  1. I develop business intelligence solutions. Previously had an accounting background. Hated accounting but love current role as it's a mixture of technical IT skills and face to face business contact to develop end to end solutions.

I specialise on Infor d/EPM so if any one is using this product contact me :)

  2. So I’ve been in conversations with Larkspeed – very helpful – about the B12 kit and I’m considering pulling the trigger – however the rear springs in their kit are the ones with Part Number 85 13 002 which reading the threads on here seem to be the ones that lower too much at the rear on some cars. They know about the problems with this kit and will replace with the 85 12 002 springs if I have problems. Apparently there isn’t any way to know if I need the revised springs until it’s fitted so has anyone got any ideas on how I can be sure as I’d rather not mess about fitting and re-fitting and I just know my wife will give it to me in the ear for “messing” about with the car, especially if it ends up costing more money and time fitting.

It’s a bit of headache and I might just replace my standard shocks with Bilstein B4s and forget about it. Certainly cheaper (£220 for 4 on ebay) and one of my main criteria’s is not to move too far away from standard. It’s a shame I can’t just source some springs from an earlier VR and fit them to mine over the standard B4 shocks, by all accounts it seems the only suspension changes with the VR relate to the top spring plate at the front on later cars and spring length changes. All were “plus” wide track suspension. I’ve found references on this forum that late rear springs are 360mm uncompressed/off car where as early ones were 345mm = the circa

    Meh!

  3. Hi,

I found my scanning port under the gear leaver but I was expecting to see the 2x2 port. I've instead got the 16 pin OBD port instead. The car is a 95 VR6 - does this mean the car is OBD2? What's the difference between the ports/OBD types?

I am looking to buy a scanning tool so unsure if this makes any difference to the tool i buy. My other car is a '13 Seat Exeo 170 which i would also like to be able to use the tool for too.

    Cheers,

    Matt

  4. Hey all,

I have the original Sony headunit with the cassette deck. It works fine with a cassette and goes on and off with ignition as expected.

But the radio doesn’t work at all. No fizzing noise just silent.

Where shall I start my checks - any usual problems in this area?

    Cheers

    Matt

  5. Thanks wompa. I like the height at the back - it looks slightly higher vs the B12 kit on Edds actually. I have seen a full H&R cup kit which is 40mm all round for less than 400 quid which would suit me if the front was a little higher. What’s the ride like on yours?

    Cheers

  6. I would say go for it and 3 weeks ago I was in a similar position. For 15 years I'd wanted something special and Corrado VR6 was always on my list, but having a family/marriage and buying houses always took priority.

Now also seems to be good time to buy a Corrado if you believe the hype of them going up in value. I'm gutted I missed out on the BMW e30s and remember when nice 325i Sports were circa £3k for a nice one - now look at them!

  7. Cheers Hasan, it's really the rear that sits up too high (imo) - is it even possible to get the lowercups for the rear. I don't know much about them to be honest but can't help but think a suspension kit with dampers tuned to suit spring length is better.

  8. I am still flitting around on what to do. I think pictures of B12 and H&R setups will help :) Before and after would be good! Sometimes I think I should just leave it standard and replace with a set of Bilstein B4 OEM spring height shocks. My front shock is only leaking a little and MOT not due until August so I have some time.

I will be changing my suspension in some shape for form as I've bought new top mounts and bumpstops all round.

I have searched for this but most of the threads are old and the pictures have gone/photobucket hosting error.

    Cheers

  9. Hi,

Just replacing my PCV valve as the casing is ripped and I was just wondering what the connecting piece with the part number 021103687 is for. I have attached a picture, it is the grey part.

When connected to the car it has a wiring terminal plugged into it but as far as I can see there is no electrical contact points on the part - What is the point of it?!

    Cheers

  10. Hi all,

I've noticed my VR is more difficult to start when warmed up. When cold and left for days it cranks a 2/3 times and fires up. After a longer drive it doesn't start so easily and I instinctively give it a bit of throttle to get it going.

I've read on here that it is a bit of quirk of the VR and also read about checking the FPR and blue coolant sensor. How do I check these? My mechanic put his VAG-COM on it last week but nothing was listed.

    Cheers

  11. My mechanic remarked my car felt a little lumpy when warm after he gave it a once over last week (I’ve only had it for a few weeks and hadn’t really noticed). We did spot the PCV pipe was split (Part No: 7M0 128 101) and I’ve ordered a replacement but yet to receive and fit. This is our first line of investigation as the car is showing no fault codes. An air leak would give symptoms of rough running though so maybe you have something similar.

I find my car can be a little snatchy on the throttle – i.e when coming off or on of the throttle while cruising it doesn’t feel smooth but then at other times it’s fine. I don’t get exactly the same symptoms as yours but thought it was similar enough to post my experiences so far.

  12. I like the look of these H&R springs - checked out your gallery/thread fendervg. Thanks from the heads up on the spring cups Cressa - I've seen these in my research, I take it I need to source a couple of them from gsf/tps and replace what's on my car to no ill effect?

Next question... what's the differece between ABE and Typ 53i? For exmaple I'm looking at these two options for the VR6 on this website for HR springs http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=hrsprings;car=vwcorrado;manufacturer=hr;sub_category=1

    Thanks!

  13. Thanks for the Info :)

Some more searching seems to suggest blestein B6 and some suitable 20-30mm springs (suggestions and pics much appreciated).

I’m reading the B6s are dampers suitable for standard to up to -30mm spring drops which is the sort of thing I am after. I want to retain comfort and not too low.
