:multi: It will be back on the road before you know it and better than ever!

Thanks for the info guys. I've just had a word with a mechanic and he said exactly the same thing. Isn't really worth doing it. I've booked my car in for a service at a local garage for this friday. It sounds like i'll be paying around £200 ish for a full service + cambelt change. If it all goes well i'll post up the garage's details as a reccomendation. I've heard really good things about the place and it's a family run business.
-
Is that a head off job or can it be done with the cambelt cover off? Thanks for all the info guys.
-
Thats weird. It says that part 13160 is for the 16v and 13161 is for the VR6. Oh well. If i wont need it i'll put it up for sale on here.

Whats needed for a cam belt change? Coz i've ordered some parts from GSF. I bought the timing belt, belt tension stud and timing chain. That all came to about £20. Anything else needed?
-
Hi im gonna get my car serviced next week and was wondering if the timing belt is the same thing as the cam belt? GSF didn't seem to have a cam belt for the 1.8 16v but did have a timing belt. I think its the same thing but just wanted to check. Also how much would you expect to pay for a full service including cam belt at a garage?

I'd go for the S2000. I've been in one and the performance and handling are sick. Also the sound at about 8000 - 9000 rpm is amazing. Pair that with brilliant reliability (which the TVR hasn't got) and it has to be a great buy.
-
Good luck with it mate. I feel for ya. I remember what it was like when I had a renault 5 and had to pay out for it all the time.
-
He said labour and parts. So if parts do cost around £300 another £360 sounds reasonable for all the labour. £300 for the parts does sound loads though. I remember when my gasket went on my renault 5 in cost me about £240 in total to sort out.

Thats just eased my worries a little bit too which ive posted in another thread recently. I was getting 90-100 water after a long drive around town and my oil got up to 114 - 118C. I wasnt waorried about the water but i was worried about the oil a little bit.
-
OK thanks. Sounds like its running a little bit warm then. I will give it a full service on pay day and see if anything changes. If anyone has any other ideas on things to check for let me know. Cheers.

I've searched the forum and found people stating different temps but I was wondering roughly what they should be. I have an unmodified 1.8 16v. After a long drive around town i've noticed my water temp go to between 90 - 100C and oil temp of between 114 - 118C. Is the oil temp a little high or is it about right?

I am the only one who thinks the Corrado looks stupid.......

I love the spoiler. Just got my rado so I actualy try and hit 40mph all the time and watch it come up in the mirror! lol. I'm gonna crash one of these days. -
Thanks. Nah I think its gonna stay standard. It seems a shame to change things because its really good condition and completely standard. It even has the original pull out blaupunkt stereo. The only thing i might possibly do is get some ronal turbo's for it and lower it slightly.

Saw a Black Corrado today in Enfield Town with the number plate starting with M270. It had clear back lights. Anyone from the forum? -
Just picked up my 1.8 16v yesterday. Had a little photoshoot today with my mates.
-
Cheers. Looking forward to meeting peeps at a show or something. Anything planned in the near future in the south east?
-
I finally got a corrado after about a year of dreaming + looking for the right one. It's immaculate and original. Gonna keep it that way i reckon until I decide to move up to a VR6. The only thing I wanna do to it eventualy is get some ronal turbos. Anyway I pick it up on Saturday and can't wait. Here's a pic of it but will take plenty more this weekend.
-
My friend has had both. He said the 1.8 16v is quicker off the line but the 2.0 16v is better from about 40mph and is generaly a nicer drive.
-
What am I gonna do all week until I pick it up? I want it now. :( To be honest with you I dont mind it not havin leccy windows. 1 less thing to go wrong.
-
Mine is on a H plate. I bought it today and will be picking it up next sat. Can't wait! My first Rado!
-
I was wondering how rare is it for a 1.8 16v not to have electric windows or sunroof?
-
Sounds like a shagged drive shaft to me. check to see if the gaiter has split and all the grease has run out. I had a very similar thing in my renault 5 gtt, i could feel the knocking through the pedals and hear it when i accelerated only.
-
lol, thanks for all the help guys. I've just put my car on sale in autotrader so i've got my fingers crossed and hopefuly see u lot at a corrado meet in the near future.
