After market Exhausts and Lowered C's How to make it work!!
vr6storm replied to G60Jet's topic in Engine Bay
i think my milltek is doing the same too paul..........i was going to leave it til i was down at the rolling-road day and get star to have a look,as mine seems to have moved slightly form being centred at the cut-out in the bumper....but if you want to have a look for me let me know -
hi joe, i'm not 100% sure here mind but i'm pretty sure this was a twilight violet C pic..........i'll try and see if my mate who has a twi-violet vr6 has any j-pegs he can send me.... if this one your thinking about is ice grey violet rather than twilight violet then providing its a good example....snap it up,ice grey violet is a pretty rare colour though not as rare as what some people on the yahoo group think hth

and i'm i not getting to come for a blast either paul :?:

no problem jez, i've also just done a wee write up for the stirling un-official meet just passed........e-mailed it to john kerr last night for inclusion in the regional round-up.....so he should be e-mailing it to you soon
-
do you think it was just coincidence that they chose to start CC during the school holidays  :x  to make sure it looked like it had an amazing effect.......how can they possibly justify £5 per day when people protest about 10p per litre fuel rises, and as for that tw@t David Begg the govt. "expert"who is totally anti-car and pro public transport he goes on about the enviroment etc but they do nothing about pollution caused by airline co's.....i'm pretty sure a corrado would take years to produce the same amount of pollution that a jet airliner causes when taking off.......ah well rant over  :x oops forgot to mention.........nice looking C you have there joe......sorry to hear you won't make it to the rolling road day :(
-
no problem didn't know where to actually post it either :? last year was my first one that i'd been to and there were between 10 and 12 there, hopefully this year i might be able to persuade munkay and a few other newish C-owners up here in aberdeen to go down too, there was a wee unofficial meet at stirling castle between xmas and new year recently and that attracted approx 13 C's and was a good day out :D so hopefully we can get that sort of numbers too

hi all, just thought i'd mention that the VWCCGB(Scottish region)are having their annual rolling road day at Star-performance,Glenrothes on Sunday 16th March 2003 from 10am onwards this is open to all vwccgb members and non-members alike...though obviously members take priority if the demand is high for runs on the rolling road, anyway here is a link to the scottish region website....if you don't already know it http://www.kf010a4571.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ and here is the link for Star-performance too http://www.starperformance.co.uk/ i know this will mainly be of interest to the scottish contingent here but as there is a few NE england members now,its well worth them coming up for as normally the guys at Star-performance have a few bits'n'bobs for sale too and will be able to give you advice on any problems and future plans you might have with your C there is also talk of a burger-van being on-site too so hopefully the weather will hold up and it'll be a good day out 8) also there was limited spaces for getting your steering geometry checked and adjusted for the low price of £40+vat.........although this has still to be confirmed for this year,i'll keep you all posted about this anyway here's some pics from last years event

the best way to get rid of that effect is to use plenty elbow grease and a good cutting compound once the laquer has dried and try to polish it smooth....or if you do all the prep work and remove the bumpers etc and trailer it to the bodyshop then that should save a fair bit of time and money too......if your going to spend a fair bit on getting the interior half-leathered and the rest that you have planned you'd be as well getting the paintwork done to the highest standard....thats why you should get it done professionally.....just my £0.02p worth hth

of course you could always leave the chip and pulley for later

hi andy, i think he was saying that it went at 120k and had only been rebuilt once at 60k
-
you'll never get a good finish with just aerosol tins i'm afraid :( but £2k for a respray does seem a bit steep(unless its for a windows out bare metal one in which case its criminally cheap).....have you had any other quotes?
-

no it was an early mk2,it had the single wiper as standard too,if i remember rightly mk2 rocco's came out as early as x-plate....though to be honest even though mk1 panels like you say are hard to come by if it was a mk1 i would have tried to restore it.......like most other people i prefer the mk1 rocco to the mk2,though i prefer the mk2 golf gti to the mk1 golf gti

this might help you too..........i had my rear discs, wheel bearings and abs rings replaced last year...my mate done it all while i "assisted" anyway he suggested that i also bought 4 bolts(can't remember what they were for :? ...but have the part no's) anyway here are the part no's for abs rings and the "mystery" bolts abs rotor/ring.................1J0614149 approx £8.40 ea bolts x4..........................N0199123 approx £0.84 ea all plus vat and discount from a stealer hth -

if your changing the rear bearings you'd be as well to replace the rear discs and rear abs rings too(unless they've been done in say the past couple of years).....approx £40 for discs +£16 abs rings(you could spend ages trying to get the rusted ones out btw so for the sake of £8 ea just get new ones),you'll need to wind the pistons back(as opposed to lever/pushing them back) if your doing your rear pads you'll also need to dismantle a fair bit of interior trim to adjust your handbrake after doing them, idealy its better if you have an extra set of hands too.........just having the bentley manual doesn't mean that you'll cope without a problem either.....though if your doing it for the first time i would at least get a mechanically minded m8 to help too or just bite the bullet and pay a garage to do it......cos if you feck it up  you'll have an added cost of getting it to a garage hth -
does owning a 83 y-plate 1.5gl and a 85 1.8gtx for approx 2 weeks count..........got them cheap to break for parts.......only drove them from where i bought them to my wife's uncles farm where i was breaking them

i had some proper b!tch at my work open her door onto my rear quarter and put a lovely door knock onto the panel, then when i confronted her about it she told me to prove it was her......lets see panel intact before she parked next to me,panel damaged after parking next to me....corresponds with where her door opens...but would she admit it was her...would she feck.....and to add insult to injury...she's only a special cuntstable next time the citroen parked next to you...put some superglue/loctite in the locks then watch them have fun opening the doors/boot........if your so inclined of course
