Forgot about that. I know there is probably a thread about this somewhere-but why didnt haynes make a manual for the C anyway?

On Wheeler Dealers(discovery RT)tonight is the VW camper type 25.I love this program, and the new series is excellent.Last week mechanic Ed and ex-dealer Mike transformed an old porsche 928(my favourite porker). The 928 ended up going for 6k i think. They weren't too impressed with the BBS alloys though, and gave them some stick.I don't know if this was to do with the condition they were in,but they seemed fine to me. Why they haven't tackled a Corrado on the show is a mystery to me,i think it would be ideal.I would love Ed to go to town on my C,that geezer is some mechanic. Enjoy!

Is my VR6 about to be smoked?
TheWizardofOdds replied to TheWizardofOdds's topic in General Car Chat
Yeh,you would think that the better traction(at least i would)would give him an advantage. As you say Jim perhaps it starved him of power.I would be pretty p****d at losing like that to an 'old' car too.I think he thought he would walk it. :nono: -

Rowdy dominates. :2gunfire: Well team,i cant believe it-won by about 5 car lengths!.And i was braking well before the line.Followed instructions and took the launch reasonably easy.Slipped into 2nd,and from there gave whats known in the business as 'welly'. Its been teeming with rain the whole day,but had no grip problems at all.We both were paired down,no spare wheel, low gas etc.My mate took an early lead, but only just.I knew i had him from 2nd-3rd though. To say he was p****d off would be an understatement.I suggested another run but when you've just been put to the sword like that(i was actually a bit embarrased)no wonder he never took me up. I'm absolutely delighted as i thought it would be a lot closer, and on another day maybe that would be the case. Thanks to all for the tips, went for a spin yesterday just to try out a few of the suggestions and im pretty sure they swung it for me,because i would certainly have thrashed it from the start otherwise. Long live the Corrado. -

Jesus.I never thought of all that stuff. I can't believe i'm actually getting nervous.Haven't really blasted the C that much, only had it a short while.Consider all these tips done.I like the naked thingy, thats good.Might be the ideal time to give the heated seats a workout too. All will be revealed, ahem, tomorrow.Just going out to give Rowdy(my C)a pep talk before the big day.He better be on his game. -
Is my VR6 about to be smoked?

Now we're talking. It just so happens that i will have access to the cabin, and allied to my pitiful lack of morals and conscience i will lend my stubby digits to the pressing of said button. :notworthy: -
Is my VR6 about to be smoked?

Yip,good info guys.I cant remember what the torque for the VR6 is off the top of my head though.180? Like i said this isn't normally my thing,so is it best to give it heavy throttle in 1st,or should you press the accelarator smoothly for less wheel spin? It may also be slightly uphill, but top speed should be arrived at by then. -
Ok,here's the deal:My mate has recently bought a Golf GTI anniversary, and fancies his chances in a race against my C.Now this isn't normally the kind of thing i do,but it would be rude to turn down the challenge. It's a reasonably short race(maybe 1-1.5 miles)on private ground of course. My C is a standard VR6 storm, his Golf is a 2003 2.0,possibly turbo?..im not sure if it's the FSi or whatever, and is petrol 6 speed. So,what do you think fellow enthusiasts?.I'm reasonably confident, but i wonder if a ten year old car can outpace a quick nearly new one.

Workmates and the things they shouldnt say..
TheWizardofOdds replied to TheWizardofOdds's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks for the comments guys.I probably just had one of those days. One more thing about the work scenario, has anyone else noticed the upsurge in new cars bought by fellow workmates soon after they bought their Corrados? -
I've recently bought a VR and a new flat,so it's fair to say that i'm a little short of cash at the moment.Speaking to one of my work colleagues last night,he asked if i was up for a drinking session at the weekend.I told him i couldn't make it-no money etc.(but never once mentioned the rado). This is his reply:"You should never have bought that car anyway, you're just trying to re-live your youth" As i'm sure you all remember, buying your first C is an amazing feeling.I seriously couldn't think of a car i'd rather have, even if money was no object. It just fits the bill. ..And then some geezer from work just bursts that little bubble i've been been living in for the last few weeks. :x

Okay,i didnt realise that this was such a common problem.Have been trawling lots of earlier posts and have noted the suggestions within. The ABS seems to be another common problem(well,at least the warning lamp)the 'joys' of owning an older car i suppose.I just hope that i can find the solution to this problem early and without great expense as i would ideally like to spend my hard earned cash on bodywork and such-like.Oh well.. :?

Hi, I've now owned my new(to me)VR6 for a few weeks(what a car!)but have had a little trouble the last few days starting the car.The Vr runs great but when i turn the ignition the engine starts, catches for a second and then dies. The only way around this has been to apply heavy revs then it catches and drives off no problem. This morning it started no problem.Could anyone give me an indication as to the possible cause of this and what i can do to fix it..Thanks.Oh...i nearly forgot, the ABS light has been on since i bought the car,but everything seems fine except for the actual ABS switch being loose!!.Anyone?

Buying a corrado (Need help - Slough area on Thursday)
TheWizardofOdds replied to TheWizardofOdds's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks Jim,much appreciated. -
Hi, I'm travelling down to the Slough area from Glasgow on thursday to look at a VR6 for sale.my knowledge of cars is pretty poor,is there anyone from the forum who lives nearby who could check the car over with me?i would appreciate this immensely.I should be in the area from mid-day to early afternoon.I'll be back on the forum later today to finalise any details. Thanks, David. p.s i hope this has been posted in the correct section!
-
I knew i'd post in the wrong section!.. thanks for the replies guys. I dont actually know what an eye-brow spoiler is though.I just checked the trader and there's an aqua blue vr6 5795 i think..what do you think people?..cant judge a book by its cover, but it looks fine! Good suggestion on the rover,i'll get to it immediately.

Hi people, First of all i'd like to introduce myself to you (being new to the forum) my name's David and i've been checking this site out for quite a few months now, looking at all the beautiful rados you guys own. I saw a corrado one day whilst driving to work and immediately parked next to it for a closer look. Anyway, the upshot is that i think the owner must think they have a stalker  because i drive the same way to work every day and have stopped to have a look quite a few times! As you can probably guess i am now in the market for one of these beauties (why Vw dont make these cars anymore is criminal) and have a few questions i hope somebody could take the time to answer. So starting at the very top: just what is the difference between a storm and say, a late vr6 with leather interior, heated seats etc ? (which i have seen for sale and stated as similar to the storm). The car that i eventually buy will be in daily use, are there any models which are particularly reliable? (i will be spending roughly 6-7K, so want to get this right). I like the look of the satin silver vr6's but they seem to be quite rare. What is an eye-brow spoiler?...i know, my knowledge of cars (apart from driving them) is rudimentary. What are the main faults/defects of vr6's to look out for when inspecting the car? Ideally i would like the car to be as close to stock as possible. Oh, i nearly forgot - Does anyone want to buy my girlfriends rover 200 for 7K?...heheheheh
