I just got some BK racing 299's they look a little like BBS's but about a third of the price :) 600 quid including 40 profile tyres in 17x7.5 fitting them tomorrow hope fully !!

Is it possible to buy totally red rear lenses or just the clear lexus style and smoked ones that venom do?? I think I saw some on the back of a C in Performance vw but think they may have been sprayed. I am told that if I decide to spray them I will get no end of hassle from the cops, which with 6 points already on my licence I could do without attracting their attention.. cheers. phil

Just had the car lowered 40mm today and will change the wheels in the next couple of weeks. Im not sure whether to fit 16 or 17 inch rims. At the moment the 15 inch cheap an nasty jobbies I got on it make the car handle really well but they look s****. Basically is there a big difference in handling between the two?. The choice of wheels is quite limited in 16 inch fitment and the tyres are also a bit more expensive so i am swaying toward the 17's thanks in advance for any replies phil 1.8 16v *****edit-swearing*****-vr6storm

I think rs4 wheels are great, i saw some on a mk4 golf. would they fit on a 1991 16v ?? or are they five stud like most of the nice wheels out there?? fry

Hi, I got one on my 16v problem is it made no noticeable difference, I have a 1.8, running a k and n panel filter and I drilled the airbox. I suddenly wish I had bought a g60 - :?

I agree with fat tony. I've got a k and n in my 16 v dosent sound any better and there was certainly none of the promised increase in power or throttle response. I have even drilled the air box to help with airflow. Thinking of getting one of those strove induction kits that sit under the fuel injection unit. fry

I bought a power rohr from eurotek, it is a round one and doesnt fit, it comes up too short to the throtle body. I'm guessing it is meant for a golf after reading this post. To that end does anyone know a golf owner who would like to buy one ??? ta..

Does anyone know what the part number for the interior light housing is on a 1991 16v. This may sound like a daft question but I previously had an interior light from a passat !!! the last owner clearly settled for a bodge. When I got a new interior light in the right colour it had a space for the sunroof button but the plastic thing the light sits it has a sunroof button in it already. so..... The guy at my local vw dealers who has managed to get nearly every part I order wrong said the correct part does not have a hole for this sunroof button as it is mounted in the interior light. So he orders me the "correct" part but when it arrives it has the hole for the sunroof button in addition to the hole where the light goes!! Does the part in question exist? so I help out these misguided chumps?? cheers. phil.

Just prchased a 50 mm inlet manifold thinking of polishing it to make it look nice!!! Anyone got any tips for D.I.Y ? (by that i mean tools etc) or is it less hassle to get it done by a pro..??? cheers

I have a fairly high mileage 1.8 16v and have been toying with the idea of having a g60 conversion later in the year. I know I could sell mine and buy a g60 but am reluctant to do so as most will have the same mileage and the history on my car is top there are receipts for every job big or small and the service history is fully stamped blah blah blah.. what sort of price would I be looking to pay for a standard g60 lump and running gear? does anyone (businesses) sell em with warranties etc... cheers. fry :roll:

Tried to start the car the other day only to find that it would conk straight out after it started. So... I called the AA (I have home start - own an air cooled too !!) He said it could be the distributor - so.. we took it off and it was pretty shagged lots of broken bits inside. Next day I went and bought a new dizzy. With the new dizzy fitted I thought the car would burst back to life and I could get on with my plans... No. The car will not idle from start, I got it warm by keeping it at 2000rpm for a while and it would chug away at 500rpm, but if i gave it some gas it would stall on over-run. I am well confused and a bit pissed off any ideas people - ??? cheers fry............

My lights are not as bright as I'd like. I was told to fit an uprated headlight loom to solve this prob. Does anyone on the forum know a supplier in the UK and how much they will cost.? cheers.... fry.

I had a custom exhaust built for my 16v, bloke told me it would be loads better than the standard one (of course), the next day I handed over loads of cash drove away. I must admit it did sound quite nice (about the only good thing about!!) He had not built it to a very good standard a couple of days driving I noticed it was rattling like mad and sitting well tight against the bottom of the car. Took it back he agreed to fix it, This involved him removing the bracket on the backbox and hanging off it to take it down from the body !! I was relived to hear there was no charge for this!! to rub salt in the wound some arsehole bumped the back of my car in a car park (hit and run) messed up the front silencer. It then sounded even worse. Long story short I went to another specialist and got them to supply and fit a standard exhaust still going strong.. Only lost a bit of power at the top end. But I'm still out of pocket by 700 quid.
