  1. Have heard from a friend that there is a G60 for sale in Glenrothes. Red with black interior, around 84k but with no history and white 18inch wheels. Anyone know the car? It's for sale at £1850 as far as i know but my mate didn't buy as it wasn't the right car for him. Its owned by an 18 year old who bought it and then could'nt insure it so wants rid of asap. My m8 said it has been painted recently and looks to be covering a fairly dog eared body, interior was good, didn't look like the charger had ever been touched but had a reciept for a recent exhaust manifold and boost check at 7PSI, he didn't even start it as he'd allready made up his mind by then not to buy. The guy who went to see it has lost the owners number so if anyone knows the car or is the owner i'd be interested in finding out more. Cheers
  2. Should be run in by then i would think, especially as they do appear soft from what i have heard. Could have just been a bad bit of road especially in this weather. Must admit though coming from Goodyear F1's you wont really get many tyres that can compete with them in the wet
  3. How many miles have you done on them? Sounds like they are still quite green and could do with some more miles on them before you see the proper grip.
  4. Have used Colways and Maxsports Intermediate tyre for track days and i have to admit that they are very good for the money. Are available in different compounds and are road legal. Just  They are both based on remoulds but they have come a long way since the days of the tread leaving the carcase behind. The super soft inters dont last long, last set on my Mk1 Fearesta lasted around 50 laps of Knockhill, around 60 miles. They are evil in the wet but awesome in the dry and will do airfields and slight loose. A great choice if you have a spare set of rims for the track.
  5. Ad says its a trader so i would assume he knows what hes got. If it was closer to me i'd go have a look just to see if it was the bargain it sounds!
  6. Has to be worth a look for someone at this price. 1995 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO 2.9 STORM, M reg. 67000 miles, met. green, cream leather, pas, alloys, electric spoiler, air con, abs, e/sunroof, e/windows, remote c/locking, alarm, private plate, fsh, excellent condition. £3,895.

    V6 4 motion

Dont bother with an R32. The 4 Motion is better value for money and IMO a better car than that jumped up overweight MK4 flagship. The R32 is a tad over rated and are great on a test drive or a quick blast in one of your mates cars but as an every day motor they are no way worth their huge price tag. Ride is far too harsh, fuel consumption is shocking and they are just not quick enough by a long way. I drive one every month and i am still not impressed, the 4 Motion it replaced was a better car all round and far cheaper, the Recaros in the 4 Motion were better seats too even though the R32 seats look fantastic. If the R32 had 350BHP and a better drive train i could forgive the appauling ride quality and thirst but it doesn't and like i said i'm still not impressed. Buy a 4 Motion. And last but not least, Volkswagen then decided to introduce their fastest ever Golf in a 5 door version. Need i say any more.
  8. They are cheap though and only cost around £15
  9. What a marvellous invention  Indeed they are but dont allways work I just recently removed a set of old VAG ones from a VR6 Golf and they were a nightmare because the wheels that were on it didn't allow me to get one of the removers over the head of the locking nut. I eventually removed the entire hubs front and rear from the car with the wheels and brakes attatched and took them down to main stealer who kindly let me go through all thier master keys till i found the right one to remove the nuts. I now have a nice set of speedline 5 spokes for my trouble that are off to be refurbed, and before you ask i scrapped the car so it wouldn't have been easier to drive it down
  10. Get down to your local motorfactors and buy a set of locking wheel nut removers. They come in a set of 3 and cover most sizes, best used with an air gun and have a left handed threah on the inside of a socket which cuts into the outside of the locking wheel nut and locks when it reaches the bottom. It then continues to remove the offending lock nut and causes no damage to the wheel but does render the lock nut scrap.
  11. IMO VW dont build a good enough 4 wheel drive system to use on your car. :? The syncro and Haldex systems are about as far removed from performance as you can get.The syncro is agricultural and the Haldex is useless without its computer to control it and even then its not that great. The Audi system is far superior but can not be adapted to fit the transverse engine configuration. To launch the car in a straight line then any 4 wheel drive will do a better job than front wheel drive but when it comes to handling and power distribution you need front and rear LSD and a centre slipper to really get the best. I agree with the fact that a well setup front end with correct castor/camber/toe and diff settings can be awesome and dependant on power its would be the best way to go IMO. Dont be misled into thinking that because you have 4 wheel drive your cornering speeds will be greater though as it is mechanical grip from your tyres that keeps you on the road and not how many driven wheels, they only help when you start to lose grip. Best stick the engine in the back and rear wheel drive it.
  12. Brake pipe and ends are available from motor factors and are not expensive, you will need a cutter and pipe flaring tool to do the job. Its a bit of a pain if you dont have a ramp but would basically consist of you remanufacturing new pipe lengths with unions and replacing the existing ones. Doing the whole car will take a while, i would reckon without a ramp you would be looking at putting the best part of a day aside to be safe. The ones from the servo across the bulkhead are especially difficult to get too. Best to do what stevemac says and get the MOT station to do the job if youre not keen.
  13. Black G60 and Blue VR6 in Perth today.
  14. 2wd Sapphire Cossie is the fastest of them all and can get from standstill to 60 in 6.1 secs allthough most tested at the time were more like 5.8 and on to 150mph. You have to be very brutaul to get the most out of these cars as the gearchange is very slow and its easy to get wrong even with a quickshift as standard. To be honest a good standard cossie should beat a VR6 hands down in a straight line, add in a few corners and its more a case of who has the biggest gonads, even worse of its wet. I have owned a 3 door and a Sapphire and as a far as a drivers car then the 3 door is without doubt one of the best the steering and brakes are without equal IMHO. They are big and heavy but the rewards for pushing them hard are a massive grin, but more through fear than fun. As far as chipped cars then we all know the pub talk "mines has 400bhp" but honestly if you had that much and drove on a daily basis you wouldn't be alive for long. I had a genuine 350bhp and i couldn't keep the thing in rear tyres never mind in a straight line.
