I've just bought a cheapo handsfree kit, the kind where the cradle etc.. plugs into the cigarette lighter. Only problem is the lighter plug + panel is really wobbly, not sure if something's broken or what. Any ideas how can I get the thing out to see whats up with it ?? Cheers, Dan

I can't believe your thinking of ripping the engine out  Forget the golf and put your money into the corrado! Dan
-
Very tidy :D what width are your tyres ?? they look meaty! Dan
-
I'm going to "try" and keep it as standard as possible. May change the side repeaters to clear ones but thats about it. Dan

Cheers guys!! The mileage is pretty low 52k with FVWSH! Upgraded from a MK2 Golf 16v, the difference in power and handling is amazing! The corrado is such a superb car to drive, where the hell can I go from here :? Dan

Finally got round to taking some photos of my Corrado, so here you go:

Interesting! I've always had A539's on my Golf 16v and I found they wore pretty quick! are the Toyo's even worse ? How long do they generally last ?
-
I've got the Proxes T1-S very good tyres... and for £32 a side you can't go too wrong!
-
I got 2 Toyo's from Unicar in Leeds the other day, £130 fitted and balanced... Although like you say, get them from http://www.mytyres.co.uk and find someone to fit them. Dan
-
Gutting! I sold my Golf to a guy called Rich who runs this company: http://www.auto-kraft.co.uk/ He's based in Leeds so might be worth giving him a bell to see how much he'd charge. Dan

I know what you mean Scott: I fitted a K+N the other day to my VR. It was on for roughly 6 hrs before the std airbox went back on! Awesome noise but high in the Rev range I just found it way too much ! Is there any setup that will increase the noise without sounding like all hell is breaking loose ? Will a K+N panel filter make any difference ? Dan
-
Sorry, i just ment i spied it on ebay the other day... Good luck mate, if you do get a good one you'll never look back.... Till you start craving for a 'rado :D

http://thebody.dnsalias.org/~daniel/big ... _Guide.pdf Print this Golf buing guide out, it should tell you everything you need to know!

It does look nice... i saw that one the other day! Check things like, Oil changes (every 5k really), Cam belt (every 60k) have been done. How many owners has it had ? Just try not to get carried away if its the first golf you've looked at. I'm also slightly worried that you dont know what a V5 is, if you not that clued up on cars make sure you take someone along who is!

I just had to let my G Reg Valver, 140k, FSH.. go for £700 gutted! spent over a grand on parts during its last year! It did have a noisy gearbox and clutch was on its way out, so can't really complain! As G-Lader says though... If there's no history i'd walk away and find another! pleantly around. Dan
-
Does that mean then that the oil can't be accuratly checked on the flat then ? Dan
-
Thanks for that guys, very helpful indeed! I'll try and get this remote repaired... don't fancy trying to locate and remove the control unit!
-
Thanks for that Glenn... Its done 50k too with FVWSH 8) Been keeping an eye out for the right one for years, just need to pay the loans off now! Your Burgundy motor looks well smart too, very nice colour! I've not seen many around like that. I've set the switch to the same position as yours, then taken the slider plastic bit off so i can't accidently switch it back. The batterys lasted 1 week before so we'll soon find out. Spoke to the last owner and he's pretty sure its a VAG alarm so should have no problems getting a new Fob. Strange how mine was still working set in the other position and yours didnt, makes me think its the Fob that's had it. I'll let you know anyway, Cheers Dan
-
Yep, mine has exactly the same text on the back too... Hmmm, interesting thought about the sliding switch (Definitely a switch as i've had it in bits a few times).. I wonder if its something to do with programing the remotes ? so when its set in a certain position its constantly using power. I'll give this a try first and let you know. Cheers again, Dan

Gavin - I could be featured on "Neighbours from hell" Glenn - is yours a factory fit one then ?? should i just pop up to VW and see if they can sort me out with a new one ? Dan
-
Definitely a siren... was annoying the neighbours for about 5 mins whilst i changed the batterys
