Got a nakamichi cd400 in mine you can pick them up for around £100-200 second hand these days suits the car really well.

This was my old corrado vr was wondering if anyone on here owns it now i sold it about 5 years ago through this site. Would be nice to see what its doing now and maybe buy it back at some point i miss it loads.

I run a pair of genesis audiophile 5.25 comps in mine and they sound stunning. Maint thing to do when changing speakers is to sound proof the doors with dynamat or something alont those lines. Even standard speakers sound 10 times better with sound deadening fitted.

Nope runs sweet as a nut once its above idle the tappets stop complaining and its still goes really well it just smokes when it feels like it.

the tappets do complain thats how i fouund the oil pressure was low its putting out just under 1 bar on idle and 3 on the power this was all checked by stealth and it has the oil in it that they put in so it shyould be correct. Doesnt matter how much you run it at 4.5k could be all day it will still smoke

No idles fine defo oil smoke though

Ok in this cas what else can i check before i let it go for silly money ?

I was told it will cause the oil pressure to drop and push the oil past the rings due to the bottom end having too much pressure

Wasnt me mate it moonlight blue pearl. Its still has good compression on all 6 but it has low oil pressure hence replacing the oil pump. It doesnt use much oil at all and only smokes from 4.5k ish so it points to main bearings. I have just had to pay for a funeral so i have no cash to get it dont and no way of getting the sort of cash i will need for a good couple of years. Its probably got another 50k in it yet but i have already spent 9.5k on it. Its still putting out 200 ish on the rollers. So whats it worth in its current state ?

Yeah it is a vr6 whats it worth knowing that the bttom end needs doing ? Its still running fine but smokes some times I have not long spent 2k having the top end rew built and new oil pump. Its a 94 with 140k factory fit electric recaros, tt comps,miltek stainless, carbon bmc, and far too much other stuff to list

Just had a quote for a bottom end re build £2200+vat :shock: :shock: Is this about the going rate or can it be done for a bit less ?

Its a 94 They said the pressure on tickover was just under 1 bar and only 3 bar under load. It only smokes when you back off for a while let it overun then stick your foot down again and it will puff out blue smoke then its fine again. Not tried the smoking thing since I found out the pressure was low only drove it back from the garage to decide what to do as they quoted 300 ish for doing the pump

My vr has noisy tappets they have only done 2k. I took it back to the place that did my top end re build and they found it had very low oil pressure. They said it could be the big ends or the oil pump it is also burning a bit of oil all 6 plugs have oil on them. Whats everyone thoughts on this ?

Well just got it compression tested and all looks ok. They think its pulling in oil from the rocker breather as all the plugs had a bit of oil on them. Come to think of it I replaced the pipe 2 weeks ago as the old one had a huge hole in it. Going to run it with a breather filter for a while to see if that helps then go from there.

Yeah checked the one on the cam cover nothing blobking it. Oh and the smoke is blue

Yeah thought about a breather I took the one off the rocker cover and i didnt help. It had a recon head was thinking it could have been a bad recon job. Is there any other pipes i need to check ?

Just had the top end re built about 2k ago. Now its smoking from 4.5k up even with no load. Is this rings or could it be something else. It never smoked one bit until the re build. If its rings what sort of cost am i looking at for a bottom end re build ?

Lol no it did 136k on just the one i had it changed when i had the top end re built and the chains done

I am only the second owner of my vr. The first owner was female and owned it for 9 years from new

I run 36 front and 32 rear on my vr on 205/40/17s

My vr6 came with the original purchase bill of 22k but it has electric recaros

£70 ish and pretty hard to get hold of. Doesnt sound any different but runs qa lot smoother low down
