  1. The track scene over here is pretty good considering we have a couple famous tracks near by (Laguna Seca and Thunder hill) but yeah, there are lots of day/weekend events for anywhere from $150-$350 for each event. I got the cage from http://www.safedrives.com. They have lots of sweet stuff on that site. They are based from PA (USA) I believe. But yeah that’s where I got it. They had a group buy a couple weeks ago. Great customer service. Thanks guys! Yesterday I put most of the interior back in. I still need to cut a few pieces of carpet and put my subs back in.
  2. Yes of course we had a filter on it. Does it need some kind of resistance or is that just for stopping things from going inside? (Kind of a stupid question I know).
  3. We have a 50mm pulley we are going to install later on when he gets a cam and chip. Something really bad happened... We started the car for the first time with no problem. It sounded awesome! We go to start it the next day and it won’t turn over because his battery is dead from the car sitting for a couple months with the hatch open (he forgot about the trunk light). We finally put in my battery from my car and turn it over, we hear a terrible belt noise and we think that we just got a little oil on the belts on accident. But then quickly we see smoke and notice the charger is not turning!!! So we remove the complete charger and everything in 20min. (Possibly a new record) and we cannot even turn the charger by hand...somehow we think it seized. We don’t know how that happened because we followed the directions from BBM EXACTLY. We thought it was kind of weird that they mentioned nothing about priming the charger for the first start. So now we are waiting on a response from BBM.
  4. Remove the tensioner that’s connected to the alternator Remove the 4 allen bolts on the pulley side of the charger/bracket Remove the bracket on the right side of the charger (3 allens I think) Remove the oil feed line and the oil return line It will pop right out.
  5. hahaha yes it is. My girlfriend thought it would be a good christmas gift...lol
  6. There is no question about it! There will be the first with both mine and my roommates in a video together. Just you wait. Its going to be sweet.
  7. We may be crazy, but we have a lot of fun. =] I am willing to bet most of you do similar things, but just dont have the guts to post the pictures...lol. Yeah it had a rebuild maybe 15k ago. It could use some new apex strips and thats it - it was leaking a little bit of oil. It is going on our spare G60 engine we are going to be building.
  8. (Steve -My roommate's- Corrado, not mine.) =] Out with the old... We bend and broke 2 different allen wrenches (small pice broke off of one and the bent doesnt need any explaination) ...In with the new. Fully polished, 15psi pulley, lysholm Corrado.
  9. haha thats the plan! These pictures were taken the day I got it back from the garage. Its going to be painted flat black (like my wheels) and the have the padding installed on the side bars and the main hoop. I also have to figure out the best way to make my interior completly flat and carpeted.
  10. Haha yeah the only reason that is there is because the car had the European spec seatbelts installed and the US automatic belts removed. That was just the remains of it just in case someone would want to re-install them again later. I am going to start doing track events and autocross now that I have the cage installed. I have been waiting to start doing events until I had a cage installed to keep my parents happy and myself safe. It probably is the most difficult to get in and out of. YAY go me! On the plus side, it isn’t anymore difficult to get in since I got my seats in. I think the cage actually helped make it a bit easier to get in and out because I can use it to brace myself while getting in/out of it. =] I will post some pictures up as soon as I finish with the interior work. I hope to have it all done by this time next month because there is a show on the 22nd. Thanks guys! Keep the comments coming.
  11. I got it in the mail a few weeks ago... Friday I stripped out my interior: I also found an easter egg in my car from the previous owner (I found it rather amusing): The next day and 10 hours later... I'm stoked.
  12. I know it doesn’t look too impressive, but when your there its much more crazy looking...but here is me doing some jumps on the illegal trail "Magic Carpet" back behind UCSC - The local university in Santa Cruz. (Our camera was totally delayed when taking the pictures so bear with me here). Jump over trail and berm with 5 feet of air or so. Here is this log drop off its probably close to 6 feet or so... Here is me doing it. Here is a sweet log ride at the beginning of a trail we start at (you can see it go over to a little scrap wood ramp and from there it connects to that other fallen tree you can see in the background). Here is me hitting a small jump. Still a lot of fun.
  13. I know you at least need the top piece because the hazard light is much larger on the late stalks. I know the part number differs on the bottom cover on the late stalks from the early ones. I just used the late top and bottom piece and the late stalks. Everything worked out fine.
  14. I actually just did it yesterday! You need the plastic surround from the later stalks and the hazzard light (its a part of the later stalks) as well. Everything just swaps right over same plugs and everything. Super easy swap if you could get a hold of a set. I will post some pictures up this weekend of them and my new roll cage after its installed. =]
  15. He actually lives in the US like 40 min away from me in California. I have seen the car in person before. It’s pretty impressive. I guess he plans on racing this summer.
  16. Sorry this is so :offtopic1: but how often do you get to talk to someone from across the pond about something like this. =] Wow, that looks like a sweet little trail/track! There are some trails similar to that over here but they are pretty far away from me. But this summer I plan on going to the ski resorts because they build them up for downhill in the off seasons, I can’t wait for that. Oh, your second link was broken by the way. Just yesterday my roommate and I went on a crazy uphill ride to get to one of our usual downhill trails that we normally drive too. My legs are so beat. =] Oh, you don’t have to tell me man. I used to race Motocross a few years back; I know it’s not a bicycle, but it can cost a bit more than one. I also used to be into the BMX thing too. If you re talking about how people are trying to shut down tons of trails, yes its true. We almost lost access to a local park that’s like a 5 mile ride from my house with tons of super technical uphill and downhill trails. A lot of the trails we ride on aren’t "technically" legal, but are worth the risk of a fine from a ranger to ride on. I hope to get some pictures from tonights ride. If I do, I will post them up for sure as soon as I get back home. For tonights ride we have a crew of 7 people going...it's going to be sick.
  17. ah another FMIC to consider...ahhh! Could anyone call them and get a quote for a 90 Corrado G60 FMIC kit? I want to find out as soon as possible and I'm still waiting on an email back from them.
  18. bcstudent, NICE about the wheels! There is only a 1.8 8v under the hood of the Golf - haha - nothing special. Big-ted, for some reason this whole week has been super muddy and it hasn’t rained since last Thursday! I ride a 05' Santa Cruz Heckler. I hope to get some pictures of my riding sometime this week because the weather has been so nice. Yesterday I was hitting some pretty decent size drop offs and jumps for the first time yesterday. I am so excited because the drop I did (its a fallen tree that’s maybe 3-4 feet tall and has a lip built up it making it like a 5-6 foot drop off) I hit before my friend who has been riding for a year or so (he still has yet to hit it). I really want some pictures of it. Here is a picture of my bike. I would like to see some pictures of you riding if you have any. I'm really just starting to get into it.
  19. IHIG60, thanks for the input. It did help me look at it a bit differently. I am going to make a couple posts and see what the general consensus is and then make my decision based on everything.
  20. which one would you suggest going after...? I am having a real problem deciding on which will be better in the long run.
  21. I'm still trying to figure out if $1,000 + shipping from the UK is worth only a 8hp gain. I mean, don’t get me wrong the kit is a great looking set up especially since its all basically bolt on. On the other hand, you can get a Golf Rallye FMIC, "U bend", and piping for about $2,000 + shipping from a couple different places and I have heard of gains up to 20-30 hp from that set up on a G60. But with this is requires either a new radiator (a MK2 non AC with the ends switched from the Corrado one) and also the removal of the cars AC and possibly a new radiator fan. I'm still trying to decide which way I wanted to go with it...it’s either pay 1k for one that requires no modification for 8hp or pay 2k and modify things a bit for 20-30 hp gain. =\
  22. Ok, so a friend of mine has a 92’ VR6 and is getting no spark. He has replaced his coil with a new OEM one; new OEM distributor, new plugs, and his wires are only about 6 months old. He is still not getting any spark. What do you guys think the issue may be? He needs to get his car back on the road as soon as he can.
  23. Phil K, I was thinking about just doing the top bar on it...I think later this summer if I can afford it I am going to have a lot of body work done on the car including a re-spray of the original color. samm_cvr6, it’s kind of funny how the Corrado lives here. Not everyone knows about them still. I still get the occasional "That’s a Volkswagen? Is it new?" which I find hilarious. as for the people that know about them, most people kind of respect the drivers of them because they are a lot of work to maintain and I personally think they are the ultimate VW enthusiast’s car because they require so much attention. They aren’t as common as they seem to be over there, probably because they didn’t sell very well over here as far as I know. Plus you guys also got more years out of the G60 and a few other models we didn’t get over here.
  24. samm_cvr6, yeah NZ is really great. I went there last time I was visiting some friends in AUS. I think I am going to leave the grill black just to keep to the theme of the car. =]
