is that not standard boost level?
-
i would say at about 5k if i then back it off in 4th gear it will boost right up to 13 again but it wont do this in 5th the timing was set to 6 degrees before top dead centre which i believe is correct.
-
my boost is bleeding off 4 psi at the top of the rev range in 4th and 5th gears, any ideas chaps? had the timing belt changed and the timing needed setting up again, could this be the problem? cheers, Rob

one guy i spoke 2 told me superchargers were crap and i should get a turbo and i wasnt that inpressed when i went there to have my car checked over. thats my opinion though before people start to shoot me down!!
-
dont think i would take my car back to jabbasport again, i think supercharged is a dirty word over there!
-
i wont do it myself but im just wondering if i need to get vw to do it or someone who wont rape my wallet
-
how hard is it to change the cambelt and tensioner on a g60 compared to a standard 8v engine? will any garage be able to do it or is it more specialist than that? does anyone the rough price of the cambelt and tensioner change on a g60? cheers, Rob

inyxx (or however it is spelt) make a single bonnet lifter for the corrado and mine works just fine
-
when i remove the silencer box on the outlet of the g60 charger, is there a flange where i can attach my samco hose to reroute the intercooler piping, or will i need to get some sort of outlet? cheers, Rob

also check the wire that runs from the battery to the starter motor. the nut came off mine and my battery light kept coming on and the battery was not charging properly

graham_E, thats my baby in that pic!! ive been spotted!!! you didnt see the US yellow g60 then? had the leather covers over the front of the bonnet and bumper. there was a blue 16v knocking about aswell
-
is the amperage of the alternator on the g60 a standard size? eg 90amps? or can you get other ratings for said car? this then leads me to the second part of the enquiry...... is the voltage regulator on the g60 a standard rating? or are there a variety of regulators? this would obviously only apply if you can get different size alternators! cheers once again guys and gals
-
we know what you drive and what you do!but how old are you??

20 now and bought my g60 when i was 19. that put a few peoples noses out of joint!! -
good ol boys! i think i may have sorted it with a new voltage regulator. the clocks sometimes bounce around tho. i would say it happens with bumps so im guessing that there is a dodgy connection somewhere? it affects both the rev counter and the speedo so is there a common wire for bothy or am i needing to look somewhere else?
-
right o then!! shall be sorting this 2nite if i can! where abouts is the regulator with regards to the alternator? i would presume that it is attached to the alternator? would you recommend getting some new brushes aswell? i would imagine thi wouldnt hurt if i did
-
do you keep the voltage regulators in stock then steve? is this to do with the alternator?
-
mk2 golf 16v, starter motor just clicks ????HELP?????
Rob_B replied to B17 G60's topic in Engine Bay
probably a sticky solenoid on the starter motor. it has been known that if you tap the starter motor it can free off the solenoid. (or indeed smack it fairly hard) mine sometimes does this but i find that locking and unlocking the car helps it along! -
i guess its cheaper than replacing the alternator!! will give it a go i think. cheers G60JET, i knew someone would lead me in the right direction!
-
no i havent. where would you get these from?
