vr6storm replied to Banana Man's topic in General Car Chat
good day out had by all then!!!!....................maybe next year might just go to the agm instead of inters(can't really afford the 2 of them so might do it turn-about)...especially if inters is likely to be held at bentwaters next year.......so how many C's were in attendance?and did jez have his campaign gleaming or did he win an award for the dirtiest C? LOL btw jim......J404 HMB 8) is mark gough's one(low-miles too).....................i believe he's a bank manager....handy for if you want to get a loan to buy it...eh .....go on you know it makes sense  -
congrats m8 :thumb right: if you do the website half as good as you do this forum 8) then it'll be a runaway success
-
right according to my service book 40k service is basically an oil-change,inspection all round the car...fluid levels checked etc and spark plugs renewed(don't let vw charge you £20ea  for the plugs btw).....might be an idea unless its been done recently to get the fuel filter changed(approx £20 all in.........well thats my vw-stealer price for doing the fuel-filter).....also every 24months its wise to get the coolant drained and refilled and also the brake fluid changed also word to the wise...........say you'll supply the oil......i didn't the first time i had mine vw-stealer serviced and they put in esso ultron fully synthetic at approx £7+ per litre
-
not really a fan of modded Corrado bodies..............but thats some nice looking corrado you have there...well-executed btw where did you get those door window things???.....one of the things i hate a bout the C's design is how if you open the window a bit in rain.......you always get it dripping in.....i take it those eliminate that problem
-
yeah me too.............why paint your Corrado "tango" orange
-
well said!.......................seriously though i never eat/drink in my storm.......but then again with beige carpets and seats  do you blame me
-
:( sorry to hear your news m8!!....................but are you completely sure that nothing has been taken?.............i don't know about the saxo but most pugs have the spare wheel in a cradle under the boot floor(used to be easily stolen)and maybe they would've had to get in your car to get the spare wheel cradle lowered....worth checking...also did you have anything with your address on it?again they could either come back later and steal more from it or steal the car itself..or more serious ..they could clone your ID  .....bit of a c*nt the fact that you sold the Corrado to get something cheaper to run and less of a theft target and then these scum/toerags go and fcuk it up within weeks of ownership :x ,sorry if i'm making you paranoid but you can never be sure these days
-
yeah kev m8 they don't have the same set-up that bmw's have cos the 2nd set of figures on the mfa....the totals reset after they reach a set value or if the battery is disconnected
-
:( not for me amy  ..................but isn't it the "project Max-power" Corrado? from a few years back??
-
thats what PAU1 up here in aberdeen does too  .......though they really should know better  as he has one of those RSR???front-bumpers.....hiding a audi intercooler
-
yeah mate the GPC grille is o/e....only £23+vat+p&p or £23 straight at inters  ........don't know why there are 2 types of the later "vr6"grille though :?
-
if i were you i would save my money and leave those o/e bbs wheels on as your subtle mods actually make it stand out better........as it looks like it has just come straight from the factory.....so the ultimate "stealth"C
-
one other thing that might help you get some more cooling is to check to see if you have the original grille.....as the ones from GPC have all the slats open whereas the original one only has the bottom row open..........but i reckon just your oil cooler alone would make quite a noticable difference......why don't you do the coolant a short while before or after you've had the oil-cooler done,at least then you'll be able to see if it does make a difference
-
very nice m8.....................as i've said to A20LEE before a Tornado red early un-modded Corrado really "floats my boat"and the black leather is the "icing on the cake"......are you keeping it standard or have you any mods planned?
-
yeah like everyone else says.............GTI-INTERNATIONAL is the one to go to,apart from the fact there is hundreds of cool dubs there, you can also make savings on bits'n'pieces that your C will need, another closer alternative to you is the Scottish vw-owners festival....see the VWCCGB(Scottish Region) website for more details, also there is meant to be an indoor show in october near glasgow......closer and i assume cheaper/easier for you to get to......as if they put inters to the same place next year its quite a trip for you as well as me
-
anyway here are some before shots of the leather and hopefully pau1 will have the after shots inc door-cards
-
might be the s/roof guides...........

I partially learnt to drive in my dad's '84 XR4i.... ...and then nearly totalled it after I'd passed my test and borrowed it to impress the girlfriend... went a little bit sideways round a bend! Bloody sh1te handling, only any good in a straight line! Chris. tell me about it!......first nite i had mine went over the round-a-bout that i usually went over and booted up the hill in my xr3i....but it had been raining all day.....did the same in the xr4i and kinda went sideways  luckily it wasn't busy and i didn't cause any damage -

  i had my xr3i back then  though to be honest it was cheap as chips hot-hatch ownership....did 27k miles in the 14 months i owned it but had my porsche 944turbo 8) at 25 and my ur-quattro at 26 8) -
hi all, well my storm is in getting its front seats re-coloured....they were getting pretty scuffed and were looking really downmarket....anyway my local car accsesory shop.....checkpoint,aberdeen have a leather re-colouring service which is basically "spray"-painting the seats with a rubber-based paint(so no cracking),anyway get the car back on thursday...it went in on tuesday nite btw......went by tonight to see how they were looking and was just totally gob-smacked...what an improvement...almost like new...just the very very minor light sagging of the side upper bolster gives the game away as not been "brand-new",anyway the cost of doing the 2 front seats, both door-cards and the gear-lever gaitor........£170 not cheap but when you consider that to get one seat re-trimmed from mj-interiors would be approx £400.....alright that would be for new leather etc but this is a pretty cost effective and of course cheaper alternative btw will post before and after pics as soon as i get a loan of my mates digi-cam
