If your car is registered BEFORE 1st august 1992 you will be okay to take the catalyst off and wont have any problems. Most car's registered after this will probably fail due to the emmision's being to high. We've been computerised at work now for around 5 month's now the system is pretty good it will even tell you if the car your testing is recorded as a write off or not.If you've got any other question's regarding the mot test let me know and i'll try to awnser them.

No tried them first, they dont list one.

I've ordered one from ECP £103+vat. The local bosch dealer (Andrew page) wanted £125+vat.

UPDATE i borrowed a maf of a mate and it cured the stalling and running problems. I cleaned my maf with some carb cleaner and it's not faulted at all so i think i've cracked it.Probably going to replace the maf anyway when i can find one at a good price.
-
I was told brand new ones are available BUT at over £300+vat.

The best price i've got upto now is £110+vat from ECP i've tried VW and they want £70 odd +vat but they say they discontinued them last year!! Are there any other places to try?

I've just checked and the throttle is moving in VAG-com so no probs there. I'm still having problems with it stalling by the way.......... its 90% better since it had the basic settings done but it's still not right. It does seem to be temperature related when it's cold it run's excellent and goes like a train but when it's warm it start's playing up also seem's hesitant when it's playing up. I'm wondering if it's possible that there is an earth fault possibly in the wiring loom, becuse when i did the chains etc i put new tape on all of the loom could the temp sensor's be losing their earth's if so do you know which pin it is in the large multiplug where the looms join. I've checked for voltage at pin 54 and that's fine. What pin number's should the battery and ignition supplies be at so i can check those? As i've said it used to run great until i striped at all down so i'm think it's a fault i've created !!!! Thank's again

Any ideas RW1?
-
Yep got it in one dead easy job to do.
-
One other thing when it was on VAGCOM and in measuring block's the coolant temp and intake temperature's were reading -49c but with the engine running they were both reading normal any ideas?
-
Update i took it to our electrcian who we use at work and he put their Snap on scanner on it and did the basic setting's and it run's spot on and there are no more fault code's :D .Thank's for your help RW1 and everyone else. Jason

Right i've taken the ISV off AGAIN and cleaned it and it's spotless!! I also connected a power probe to it and opperated it while cleaning and it seem's to work spot on,so unless there's a problem when it's on the car i'm not sure. I've used the search and been looking at previous post's and i want to try the basic setting's procedure to harmonize the throttle and so on but i've selected group 001 (my ECU part number end's in AG) and there's no ADP box on the right hand side. Why is this? As i've said the car ran spot on before the battery was dissconected for about a month. Thanks again for your help Jason

I've found the instruction's on rosstech's website just need to get the registered version now!!
-
well i've been looking at some other post's and i'm going to get the registered version of VAGCOM and do the basic setting's and see if that sort's it out. Is it easy enough to do can you give me any info on how to do it. cheers

Well i've checked the foam in the damper (and removed it ) and checked the pipe's to and from the damper and they are all clear.I ran it again today and sometimes it ticksover perfect and sometime's it ticks over at around 500rpm also it's ticking over really fast then it start's to hunt :? any more ideas i'll check the corrigated pipe tomorrow but i dont think it's that old..
-
Just out of intrest what is the adaptation part for in VAGCOM are there any instruction's on the web for it?
-
I'll check for the foam in the damper tomorrow.I checked for power to the isv and there's an earth and a live that's switching on and off when running. When i disconnect the isv the tickover goes up to about 1300rpm dont know if that means anything..
-
On tickover the throttle angle was 11.2 the isv adaptationwas 1.000 and the isv duty cyclewas 74.8 if that means anything to you..
-
ISV is spotless and so is throttle body.I checked the timing load's of times before i rebuilt it so i'm confident that it's okay. The car run's great other than that goes like a train!! Dinkus are you sure that you can't the tickover in vagcom i spoke to our electrician who we use at work and he seemed to think you could but he couldnt remember what channel it was in. Thanks again

I need some help with my vr6 i've just fitted some new timing chain's etc and now it will only just tickover it's about 500 rpm and also when revved it stall's.Ive checked it with vagcom and it comes up with 00533 idle speed regulation 09-00 adaption limit surpassed. I've been told that it needs adjusting in vagcom is this right? Is there any instruction's on the web on how to do this as i've never done this before. The car used to run perfect before and i'm presuming it's because the battery has been disconnected for so long(hope so anyway) Cheers Jason
-
Do you think it's worth getting them done ? Car's done 108k
-
I'm just in the process of replacing my timing chains etc and i'm just weather it's worth having the injector's checked while they are out? If so can anyone recommend anywhere to have them done.(car's done 107k) Thanks Jason
