New VR6 owner in Swadlincote, Derbyshire area

I tend to go a bit OTT as I've had all the plastic liners off cleaned, repainted and lacquered them. To aid getting them off in the future I've also replaced all the fixings with stainless ones so it won't take a week to get them off again. Really impressed how these cars are put together as with it being German everything (to now that is) is so logical in the way it comes off and is refitted. -
I see what your saying... Good tip, I'm on it. Thanks

It's a 1995 M plate in LC6U green ( I think that's the right paint code) it's got full black leather with heated seats, it's even got the original matts front and back and the sunroof works! I've done loads to it since I got in in November, it's had all new fluids, brake callipers, disks and pads all round. A full service with new spark plugs, leads and a coil pack as it had got a big split in the side of it. The throttle body and Maff have been off and cleaned and I also changed the sump and gasket as it was "weeping" a bit. The idle's not brilliant on it at the minute but I'm working on that and it's being Terra Cleaned next Saturday so hopefully that will clean the injectors. The front fogs were completely gone due to the heat so I have changed them for the JOM ones you can buy from Germany and there absolutely brilliant and well worth the money. The paints a little tired where it's just been left with years of dust on it and the garage it was in was only small so it's been knocked a bit, from a distance it looks immaculate but within a meter you can tell so I had someone out Thursday so price up to paint it which I'll have done in July/August time. The forum is really good as I like reading and it tells you where to look for problems, one I found was where dirt gets trapped behind the fuel filler neck and corrodes the body out. I've taken the fuel tank out (really quite easy) and cleaned POR 15 any rust, stone chipped and repainted all the wheel arches in the original body colour, looks brand new but without the forum I wouldn't know where to look. I've also changed the suspension to coil overs as the originals were as rusty as hell plus is lowered the car just that bit. Really enjoying the challenge.. Sorry going on a bit now.. -

Still trying to figure out how to upload photos.. Once I do there will be loads!! -
Hi everyone, Really proud to finally be an owner of one of these great cars, I was very lucky and managed to find one that had been garaged for 11 years and not used at all in that time so it's absolutely rock solid and in great condition for 21 years old.. I'm lucky in the fact that I tend to go a little OTT when i fancy doing stuff and the wife's totally on board so I've got a proper two post ramp and VCDS and a garage full of tools If anyone ever needs some help a ramp or VCDS and your around my area please feel free to let me know as it would be great to meet up with other Corrado owners.

Sorry, do you mean check the ECU temperature against what's being sent to the dash temp gauge?
-
Thanks VW_OwneR_85 I have actually cleaned the MAF sensor but I think your right I think I'll get a blue temp sender and try it but I think I'll also try and find out how to test the ISV is working as the new one I fitted could be as bad as the old one I took off!
-
I suppose the new ISV could be faulty, how do you know if they are working as I heard that they "hum" meaning it's supposedly working but will it just do this with the ignition on and the engines cold or do you need to have it running to check if it "humming" that way?
-
I know this has been covered endlessly and I have read what seems like think everything to do with idle issues but I've still got the same problem so sorry if this is old news!! The car is fine when warm in fact after 3-4 minutes of running from cold it's not to bad but it's those first couple of minutes that's the problem as it's hard to keep it going.I get a constant error code of 00533 idle speed regulation 09-00 Adaptation limit surpassed on VCDS. I've replaced the ISV with a brand new one and this has made no difference at all and I still get the error code! I've got no air leaks and I have replaced the PCV as it had split with a brand new one. I've had the throttle body off and fully cleaned it and thats fine, it's had new plugs, leads and a brand new coil pack and a very though service with all the fluids being replaced. The only thing I haven't replaced is the BLUE temp sender which I believe sends information to the ECU when cold? Could this is if faulty cause poor idling when cold? Is there anything I have missed or I can test to get a little closer to what the problem might be?? Just to put it out there I'm having it Terra Cleaned next Saturday so this should clean the injectors etc but I don't think there at fault as its not to bad when warm albeit a bit lumpy sometimes. Any ideas on any think I can try!

Could someone help me confirm oil preasure switch part numbers for a VR6? Had a major oil leak this morning from the left hand black switch so I need to replace it along with the right hand brown one. The black switch I think says 068-919-081 ( 1.2-1.6 bar) is this the correct part number? The brown switch I can't read but I believe this has been superseded to a blue switch, part number please?? Thank you??

That answers that question then... New one it is... Thank you

Do we know if Conlog immobilizes are standard on Corrado's ? I've got one fitted to mine but I've only got one fob that I got with the car so if I loose it I'm in trouble.. Do we know if all the fobs are the same as I've looked at the control module and it's as basic as can be so I wouldn't have thought it needs programming for new fobs. Is it a 90's car that any Conlog fob will start it or is it programmed via the ECU if it is an original VW one. Can you still get Fob's? Any ideas anyone??

Thanks Sean.. That's really helpful..

Hi everyone, I've got a VR6 which has got some dodge alloys on it from when I brought it, I want to put some original Sport lines back on which I've found (5 hole) but the tyres that are fitted which need replacing as their worn out are 195's and I believe VR6's had 205's. Not being a tyre expert would that be an issue or are these alloys which are visually identical to what would have been original different? The stamp on the alloy is : 6 1/2J x 15H2 ET43 Thanks for any help..
