Haha good luck with these, i can EXACTLY this problem when one of my stalk broke, i gave up and brought a 2nd hand one. What you need to do is:- compress the little spring Put the two metal pieces INSIDE the spring so they look like this ][ what this does is keeps the spring compressed. then you have to put it inside the wiper stalk hole, but this is the tricky bit, the bottom of the ][ needs to go through the hole and clip onto the back of it, when you look at the stalk you'll see the hole has enough space to push the spring and ][ though and turn it so that the metal things clip aounrd the back of the black plastic lungs in the hole and keep the spring in. I spent an hour with this and gave up.

fuse box is on right hand side of drivers foot well, its a tray that slots out, you have to pull down the two clips holding it to the dash.

ah right, so it may not have anything to do with the wires thar ive taken out from the old lock?

If people have the same problem, does this mean there are unlocked corrado's out there!!! just been thinking, and there is that bit that goes in the middle of the door handle, i asume the then solenoid pushed the door pin up it rotates the lock barrel, maybe this has something to do with it?

Brought a pair of handles off ebay with the changed stricker so it opens the door, took old one off, fitted passenger one, tried it, it opened the door when unlocked, then i locked the car and tried it, and it still opened? is there something else im missing from the handle?

i like them 2nd ones, i've got a set of speedlines in my garage, i may try that with them!

what suspension kit it is?

Open your bonnet, look at the gear box, you'll see two cables, the one nearst the front of the car has a bolt, the bolt head will be facing the front of the car, undo the bolt and the bolt will slide from left to right, the cable is FIXED onto the bolt so moving the bolt will slacken or tighten the cable. Move it until you can get into first ok. I had exactly the same problem, quick fiddle with the cable and it was PERFECT after!

yeah, the socket for the plug is tucked right behind the steering shroud making it hard to get to. Think ill try n get a corrado stalk.

I dont get what you mean by 'Have you tried connecting it in to the existing wiring and checking everything works OK even if the stalk is not in the right place?' The lead for MFA wont actually reach the socket for the plug as its 15" too short! but dont realy want to start chopping wiring up, just want a plug and play one.

Just got hold of a wiper stalk from a golf, looks exactly the same as the corrado one but the MFA wire is about 15" too short! it looks like this.. But ive seen two on ebay and found this one, which the wire looks the right length, ebay title is, MK3 VW GOLF GTI/VR6 WIPER STALK & WITH MFA CONTROL and this one which the wire is too short?? VW GOLF MK3 GTI/VR6/CORRADO VR6 MFA /WIPER SWITCH Please help!
