Hi, not a corrado, but I can't think who else to ask! Does anyone know what the best quality body kits are for new beetles. My wife is having her beetle sprayed pink and wants to put a spoiler and a few other bits on, but my painter has warned me about crap parts that will cost me more in extra prep than buying a decent one in the first place! :? She has been looking at spoilers for the back and the front bumpers from this guy on ebay, his feedback seems good but I would like to hear some real experences, or if you can recommend a brand or place to get this stuff, I've never modded a car before so don't know where to start. :) Cheers Adam

Family now outgrown the 4 seats she has to offer, I said the littleist could go in the boot but the wife was not impressed! :D I will get another VR one day, but gotta play mr sensible at the mo. :(

just had a search... lol, i did reconnect a stray blue wire behind the fuse box, guess this has something to do with it! I will disconnect tomorrow and see what happens, hope I haven't fried anything. Please lock at will  Thanks

Doh! it seems that ever since my battery was disconnected for some checking on an ABS light fault (94 VR6) my spoiler no longer works on its own. It works fine on the switch but not when you reach 60mph as it used to. Any ideas? Cheers.

Cool, so 15W40 Magnetec and Activ8 could help my 'well run in' engine. Errm, wheres the best and cheapest place to get these to products then, and how much oil do I need? Cheers guys.

Apologies for yet another oil question… Can you guys recommend me an oil for my situation? VR6 with 155,000 miles on the clock. When the engine is cold it is very rattley, and I tend to do most of my miles like this as the car is mainly used for very short journeys. When the engine is warm it is silky smooth, so I'm sure the rattles are down to oil taking its time to get into the top end of the engine. The oil is quite new and was changed by the dealer I brought the car from about 4 months ago, I have no idea what oil this is. Would I be better off with some Magnatec, or does this not make any difference? My usual garage uses Total semi-synthetic, is this ok or would my cold running be better with Magnatec? Or - are there any additives that would do the trick with any oil, you often see these things advertised on the TV but I’m a bit sceptical. Anyone tried any? Cheers.

I've had problems with my battery being loose and have to reinitialise the remote every now and then. The only sure way I've found of doing it is to set the alarm off by unlocking the drivers door with the key and opening it, then you must hold down either button for about 10 seconds. I find it works better if you hold the remote right next to the alarm unit, or in mine it works ok if you hold the remote on that centre speaker grill thing in the middle of the dashboard. Hope this helps.

Im sure its not illegal, I know a guy who has fitted it to a VW camper. You can buy the kits in this country for diy fitting, here's one I just found in google. http://www.conrad-anderson.co.uk/cruise/ZT50N.htm I'd like to have it in my C too, mainly for the speed cameras.

The aux pulley on the fan belt that runs the alternator etc is very noisy all of a sudden, on my new (150K Miles) VR6. is this an easy replacement? I've sprayed some oil on it and its quietened down a lot but I do want to change it, as I get a real whineing/wheezeing noise from it. Where's the best (cheapest :) ) place to buy one and any idea what the part number is? Its a 1995 VR6. Cheers Ad

lol, looks exactly like my new baby I've had for two weeks! Although mines not that shiney.

I calculated my new VR6 mpg using phil's method, I got 27mpg and that includes lots of heavy right foot, and many short trips. Im driving it a bit lighter now and the MFA is up to 30 mpg around town, which I think is superb. When I fill up I can only get about 55 litres when the gauge is on the red line, must be a massive reserve in there! But then I guess all guages could be different.

ummm rear quater panel idea very good, anyone know if there's enough space in a corrado? I dont really want to use the boot as I often have the parcel shelf out. Could have a lot more room up front if that lousey V6 wasn't taking up so much room :D

I want to add a 4 channel amp to my new baby, but is there anywhere to hide one? I use the boot a lot so dont really want it in there, I wondered if anyone has fitted one under the front seats or anywhere else, and if you can reccommend a good but not too expensive 4 channel amp thats small enough? Or a good way of hiding in the boot? Cheers Ad

Wow, how long till we can get aftermarket ones for our older VW's?? I really want some of these! :D

Yep, definately well broken in, :D he he, first post and you've already noticed ive got shat spelling, lol. For insurance I had a very favourable quote from egg (the credit card company), £712 fully comp, i'm 23 with 4 yrs no claims. Although the camper was £260 with nil no claims on a classic policy. ABS light behaved it's self today, I shall be preying to the V-dub god to see all is ok. Looking forward to getting mileage to an even 'loser' 200,000..........
-
150,400 I've done 100 of those since I picked it up yesterday...
-
I live in Margate, for my sins. :( My local V-Dub garage are having a play with it later today hopefully, I've been using the car all day today and havent seen the abs light since, so could have been a one off (yeah, right!).
-
I'm 23 and got my insurance on my new baby (vr6) for £712 from egg.com. When If you pay by egg credit card you get another £30 off too! I've got 4 yrs no claims and live in Margate. Kwik Fit quoted me £2400! lol
-
Woooohooooo! Just drove it home! Does seem to have a slight edge over my camper, lol. All seems ok so far, although the ABS light stayed on on one of my many short trips out tonight, wonder what thats gonna cost me....... Thanks for the miliage comments, feel a bit less worried now, well sorta. I allocated some of my budget for expected problems so hopefully it wont bankrupt me straight away.

Hi all I've been a long time lurker on the forums here, I've finally replaced my very tired old 1600 vw camper (54 bhp I believe!), with a VR6 Corrado, should be in my hands soon. So gives me an excuse to post at last... Bit of a risk though for a first timer as its got 150,000 on the clock, tell me I havent just made a big mistake? Engine sounds much quieter than others I've looked at so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed over the next few years. I'm sure to be bugging you all soon, so watch out for my typical newbie posts which will be coming your way shortly, Thanks for all the help you've all given me so far, even though you didnt know it.
