both cams installed and set up on the original timing marks and then run the car without doing anything to the injection system and see what's what. I hope that it gets some grunt on the top end as currently it has a noticeable drop-off at about 5900 RPM. Chipping the 9A will probably be next to impossible over here...

It's a tilt steering column. I have to put the search on hold until Monday, as last night I was given a heads-up for a car that will be broken for parts locally. We'll go check it out during the weekend and come Monday I will know what I am still missing. Sorry for the delay but as this just came up it could potentially save some shipping costs.

I am looking for some stuff for my late valver: 1. Left tow hook cover for the front bumper 2. Steering column plastic cover - both pieces for a late style interior 3. Left door handle 4. OEM late style grill If you have anything, please PM me. PayPal payment welcome. Will need shipping either within the UK or to Bulgaria.

Ah, yes, I should probably do the belt as well. Have you put yours on a dyno and how does it behave? Does it make power below 4500 RPM? I've seen so many different opinions on power difference that I really don't know what to expect anymore.

Hey guys, I drive a bone stock 9A valver and I have a set of ABF cams with all the needed gaskets, sealants, the cam chain and a set of new spark plugs. Before I move forward I have a couple of questions which I couldn't answer by searching: - Once the cams are in and everything is put back together do I start the car immediately or will it need some other tuning? I mean is this a "plug and play" mod in the direct sense? - Will the injection system "adapt" to the new cams? - If you have done this mod, what settings have you applied for ignition timing and fuel compared to stock? - What will happen if I leave the injection fuel settings untouched? Many thanks! P.S.: Pic for attention

Your car seems very nice! The valve cover gasket is actually pretty cheap and easy to replace. Make sure you get everything though: valve cover gasket, spark plug gasket and the oil seal. It might be a good time to replace the chain driving the camshafts. It's also a cheap part.

Ah, never knew that 16x7 RX2 and RS 722 are one and the same. You learn something every day. :thumbleft: portent's car is exceptional.

Hey guys, I've been offered a set of 16" BBS RS 722 (Golf 20 Jahre Jubi) + some cash in exchange for my set of 17" Porsche Boxster S2 wheels. Thing is I haven't seen many Corrados on Jubi wheels. If anyone has pictures, please post them up. Here's a few of my current setup. Cheers! Thanks for the input guys. I've read most of the huge suspension thread. I was offered a set of H&R struts and springs, which came off a Golf, so I'll do some more research. The knowledge base here is amazing and actually I've read a lot. Just asking once again to see if I've missed something important. I would put up wanted ad for the plastics surrounding the steering column, but RHD ones won't suit me. :)

Interior LEDs were fitted by the first owner of the car here in Bulgaria. The dash lighting is also blue LED, as are all buttons and the heater panel. I was looking for a car which is as stock as possible, but actually that's a nice upgrade. Can't help with a DIY instruction though, as I didn't do it. GlosterOx, seanl82, thanks a lot for the input. I think I'll try to have these mirrors shipped once again. My left one has started fading, and the right one got cracked. Since there's interest and tolerance to newbies, I think I'll try to take maximum advantage of it, so here are some more noob questions. 1. I read that the suspension (shocks and springs) is the same as Golf MK2/3. Is this true? 2. I've bought camshafts from an ABF and will have them installed. Can someone post dyno result of a stock 9A with ABF cams? I think I know what to expect, but still. 3. Has anyone had their plastic trim surrounding the steering column break? Any suggestions on repairs or a way to make Golf ones fit?

The Golf looks nice. Are those BBS CH? Post a pic of the Corrado. :)

Thanks guys. There are Corrado fans in Bulgaria, and although they are not many, there are some very, very nice cars. Mine's not the prettiest, and it's most definitely not the fastest... but I like it. Don't know where my previous reply in the thread went.

Thanks for the warm welcome! :thumb right: I do believe the plane in the picture is (was at some point, before becoming a statue) a MIG-19. Bulgaria's air-force is still mostly flying Russian planes. I'll post a thread in the 'Wanted' section, but first... there's the matter of 6 posts outside of the classifieds. :salute: The colour is satin silver (LB7Z). If I'm not mistaken, diamond silver was available only with the early Corrados. In all honesty I didn't want to buy a silver car. I really don't like the colour, but this shade has grown on me. Also I was tired of looking at cars after over a year of searching. Turns out it's also one of the rare colours for a Corrado. I really need advice on the suspension. FK have posted some crazy low prices on their site. Is the Power High Tech suspension (40mm drop) comfier than their mid-range coils? What about their springs with 40 mm drop? I am after more comfort, because on the coilovers the car bounces a lot and there's a lound bang each time on a (not-so) scary bump/dip in the road (quick compression). I hope this makes sense... EDIT: Forgot to ask... Has anyone tried these mirrors? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390617552429?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I ordered a couple, so that a friend in Aberdeenshire could pick them up. Mail lost them. Seller sent a second pair, but they never arrived. :(

Hey guys, I've been reading up on the forum for the last year. Bought my 9A Corrado in December 2013. I am pretty happy with the car so far. It has the late style interior and in general has been well taken care of. In the last year I mostly did general maintenance - suspension, brakes, belts and pulleys, alternator, AC, oil, filters and so on. I also fitted a Passat glass sunroof. I hope to have it resprayed by March and I will be running 16" Azev A's this summer. The car is currently sitting on FK coilovers, but I plan to bin them, as the right rear one is gone, and in general it's too harsh for the roads over here. I am looking for advice on suspension with a drop of 40-50 mm. and maximum comfort. To-do list: 1. Full respray in original color - hopefully next month the car will go in 2. ABF camshafts - bought 3. Sell Porsche wheels and respray Azevs 4. Scrap FK coilovers for a setup with more comfort Wishlist: 1. Spoonfed extended spoiler 2. Left-side fog - this has turned out to be a PITA 3. Original grill with badge Here are some pics of the car. Cheers from Bulgaria!
