1. I know that the whole oil pressure sender issue has been addressed before but the problem that has hit my 1990 16v seems different It has started happening intermittently over the last few weeks under normal driving conditions, no high revving or abrupt dropping of gears, I hear the odd beep and a flash of the oil light and then nothing for a couple of days. It had be slightly concernd but not too much as I had had sender issues before and though to myself, must be the sender acting up on me again!! That is until yesterday morning. Was coming home from a weekend away, started the car, a little sluggish (but I think the battery could be due a change) reversed out of the car park and set off on my way home, as soon as I went over 2000rpm the light came on and I heard the buzzer, I took my foot off the accelerator and the light and buzzer went off once it went below 2000rpm. this continued until the car had warmed up (Water temp showing 85 degrees, oil temp showing 90 degrees) Once it was warmed up it ran fine. The same thing happened 3 times during the day starting a journey after the car had been left to cool for a couple of hours Has anyone else experienced this? Could it just be that the sender is knackered again or am I looking at something different??
2. Dec you have always been a bandit  Good luck with the trip but be wary of :lcop:

5. Do you have any pics of the fitted Gauges?
6. Its a handy fix, just make sure to use a needle nosed pliers as a heat sink when soldering in the fuse, otherwise it will probably blow
7. here is the guide actually, it's spot on! http://website.lineone.net/~quigger/heater.htm
8. Just change the thermal fuse in the resistor pack itself, there is a guide on here somewhere on how to do it. Fuses can be got from Maplins (Just fixed my resitor pack on Monday!)

Fitting Gauges

Hi all, I have bought a set of Audi 80 VDO Gauges (oil temp, pressure & battery) like the ones shown below for my 1990 C Long story short, only have the car a few weeks and the intermittent oil pressure light and buzzer has scared the sh*t out of me a couple of times. I am changing the 2bar sender tonight but mainly cos there was oil flowing from the spade connector the other night  Basically I have seen in a few threads on the forum that people have fitted thes Gauges and was hoping that somebody would be able to give me a how-to for this slight mod and also tell me what else I will need, i.e. do I need a 2 pole sender or do I need two of the original senders fitted to the oil cooler via a t-piece , I am not a mechanic or an electrician, but I do know my way around a pair of snips and a set of screwdrivers Any help would be great, cheers

Steering racks

Hi all, the rack seals in my 1990 16v have seen better days, it needs reconditioning, but I want to replace it so that I can keep the car as my daily driver, does anyone know if the rack was common to other cars, i.e. would a 1.4 Vento/Mk3 Golf have the same rack?
