  1. I remember seeing a post on here a while back about refurbing a set of bbs alloys. It listed the paint codes of the silver paint and laquer from Wurth. It also gave the contact details for Wurth. Did a search but couldn't find it. Anyone know what the paint codes and contact details are?
  2. Yup, i reckon it will be pretty noisey but really liking diesels at the moment. Love the fat torque and good mpg. Anyway i hope the noise of the wind and the stereo will drown it out! My borthers using the car down in Oxford so i haven't got the engine code to hand, but it's the crummy 1.8 8v petrol (75 bhp i think) found in some mk3's. Does anyone know if the AHU engine will fit on the same mounts? Also, would one of the mk4 deisel engines fit?
  3. Hi folks, Looking for a new project. Not really corrado related but VW related at any rate. Trying to get my hands on a TDI engine, code AHU found in mk3 golfs. 90bhp. I'm told that the 110bhp TDI engine found in Mk4's is also an AHU engine, maybe someone can confirm this? Anyway being summer and all i've bought a mk3 golf cab. I want to get shot of the 1.8 in there and put in a diesel engine. Will the diesel fit on the same mounts? Other than the engine, clocks, ecu and gearbox what else am i gonna need? And will the mk4 AHU engine (if there is such a thing) fit? Cheers.

  5. I'm looking at picking up a cheap 16v as a project. It's a 1989, 3 door. Got leccy windows but no PAS. Checked log book, boot sticker and engine no. matches up. It appears to be a genuine 16v but i thought they all had PAS??
  6. Did all Mk2 16v's come with PAS as standard?
  7. The vr6 engines have a auxiliary water pump which circulates water when the ignition is on but the engine isnt running. I think it also comes on when the fans kick in after the engine is switched off (when hot). The noise may just be this. Any other symptoms?
  8. Yeah definately a DIY job. Drain the oil, get the car up on axle stands and undo all the 10mm bolts round the sump. Replace with a genuine VAG gasket.
  9. Have you tried jump starting it? It could well be the battery on the way out from what you've described. I'd rule that out before you start shelling out on parts.
  10. Mine is IH0 907 379A I've seen many with the same number just with a different suffix. The ones i've found in golfs end with an E or a C.
  11. Would one for a golf vr6 with both ABS and EDL work? Do they have the same number of valve blocks?
  12. ok. What significance does the suffix letter have? I've seen a couple with identical part numbers except for the suffix.
  13. The passats got abs and vag-com reads that fine. The passat uses the serial to OBDII socket but i have to use the 2x2 adapter for the corrado. Does the problem lie with the 2x2 adapter?
  14. The abs light is on even though i haven't ask vag-com to scan it. It comes on as soon as the cable is connected.
  15. Hi, I've got a '92 vr6 and i've just got some vag com leads (serial and 2x2 adapter) off ebay with the sofware, version 409.1 and 311.2. I plugged it in to the old dears B5 passat and all is working well. Plugged it in to the corrado and it reads the engine ecu fine. However when i go to read the abs it cant find the abs ecu. The other strange thing is when vag com is plugged in the abs light is on, sometime flashing, sometimes on solid. I've run both versions of the software and there seems to be no difference between them. Any ideas?

    ok. vr6 south - How did you polish the outer rim? Really its only the rim that needs to be refurbed on mine. It appears the elements have got under the laquer and turned the rim white. Did you re-laquer after polishing them? Also, what torque did you tighten the bolts to when putting the wheels back together?

    Hi, I have a set of RX2's (mk3 anniversery) and called a place to get them refurbed. I told the guy on the phone that they are two piece split rims but he seems to think they are three piece and therefore wont touch them. He said something about a seal? Can anyone confirm. Two or three piece?
  20. Did you use any force to pull the driveshaft out of the gearbox? Seems strange it just came out of the gearbox. It is held in the gearbox by a circlip on the end driveshaft flange. If the shaft came out the gearbox on its own chances are the circlip needs replacing. I not just force the flange back in.
  21. Ok, i'll take them off, give the nipples a clean :lol: and re-attach with clips. I take it i'll need to bleed the abs pump after that?
  22. No, haven't touched 'em yet. I take it that they just pull off the reservoir do they? What about the end thats attached to the metal pipe? I cant see how you can release it. It looks as if it's crimped on.
  23. Thanks, already tried that. It's the top pipe thats leaking. I cleaned it all up and have left the car standing a week. Now the bottom pipe is soaked through with fluid and the level in the reservoir has gone down. :roll:
