  2. Seat base covers finished and ready to fit...
  3. Finally finished the Porsche seats and are good to go...
  4. OK, so I'm guessing no one has had this problem or maybe because it's hard to notice, you may be unaware. Problem Afeter a few weeks of testing, I've found out that the passat sunroof, no matter how you fit it, will let in excessive amounts of water. During the bad weather we had this winter, I noticed that the car was steaming up quite a lot and having replaced a leaky C sunroof years ago, I didn't thnk it could have been the passat moonroof. It turns out that as the passat roof fits great along the straight edges of the sunroof recess, the gaps around the corners are much more visible than the original sunroof. I always asumed that any extra water that may get in would just drain into the catchment tray and down the scuttle channels. As it happens, because the working of the moonroof differ from the C, the extra water which comes in cannot escape qucik enough and when driving (accelerating and breaking), the water seems to escape over the top of the tray. I suspect this has been happening for years but because it's only a small amount, it just seems to get soaked up by the headliner. Never the less, it's making this damp and causing the car to steam up. After driving the car with the headliner out, sure enough, I hit the brakes and a few drips come down. Here comes the DIY fix 8) Replacing the seal around the moonroof may help but will not cure the problem. In the end after testing out lots of things, I used a black silocone gasket adhesive. I just smoothed it around the insides of the corners of the sunroof recess. This stuff drys unbelievebly tough and is very flexible, alowing the moonroof to slide up aginst it and therefore sealing the gap. When fully dried, I trimmed this to neaten it up. So far (touch wood) it's kept the roof really dry and the car no longer steams up when it's raining. So for all you guys who have a moonroof conversion and your C always seems to steam up....this could be your answer.
  5. Welcome to the forum! Beautifil colour....
  6. That is one freakin gorgeous interior...gets my vote! 8)
  7. Well, finally finished the two Porker seat backs. On with the bases this next week 8)
  8. Cheers guys...more to come soon. Working on a set of 924 seats at the moment. Pics on their way in the next couple of weeks hopefully!
  9. Frony door cards are now almost finished. Passenger door done and almost finished the drivers side. Fixing the leather to the card is such a ball ache...but got there in the end...
  10. I had exactly the same thing a couple of weeks back. Might be a good idea to change all your bulbs with leds whilst your at it. I changed them all to red and it looks sweet. Just be careful with those tiny springs...once you've lost one, you'll never find it again...as I found out twice!
  11. A little update to the retrim progress. Had a freakin nightmare with the black leather I was using. Just not soft enough which made it real difficult to stretch onto the door cards. Luckily the place where I got the leather did a straight swap for some better stuff so here we go again... Managed to get two seat bases for the black finished, plus the two rear cards. Centre bolster and console is now finished frm front to back. Just the rear backs and front porker seats to go. Also managed to install the ddi dials last weekend too. 8) Rear seat bases Not too happy with some of the white top stitch on the sides but it's ok for a first attempt...
  12. Thanks for the imput chaps! I'm sure fitting a new dash will look great with the funds to back it  I've got to say , I've had the wheel on and I personally think it looks well, especially now the retrim is coming along nicely. The wheel itslef is actually only 10mm larger in diameter and smaller than the original if you measure from top to bottom. I don't know if it's any smaller because it's from a Rocco. Looks as though a mk5 or 6 slip ring will work if I can connect that up as a replacement for the old slip ring. Mate of mine reckons it can be done so we will see how that pans out. If there is anyone out there who has done this, any advice would be much appreciated!
  13. Hi Guys, I have in my posetion, a MK6 multifunction steering wheel and was wondering whether anyone has fitted one (or something similar) to their C before? I've had the OEM wheel off and the Golf one fits but I'm not sure how I'm going to get the horn to work as the corrado slip ring is obviously different to the new Golf wheel. Does anyone know if the MK6 slip ring is interchangable with the C's? I've considered modding the wheel itself but I really don't want to ruin an expensive piece of kit. :? I'm not too fussed about having the multifunction buttons working as from what I've read, it's very difficult if not impossible. Any advice would be great as the re-trim is moving along quite quickly now and I really need this mod to work
  14. Hi Sean, Sorry to see you're getting shut of the rado. That dash conversion sure is the bollox! When you fitted the MK6 Wheel, what kind of slip ring did you use? Was it a custom job or did you use a MK6 slip ring as a direct replacement? I'm only asking as I've had one of these wheels in the garage for a while and never got round to fitting it. It's only because my OEM wheel has rotted into a mush of black goo! :D
  15. Hahaha...I knew someone would pick up on the fogs! Yeah, they were in the car when I bought it. Looks like it needs a trip to the dentist!!! I've replaced these now with some brand spankers. Set me back a nice 3 tons for the fogs and indicators. According to the guy at the stealers these were the 3rd to last set left on the database :| Arches were done at Stylehaus by Steve Denton. Top bloke and very very good at his job as quite a few guys on here will agree. Mine was a bit of an experiment at the time but it worked out like a dream. The arches are 1.75" wider than standard but you just can't tell they've been modified. Oh, and he skinned the underside too so they are smooth as! 8) IIRC it was about £600 for the lot but that was about 3 years ago.
  16. Cheers Ollie! It's all down to trial and error really. I've wasted quite a lot of leather but I knew that before I started this. I think it helps if you have a nice soft leather too. I'm on with the back seats as we speak but the black leather I bought isn't quite as soft so it's proving more dificult. I'll post some more pics soon as I have time. Headlining is pretty easy mate. It's tough getting it to sit well into the visor recesses but it will go in without having to sew anything.
  17. Hi guys, I fitted a passat estate moonroof last year and all seems to have been ok until we had a lot of rain recently. Now it just seems to be flooding in at every opportunity! All the scuttle drains are definitely clear so the only thing I can see it could be is a problem with the water catchment tray. For some reason, there seems to be a very tiny gap between the edge of the tray and the roof of the car. It's my guess that water is entering the tray (as the passat roof seal doesn't fit snugly) and tipping over the edge of the tray. Not great when you've just retrimmered the headliner in leather too! :(
  18. I couldn't tell you mate. This was in the car when I bought it. It's funny you should say that because I went to the breakers for an extra set of switches (just incase I made a mess of mine) and the VR they had in the yard had a set with a large tilt/slide switch on it...I assume this is the one you mean? I didn't bother with it as I thought it was off a passat or something. :confused4: I'll see if I can find out what it's off...
  19. He bought them like it they were off a blue vento show car. There powder coated with this chrome paint iv never sin it b4 works really well + easy to maintain 8) I had a feeling they wer'nt originally like that. I had mine on for 4 months and the lacquer completely disintigrated and made a real mess of the dish. I ended up sanding mine back and polishing them. If only I'd have know about that chrome powder coating, would have saved me about 30 hours of my time :brickwall: They look really well like that. I'll just add it to the never ending list!
  20. Cheers Gaz! I've always liked the Kerschers because they kinda remind me of speedlines but with a deep dish. Yeah, I've got all the headliner in now. I'm going for the full black interior look so didn't want to retrim the headliner and end up with grey switches. As far as I know, the sunroof switches were only made in grey. They seem to have come out quite well. Also had to dye the sunroof cover and the surround as I couldn't retrim this without breaking off the rivets on the sunroof sliders. I'll get some pics of the lot installed at some point. As for the rest of the retrim. It's a bit of a learning curve but I'm getting there slowly but surely. Almost finished the centre console. Bit of a ball-ache but just the back section to go. A few WIP pics....
  21. Cheers dude! They certainly are a nice alternitive to the Borbets. Was gonna go down the Borbet route originally but once I saw these...well, some things you just gota have  Thats one tidy rado too! Do you know if your mate had his rims polished or chromed? Or did he buy them like that? They look the bollox!!! 8)
  22. That is one mint motor there mate! One of my favourite colours. Look after her! :)

    Tyre Stretch

Lots of garages will do it no problem. You need to find a garage that uses a bead blaster to fit them. If they have one, chances are they wont have a problem with fitting them.
  24. Welcome to the forum mate! Get those pics up. Took me about 4 years to get round to it, but I'm working on it now! :D
  25. Well, here we go with the DIY retrim...Don't know if I've bitten off more than I can chew but we'll soon find out I guess. Managed to hire an industrial sewing machine and got the leather so away we go. Decided on black leather with a splash of red. The centre console is going to be red all the way through. Here are the first few bits I've managed to trim up. I thought I'd start with the headliner. Wasn't too difficult to trim but getting it back into the car was an absolute mare! Here are a few piccies before it went back in. I wanted the whole roof to be black so had to paint all of the switches too. On with the centre console as we speak so hopefully I'll have some more pics to post soon :)
