    FAREWELL

I sadly sold my Corrado yesterday after 5 years of ownership and a lot of hard work getting her just right. The Corrado was the best VW I have ever owned (And I have owned most models) and I kinda regret selling her in a way. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=012 The new owner is absolutely chuffed to bits with her and I know she has gone to a good home where the TLC will continue. I have advised him to register on here to get the advice needed to own and maintain one of these old girls. I'm not looking to get another Corrado so I will not be posting on here again. (Might consider the IROC at some point though) So this is me saying farewell to you guys. Cheers to all those who I have dealt with over the years Garry

    G60 Spark Plugs

Is there a thread showing the recommended plugs for G60 - my car has just been serviced and has had the plugs changed and it it now running like a bag of crap when it gets hot. I've booked the car back in to the garage to be looked at but want to check this out first. cheers
  3. My speedo & rev counter have developed an intermitant fault which is causing them both to jump / flicker. It is usually from start up and gradually dissapears as the car gets warmer which suggests to me that it may be damp/water related. Has anyone come across this problem before? Cheers Garry
  4. I've not posted for a while cos I've been up to my eyes with my new family (Both under 2) and my Lambretta. However, I did find some interesting pictures in an old box in the loft. 1st one is my Scirocco MKII GTi (I would love to know what happened to her - Rare little beastie these days) The single wiper was standard on the GTi. I've not seen one of these for years. 2nd one is my beach old buggy OGY. A very loud type 3 based buggy(Stinger pipe). God knows where this ended up, I can't even remember selling it.!!!!! Mind you, I don't remember a great deal form those days. (I was living in Shepherds Bush when we parted company)
  5. It is pretty straight forward to replace the pulley wheel itself. However, you will need to run a shorter gates belt or an extended belt tensioner. I run a shorter belt on mine. For a 68mm pulley, the Gates belt part number is 68416 6PK1638. Darren at G-Werks will sell you one. Another thing you will need to establish is what chip you are currently running. If you are running a std pulley, the likelyhood is that you are also running the standard OEM chip. If you resort back to a 68mm set-up you will need a re-mapped chip. The last but most important thing - when is your charger due for its service/rebuild? If its soon get it done first or it could go KAHBOOM with the extra stress of running the smaller pulley wheel. Hope this helps
  6. It is not illegal for a post 92 car to have no cat! It is only illegal for a manufacturer to build one without the cat. The MOT test only requires that post 92 cars pass a 'cat' test. The car does not actually have to have a cat fitted to pass the test, and some cars have such low emissions that they can easily pass without the cat. You should be ok - I think August 92 is the cut off date. I run a CAT by-pass on my 92 G60 which goes through its MOT every year with no problems - the power gain is quite noticable too.

    Exhaust Rattle

I had a similar problem on my MK1 Golf. It turned out to be the down pipe/manifold joint blowing.

    New Scirocco

Sh** That was always my concern too - vw tend to water-down their concepts. I wish they would just go for it for a change. We'll have to wait and see. How much did you need to put down if you don't mind me asking? PM if you want it kept privvy.
  9. Is anyone on here considering getting one? I am. It could be the answer to my prayers. No more frigging about with the G60 keeping it in fettle, no more fixing it when things go wrong, warranty, suspension - the list goes on. I just hope it looks as good in the flesh when they release it. Will the forum be adding a new thread for it or will we banished from this place?
  10. I would have killed for a ramp when I was doing mine. Unfortunately I don't have access to one so I suffered big time.
  11. My friend has the new ST 220 Focus - it is very quick. We often discuss who's car is the quickest, my tuned G60 or his ST Focus. They both put out roughly the same power but deliver it in very different ways. Turbo vs SC. We used to spend a good deal of time in each others cars as we used to do a car share for work, but we cannot draw any conclusions. To be honest - I'd rather own the ST. Its new, its fast, its reliable, it has 4 doors plus a warranty. What can I say. However - I am eagerly awaiting the new IROC before jumping to any rash conclusions about what to buy next.
  12. Funny thing - my wife Sarah was the one who persuaded me to get the C in the first place. I'd always liked them, and when I got rid of my Vento VR6 I was unsure of what to get. I bought this one with a full blessing. I had a MKII Rocco GTi when I first met her, and she loved that too.
  13. Cheers - I thought I'd write the guide because it was such a c**t of a job to do.
  14. I think it's in Dubai, this sort of thing is quite popular out there. (Very illegal though)
