Breaking my golf vr6 OBD2 engine, no doors or wheels available as they are going onto my green TDI mk3 but smooth green door trims will be for sale. Is there anyone local to west wickham / bromley in kent who does mobile welding? 3x floorpan sections needed to go in the golf mk3, ive done the prep and prepped the floorpans from donor cars to go in mine, just some trimming needed and small infill on one pan as its 2cm too short. MOT is coming up soon.

its a cork / card type gasket from elring, but ideally i wanted rubber but cant find a decent rubber make?

do you really need to seal these up with mucky black rtv sealant?? its a nice elring gasket ive bought, but i see people have mixed views on using sealant? whats the point if it already has a gasket? 2.9 vr6. kind regards :thumbleft:

first of all that you for your help on here! the crank pulley and auxillery shaft timing marks are spot on on the corrado vr6 engine, the new schimmell 263 cams half moons also look spot on with the cam locking tool used, but if you look at the cam lobes there is a slight difference, ive marked it in red arrows so you can see, its only 2mm out i would say, but would it do any harm? look at the rear lobes first ive marked with a red arrow, compared them to the blocks that hold the cams down, you can see a 2mm or so difference, also look at the lobes facing upwards, one is at about 12pm and the other at about 12.02pm

yes rog its just fiddly and especially when im using sealent trying not to get it everywhere as im a clean freak, I notice from factory they never used sealent?

until its flush ive done it to, bloody hell it is a pain to fit isnt it! just had a trial run and the spring came off the seal! im thinking of gently using a blunt bread knife to help it in?

have you got a plastic guide you want to send me, obviously I will pay. mine did not come with it for some reason?

the crank seal behind the flywheel on the vr6 engine, is it best to install it with the lower timing cover on or off? whats the best way? a lot of people say the plastic guide you buy makes it more difficult.
