A v.unhappy G60 idle! driving me crazy! Please help!
juloesG60 replied to juloesG60's topic in Engine Bay
ye i think iv tried that, is that the same as the idle switch, if u open the throttle and click it, it causes the engine to mimic what the problem is, is that what u mean? -
as iv described in my other post, http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28700 im having issues with the running of my G60 and have read today of possibly that a leaking inlet manifold gasket can cause a hunting idle, but would it cause it to hunt even when driving? thanks

Just celebrated a year with my C, and as an anniversery present its decided to play up, nice! Basically i first realised the problem driving about 75mph along the M4 when the revs had a little hic-up and i just thought perhaps bit of bad fuel, then started doing it a bit more often and have spells. Until now where it happens pretty much all of the time, reving at idle between stalling and 1500rpm, and when driving aroung 1000rpm in movement making it a complete pig to drive, obviously! First thing i have read and thought was ISV so after being defeated at taking it off sent it to the garage to be cleaned along with the knock sensor being replaced. But no luck, so then moved on and replaced the front blue temperature sensor with again no change. So now getting a little frustrated and narrowing it down to perhaps the idle switch which when pressed with the throttle open mimics the problem, but not sure how feesable? or perhaps lambda sensor? What seems to cure the problem, or at least stop it is disconnecting and reconnecting, the plug from on the left hand side of the ISV, which i think goes from ISV to ECU?! ne ideas would be great thanks, sorry a bit long p.s dosent seeem to be tempreture related

My ISV seems to be playing up a bit with revs havin a random movement at times :( , nd whilst i have been researchin bout the isv iv discovered about the ISV reroute upgrade and boost return kit. Iv seen both the boost return kit from g-werks (http://www.g-werks.co.uk/products.php) and the ISV reroute from bahnbrenner (http://bahnbrenner.com/media/php/catalo ... &catid=110) and wandering whether it is possible to fit both of them at the same time? any body tired this? and are the results as successfull as some articles iv read? or any better versions of these people have seen? cheers

My cousin keeps telling me you can get one, has ne body ever seen one or heard of one? surely cant have a dump valve? thanks

Lowering springs 40 or 60? what people find best?
juloesG60 replied to juloesG60's topic in Drivetrain
Maybe but on a tight budget, the standard Bilstein dampers are pretty good iv been told, no? -
Basically my two front top mounts are in need of changing, my suspension is standard at the moment and despirately needs lowering, so im thinkin surely makes sense to sort that out if need to take suspension apart ne way. unless i can pick up some seriously bargain coilovers it looks like its going to be springs, what is the recomended drop 40 or 60? If i buy just springs do i need new bump stops and ne thing else? How easy is this to do ur self? Ne pics of cars lowered 60 and 40 would be wicked thanks,

Labour time/charge for cambelt & tensioner change?
juloesG60 replied to juloesG60's topic in Engine Bay
I got a grarage i use, its Karcare near Metro and Safeway in Reading, there is a guy there Matt who worked at VW for 7 years, nd seems to know what hes doin so give em a go -
looking to change cambelt and the tensioner to be safe, what kind of larbour charge would i be looking at for a garage to change them on a G60? cheers
-
wheres TRL near?
-
Just wandering if ne ones been to or heard good things about a rolling road near Reading, want to check my rado's stats cause not sure if its producing what it should, also can the G60 ECU be programed whilst on a rolling road? or do u need to buy a new programable ECU? cheers
-
Just wandering whether im about to be possibly hit with the clutch goin, went on my old Mk1, now unsure seems the bitting point is pretty solid and low but then from moving off recently been a bit weird, what kinda milage do the clutches usually go? cheers
-
How many gallons is the later fuel tank then? does anyone have a flush boot carpet?
-
Just wandering as seems quite impressive as hardly any cars have an alloy as a spare, maybe another wander of the rado!?
-
Got my replacement one from VW not obsolote, though not cheap as usual! think about 15 quid for the lil plastic thing! They do just clip in but where they are u seem to have to take out the plastic grill in the lower bumper to get them in! Damn that towing eye fairy!!
-
It seems like a hell of alot of Corrados are missing a towing eye cover at the front! why?! its weird the design dosnt seem to be that bad that they would just fall off, infact i have just bought one and gone to try and fit it and looks like quite a bitch to fit. has anyone fitted one? ne tips? cheers

I have read in this months issue of Golf+ in the 'ask the brain section' that decatting a G60 can cause the lambda sensor to run cold and give pulsating power delivery. I decatted mine with a Miltek catbyepas about 3 months ago, and have recently realised if i floor it, just before 3k and the charger hitting in, powercan be a little pulsating, only very slightly, is this possibly the lambda? if so are there any solutions bar putting a cat back? cheers

Exactly same propblem on mine!

Corrected timing, now lost 65% power and runs rough ideas?
juloesG60 replied to juloesG60's topic in Engine Bay
Well after a week at the garage picked the car up today, to find he found nothing broken only various things in need of adjustment, at a cost of £70 instead of a possible grand for crackshaft, im feeling better, but very weird how it lost so much power and matched what seems to be a cam belt shift! well least its back on the road!..though i think when i get the crank bolt changed it may reveal somethin else! -
What bolts/parts are renowned to fail in G60 Engine?
juloesG60 replied to juloesG60's topic in Engine Bay
Well that is what the garage originally said, have just talked to them and now rekon it hasnt sliped...though do still have a massive power loss! -

Just talked to the garage and they are saying that they cant seem to find the problem! From what i understood he said that the cambelt hadnt slipped and they cant find a problem that could cause this much power loss! Baffling them! great just what i need a shit load of labour charges! crazy -
