  1. Hi,

I’m doing my research on suspension options as I need to replace the front shocks on my 95 VR6. I like the OEM plus look and want my car to sit a little lower.

I have been considering the B12 kit but after reading people having loads of issues with the rear springs it’s put me off.

I basically want my car to sit similar to an early VR6. Can I achieve this by just buying early style springs? Why are the later cars sitting higher than the first?

Feel free to post pics of corrados on speedlines with modest drops :)

    Cheers

  2. When it rains I get a small pool of water on the door sill (visible when you open the door).

Would this be the window scraper seal that needs replacing as it doesn’t sit flush with the door frames when doors are closed? I’ve got a bit of rust there on both sides because of it.

    Thanks

  3. Hey all, I’ve read bits of this thread. I have a standard 95 VR6 and need to replace one of the front shocks as it is leaking. The rest of the suspension looks original, so I am thinking rather than buy a couple standard shocks, too mounts and bump stops I had may as well do the whole lot with a decent kit.

I want something that just gives a very modest drop to keep it looking standard. I’ve sort of concluded the blestein b12s are my best bet. Should I be considering anything else. Blesteins appear to be around the 600 quid mark. I’ve read some stuff about HA and VA springs in this kit - what’s that all about?

  4. As of two weeks ago I now own N865WJL - White VR6. It has had a couple of private number plates on it in the past (C*OMA & K*ELM) but this is the original plate it was first registered with.

Currently being serviced by my mechanic on my driveway. It's a good example and has been well looked after. I would love to hear from previous owners if you're out there looking.

  5. Well thread closed for me unless others want to post ideas for others. I found the Evolva for £79.99 on Amazon and considering it will last the kids until they're 12 it's not such bad value after all vs. other seats and at least I know this one will fit!

  6. Hi,

I need to buy a couple of car seats for my Corrado for my girls – a 2 and 4 year old (she’s not far off 5 so seats past 4 years old would be better). What are you guys running? Last time I bought seats I was able to narrow down my selection using online seat finders but the Corrado doesn’t seem to feature on their lists.

Bless ‘em - I need to sort this out pronto as they’re both itching to be taken out in my new car!

    Cheers

  7. Hi,

Not sure if I am missing some trim but by wiper motor is exposed, including the wire connectors. I opened my bonnet whilst wet yesterday and the motor and wires got covered in water.

I'd like to source a scuttle cover or a wiper motor cover but haven't had much luck on googling. VW heritage are out of stock/not in production on the left side scuttle cover and I found on here some references to a passat B3 wiper motor cover but again can't find anywhere to buy one!

I wasn't much of a fan of that aftermarket one piece scuttle (is it SKS or something).

I'm going for OEM on this car or probably eventually OEM+. Any suggestions?

    Cheers all

  8. I’ve been doing some reading on this forum where it seems the standard undersealing is pretty good and I suppose it is as it’s lasted 23 years and my only corrosion is around the jacking points. I also picked up that undersealing the entire car could look like I am trying to hide something come resale.

I’m now thinking I should just patch repair the jacking points and save myself the cash on undersealing. Hopefully the money I have available will allow me to fix the others patches of rust I have.

  9. Hey I’m looking to have the rust spots repaired and I would like the underside cleaned down and resealed with Waxoyl or similar, inc injecting into hard to reach parts. I just want to ensure it stays solid under there but am on a learning curve with bodywork.

  10. Thanks Cressa for the tips :) Yeah take a look at the pics when you get a mo.

I've got about a £grand spare for bodywork so hoping i can get the undersealing done and the rust fixed. I am lucky my rust is in locations not on show.

  11. I picked up my Corrado last weekend and starting to make my list of jobs to do. I’ve popped a post-up in the newbie thread with some pictures of the car. This car is already a keeper I love it! So refreshing to drive after years of dreary 4 pot diesels, some of them supposedly “sporty”.

I bought the car with a few bits to do, it looks lovely bodywork wise and has benefited from a blow over spray which is mostly good but there are couple of niggles where masking wasn’t tight enough against trim. In terms of exterior work I thought it would be great to get your guys tips and recommendations so thought I’d list the things I’ve come across:

1.The door sills /door aperture have some rust under the plastic kick trim. It looks like water collects here and I was thinking this was because the door seals needed replacing? I’ve seen the seals thread but before I part with £80 quid I wanted get your opinions. I will get the rust repaired too.

2.Terminology question – I noticed one of the previous MOT’s said “rear sub frame has surface rust but not structurally weakened” or something similar. When I looked under the car the rear axle beam appears to have been painted in something black and looks good to me, is this the part they refer to as the rear sub frame? The rest of the underneath looks pretty good to me but I am no expert – there’s some surface scabs around the front jack points but I can’t stick a screw driver through any of it or flake anything off, some not so great pictures attached. I would like to catch it now and get it fixed though.

3.Undersealing – any recommendations on where to get this done? I’m under the impression it might be a good idea to keep it sweet. I’m based in South Hertfordshire but don’t mind a bit of travel. From what I’ve read I think I am looking at about £500 to get it cleaned, injected and undersealed? It would be good if anyone knew of a place that could fix the rust patches on my sills, jacking points and additional a 10pence piece sized scab on the sunroof & around the drain holes on my boot lid too.

    Cheers
