    my 20v again

Is the vent pipe that used to go to the carbon can blocked off?. Its the middle pipe between the 2 fuel lines in the engine bay.
  2. Do you seriously have to open that valve when cold, wait for it to warm up then get out and close that valve?. Why not get it mapped properly so the ECU controls the cold start fueling.
  3. If you want to run using your mac book with windows through boot camp or parallels desktop you will need the proper Rosstech cable, the serial>usb cables you get on ebay dont work. Well, at least the one i bought didnt. It worked with a proper windows laptop fine. I have heard reports that people have had the proper rosstech one working under bootcamp fine.
  4. :D very rough figures for 20v would be 1k for engine, 1k electrics, £500 for other bits then labour on top.
  5. He's running DTA so there is no MAF. Check the coolant temp sender as can cause running problems. They are a common fault on the 1.8T.
  6. Have you tried checking if you are getting voltage at the 2 injectors?. You can try a 12v LED in the connector.
  7. But you will not need the mapping software or CAN box as the ECU will come with a calibration on for your specific engine. I have done 3 20v corrado conversions and 1 mk2 and used the QPEng kit for all of them and they have been faultless. I doubt if you add up the cost of the DTA it will be cheaper than the Quantum kit.
  8. You have PM. 6spd box a PITA to fit and very heavy because of the transfer box bolted to it which you wont need being only FWD. It will also need custom mounts and driveshafts. Your g60 box will bolt straight to the 1.8t block which is the much easier option.
  9. Ok, sorry, should have said very unlikely to happen :D
  10. Fibre-glass chassis?! Surely TVR use something a bit more substantial for a chassis than fibre-glass...like tubular steel? The chassis' are made from tubular and box section steel, only the body is fibreglass.
  11. yes, fuel pipes do run fairly near to the exhaust manifold and get go brittle with age and crack, but no chance of them actually catching fire if the battery runs flat you cant use the push button door entry, but there is a "secret" way in as with all cars you have to maintain them, the sierra calipers (cosworth) work fine header tank is not from a mk2, its a custom ali one, it just uses a mk2 cap. if you get a 4.0 you will wish you got the 5.0! main thing to look out for is chassis rust, the finish from the factory was poor and rust can quickly take hold which is a major job to repair.

    G60 PAS pump

Ah OK. Didnt know the KR came with 2 different types of pumps. The pump i have is certainly different. Is has a screw in oil feed on the top, do the other type use a banjo type connection?

    G60 PAS pump

The pump is G60 specific, it has a longer shaft than the 16v pump.
  14. The AGU block is the only transverse engine that isnt DBW so if you want to run factory management with no DBW that is what you will have to use. The AGU is only 150BHP though. You are better off going standalone really, by the time you have had the immobiliser removed from the ECU and had it remapped its no more expensive
  15. BAM engine is good, you will need a cable throttle from an AGU engine or an 8v2.0 mk3, both of these will bolt straight up. If you are not using DBW then i presume you will not be using OEM management so will need a standalone ECU. QPEng do a plug and play kit that comes complete with modified harness, MAP sensor and MBE ECU and is pre mapped for about 270BHP on a BAM. You can use your existing gearbox and upgrade to a VR6 clutch with is more than up to handling the power. You will need to find a suitable front mount intercooler, G60 one is the easiest to fit as requires minimal modification, just a bit of hacking of the slam panel. I have done a couple of 20vt's into corrados so feel free to ask any other questions.
  16. This is because the new turbo engines are direct injection. The injector sits where the 5th valve was.
  17. Are you certain you have the right bolt?, its a fairly short one. Also check the mount isnt spinning while trying to tighten it, there is a locating pin on the bottom of it which should sit in a hole to prevent the mount spinning while tightening.
  18. Ideally you want 2 trolley jacks, 1 under the gearbox and the other under the engine, then just pull it out. You can do it with 1 but it gets a bit wobbly and mind you feet!.

    ECU Blown

I'm presuming you mean the car does turn over on the starter but doesnt fire?. Cranking has nothing to do with the ECU
  20. If the engine is bare you will also need the alternator. Dont need the PAS pump from the 20v but you will need one from a mk2 golf or similar as the G60 pump wont fit as the shaft is too long. Best to stick a new clutch on while its all apart. VR6 one is best. Also good idea to change the cambelt while the engine is out so thats another £20 for the belt. you may want to do the tensioner and water pump too depending on the mileage of the engine. If you use standalone management then the BAM FBW throttle is no good so you'll need a cable one for about £50. Oil change is another £30 for some fully synth and a filter. On vince's car all these bits and others e.g hose clips, hoses, charge pipes, filters etc came to ~ £500. On top of that you need an intercooler and the exhaust sorting. If you have a
  21. QPEng kit is £850+VAT if you have the wiring harness that comes with the engine. It includes the MBE ECU with a 270BHP map on, a MAP sensor and the modified wiring harness. Budget around another £500 for other bits and pieces you will need + an intercooler. £950 is a good price for a BAM if it comes with all the ancillaries. You wont need the A/C compressor or PAS pump that comes with it. Any idea of the mileage its done?
  22. K04 Turbo on the 225BHP engines has to have a bit of a funky downpipe to clear the rear engine mount and steering U/J. K03 and K03s are much easier as the outlet points down instead of to the side. Bobby, Ravi's MK3 uses the QPEng kit too, you can switch the boost off so it will be Ballpark figure for DIY is probably about 3k. Bargain 20v engines are pretty scarce at the moment.
  23. I'm running QPEng management which is the same as on Vince's. With a BAM engine it ups the BHP to approx. 270BHP. The 02J 'box in mine is from a Mk4 GTI, ratios seem pretty similar to the 16v 'box. You could do the conversion in a week if you are handy with the spanners. Hardest bit is the wiring if you don't use the QPEng plug and play kit.
  24. My 20V corrado was a 16v before and uses the 16v fuel pumps which are ideal although the g60 pump is more than up to the job too. 16v gearbox does bolt straight up too although i used an 02J in mine. I've done a few conversions now so if you have any questions feel free to ask.
  25. G60 Gearbox will bolt straight up. You wouldn't really want to use the standard G60 intercooler, best to upgrade to a decent sized front mount one as 1.8t charge temps are much higher than the g60. Rallye or G60 front mount coooler will pretty much drop straight in with a bit of work but are expensive. Merc Sprinter one will just about squeeze in between the chassis legs but is much more work. 3.5k drive in/drive out sounds cheap, any idea about what management that is using and does that include the engine cost?
