Plugs and Connectors for Sub and Amp
AKA-Andrew replied to Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
these are really good, its what pa's/nightclubs use, dead easy to use and wire up, done it many times myself -
Well i live in an area with a rating of 7, I knew already that it was one of the lowest in the country
-
I had both inlet manifold off and really it was as simple as munt the cooler, fit the pipes, unscrew the old oil cooler center screw thing, insert the new one with bracket, tighten up and fill with oil. I was also replacing the plastic pipe that runs along the front of the engine to a metal one. Just remember to oil the threads before fitting so you get no leaks

Get a Vibratechnics mount from Stealth Racing
-
i got mine from Stealth and had no problems at all fitting it i would definately recomend getting it from them

0 awg is going to far then?? found this kit that was going to use if 4awg was too small: http://www.cablesexpress.co.uk/shop/pro ... ucts_id=55

I have got my install sorted now equipment wise, now need the wiring sorted out. I have: 1 x Alpine MRV T500, 2 x 50 wRMS @ 4 ohm powering 1 x Set of Infinity 6500cs components (90wRMS@4ohm) And 1 x Alpine MRV T1000, 2 x 100 100 wRMS @ 4 ohm or 1 x 400 wRMS @ 4 ohm powering 2 x Kenwood Tornado Subs (150wRMS@4ohm) Is 4awg suitable for this application, also I may add another set of components and amp of the same spec, would 4awg stil be suitable then. I was also thinking of using 12awg speaker cable, i'm guessing that this is fine.
-
i'm sure it would, i have just basic understanding cos i did mechanical engineering at uni, we still did some electrical in the course though so we had an understanding of it.
-
the Infinitys would be getting powered by an Alpine MRV-T500. It only seems to be the dub world who want to run 4 sets of comps, everybody else seems to think that one set in the front and some subs are perfect, they also seems to hate the infinity referance range, strange
-
i get ya, the phasing thing came out of somebody elses mouth, still new to car audio, trying to catch up all the time
-
also would 2 sets of comps give me phasing problems?
-
so if i had different types of speaker i would want 2 amps?
-
This is what I wanted to know, really is just cos I can get a suitable 2 channel in good condition very cheap and to pick up another the same at a decent price isn't too hard. I do have a decent amount of space as its going in a Vento VR6, loads of space in the boot. I've got a set of Infinity 6500cs, some people like them some not, and i can also get another set hardly used for £50 so prob will. Yep thats what i'm doing
-
4 comps, prob the same, will prob be the same amps if go the 2 amp route
-
Is it better to use 1 x 4 channel amp or 2 x 2 channel amps??
-
Get one of the above, I have Vibratechnics front, back and gear box and I can highly recommend them, yes you do get more vibration from them but they are worth it, you really notice the difference.

If you want to go Blaupunkt for your head unit you can use this: http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/ipod_cable.asp I've got one and the only things I can find wrong is you need to turn the head unit up more and it can be a little slow getting to songs not at the start. I'm using mine with a Gen 3 20 gig one which i'm just going to fill then hide it away somewhere behind the dash out of the way.
-
add £50 and get one of these: http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/losangeles.asp Blaupunkt Los Angeles MP74 radio CD / MP3 receiver I have the older MP72 version and have never had a problem with it. I am currently running a mini-disk AND a i-pod with the i-pod being fully functional through the head unit controls or my remote control on the wheel, add them together with the mp3 and the mmc card and you have the choice of a hell of a lots of tunes
-
here is mine, not the best of pics though:
-
i'm sure mine didn't have a plug on it, mine is removed with no ill affects also got a samco intake from the grill to a BMC CDA and had no problems at all with it

-

-

i'm in that mag to, made me sounds like a right tit though, me snubbing the Jetta was the guys who were watching the shoot that said that and i was told it was going to be edited out of the final draft anyway, not a happy bunny. still don't think my car is anywhere near ready for a feature but hey i was there at the right time and in the right place, they were shooting another guys car that i knew and he mentioned i had a vr6 vento and there eyes lit up as they had never heard of one before. guess i was lucky to be there at the right time. it was done in may last year and alot has changed since then
