  2. I've heard good things about Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas.. Only thing is, I can only find them in 225 45 18 and not 225 40 18....any of you guys had much experience with this make of tyre ? If only I had the cash for Michelin pilots .. Thanks for the suggestions on the kumho's at 61 quid a piece, very fair price for new tyres.
  3. Totally agree David and I intend to change the tyres asap.... Just making sure I fully understand the law on tyre wear, legal/illegal ...
  4. Thanks Mac , I'll get them changed the weekend And yes, the car is lowered, the inner and outer section of the tyre has definitely worn evenly.... From the info I've gathered so far , tyres are legal but need changing soon. Just wanted to make sure I am okay to drive the car to the tyre fitters.. Knowing my luck, I'll get stopped. Anyone know where i can get 225 40 18's at a reasonable price ?? the runways on my car at the mo are crap so looking for a decent make, happy to pay the extra few quid...
  5. The inner edge has worn the same.... the centre section of the tire is clearly above the limit all round.
  6. Im aware of the limit being 1.6mm but not sure if the outer section of the tyre would earn me 3 points on my licence.
  7. I have never fully understood the law when it comes to tyre wear hence why i have always changed my tyres as soon as i've noticed them to be anywhere near the limit. The present tyres on my car have an unusual pattern that i've not really come across before... I've recently purchased the car so would be grateful if someone could advise, as to whether or not, my tyres are legal... Please see following pictures Drivers side front tyre outer grip looks to be completely worn however the majority of the inner tyre is still above the limits Front passenger side: Tyres on the rear are near new: It's only the outer section of the front tyres that are cause for concern, any help/advice would be appreciated
  8. A MK5 is an excellent overall package, especially with the DSG box..this one recently sold for £10K or less.. The R32 I was considering is no longer available so still without a car at the mo . I've been told that the fuel consumption on an R32 is ridiculous, which has put me off a little but how much worse can it be than the Corrado ??? I suppose powering all four wheels may make it less fuel efficient. Seat Leon with 300 BHP..Interesting power hike but firstly I already have a Seat and secondly, howmuch of that power is actually useable on the road?? E39 M5.. I like my smaller cars, way too big and when things do go wrong, which they do, fixes are expensive and M5 specific parts are hard to find on the second hand market...Kevhaywires (I recall the name being Cheesewire ?? ) E46 suggestion is better suited to me...
  9. Just a quick update, I'm edging towards buying myself a MK4 R32 as they seem to have come down in price quite a bit... the car seems a good overall package and i think, if i'm lucky could get a decent one for 7.5K.. anything in particular I should look for ? any optional extras I should be aware of?
  10. I totally agree, the E36 is a great car. I actually preferred the raw feel of the E36 3.0 M3 than the more refined 3.2 evo. Anything that wears the "M" badge must be given serious consideration. I ran a few insurance quotes for an E46 M3 and found that it cost almost twice as much to insure than an Audi RS4..even if I wanted to get an E46, insurance is way too much.
  11. What were the Italians thinking when they made that interior ?? The Lancia is an awesome car but unlike the Corrado, it has a dated look about it. So does the Audi S2 IMO. If you've ever been lucky enough to drive a Lancia, wooohoooo the car makes you feel good, fast and feels as if it's on rails when cornering. Evo - no way! Not denying the fact that it's a good car for street racing. ..but i'm not really a street racer! I think the Focus RS falls into this category, a little too aggressive for my liking. The Focus ST doesn't look as forward, even if it's in electric Orange. Mk5 GTI does offer an excellent all round package, if it wasn't for the MK6 I'd of bought the MK5. The MK6 seems to be put together a lot better but I guess that's the same with a lot of newer model cars. However, my budget can't stretch to MK6 money or I'd of bought an RS4 lol Practicality isn't really a major issue on a short term basis but I always buy my motors with a long term view..I would love the experience of owning a two seater but in the long-term I think I'd regret not having four seats. After some consideration I've taken a step forward in deciding that my new purchase will have four seats.
  12. I already have a Seat ibiza as my run around so not another seat.. Seat Leons a good car though and has lots of potential for remap...
  13. Tandino, thank you for your detailed response.. I adore the look of the Alfa, it's stunning.. I have driven the e46 M3 in coupe and cabrio form.. The coupe is a much better car to drive and I agree it's possibly the best overall package for my budget. It's just so common, for good reason I know.. I'd like to drive the Z3 M coupe ( bat mobile) less of them around but not sure if I can get one with my allowance.. A Z4 is also doable at 10k but never had a go in one..
  14. I don't think I'd go down the porsche route until I can afford a decent 911.. By 955 I'm guessing u mean 944.. Thanks for the advice. All suggestions/advice is appreciated.
  15. Do like the mk4 r32 and have driven a couple in the past, a natural upgrade from the Corrado I guess...
  16. Thanks for your suggestions conked..and the not senible option would be ?
  17. As it's a second car, there are no major requirements. I guess reliability is most important. Have considered a few Alfa's, the GTV 3.0 V6 is a great car but I don't want to be on the back of an RAC truck every 100 miles. I’m not overly keen on Japanese cars, admittedly they are very fast and lots of fun but there’s something about them I just don’t like. So no rice unless someone can convince me otherwise. .. I had access to a P1 for 2 weeks and wow, there is nothing I have ever driven that can out perform that car but I just can’t see myself owning one on a long term basis.
  18. E46 M3 - fantastic car and a great performer but the image is not for me.. I prefer the more understated Audi S4 but having driven both, the Audi fails to put you in touch with the road properly, whereas the M3 is far more exciting.. I would love to experience the RS4 but it's far too expensive at the mo. Anymore suggestions ?
  19. After 7 years of ownership, 60,000 miles, the most of which were full of smiles, me and my Corrado have parted. The end of an era. I hope the home my Storm has gone to gives her lots of tlc as the last year or so of neglect was just not fair on her so I had to let her go. I feel so devastated. A wise man once said that the best way to get over true heartache is to introduce something new into your life but I keep asking myself, what on earth could possibly replace the heartfelt relationship between me and my Corrado and there is no obvious answer. I have no doubt, one day I will own another Corrado but for now it’s time to say farewell and experience something new.....can anyone help? My budget for a second car isn't great but some help in making a decision would be good. Option 1 - limit myself at £5K and buy something that won’t cause me any financial difficulty (in other words, be sensible) Option 2 – up the limit to 10K and take on the burden of a loan (be me) Any suggestions would be good apart from another Corrado as that would be like spitting on the bonnet of my own Storm.

    Fog lights

I have these for sale, unfotunately, it's the driver side fog that's cracked on mine too.. everything is genuine hella. The plastic casing is cracked on one and the connecter is cut on the other, as per pic. £60 the lot.
  21. had exactly the same problem, The wiki fix that toad mentioned resolved the problem....few months later i had to change the matrix too, not an overly difficult job but one you want to do once only...doubt this is your problem but if you do decide to change the matrix at any point, in one of my threads I've posted a link to a website that sells the genuine matrix for approx £40..a lot better then VW which is £100 plus vat
  22. thanks colin, the car drives around 3k a year so not too fussed about the wear..
  23. this maybe incorrect info but I find that when I put 36psi in the front and 32psi on the rear, the car feels quite uncomfortable and doesn't handle as well...may need new shocks and/or better tyres but have found that lowering the tyre pressure to 30 all round seems to work well for a more comfortable drive...my car has not been lowered.
  24. GreenVR6 - My heater Matrix started to leak coolant resulting in a strong smell from the heater vents as well as wet carpet....anyways to cut a long story short, earlier today I took out the dash and removed the matrix. Have had a browse on the forum to find recommended replacements and it seems that it's best to buy the genuine part. I have found the following website selling the part and I think it could be the genuine Valeo matrix for a very reasonable price of £36.01 inc VAT & delivery. https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/h ... cordID=213 Hope this helps and good luck with the destruction.
  25. Dude, just stand back and look at your C.. it looks superb...how can you even consider getting rid of her over that red (joker) Golf..
