thanks for the advice man but i just got it checked out by quick fit engineers and he showed me that the wishbones are fine, instead when the previous mechanic replaced the top mount, he didnt put the shock back in properly and the spring seems to be far too close to the inside of the wing thereby hitting it whenever going over bumps, im gonna take it back to the mechanic who replaced the top mount and get my moneys worth! :x

hi woody i had to take it to the mechanic cos it made me cry :mad: every time i heard that clank, hes checking it out now and gonna let me know whats up with it v soon, ill keep you informed mate hi just got the call from the mechanic and aaarggghh he said that the wishbone is knackered on the near side and apparently it is the cause of the noises, apparently the one on the off side is also knackered a bit and so as suggested by him be replaced as well, he says that the wishbones cost about £75.00 each, then i asked him a about euro car parts he said that he had phoned them and they stock only the crappy ones about £35.00 each, alll in all its gonna cost me £170.00 altogether :shock: inlcuding labour, i think he's ripping me off so im gonna pick up the car and take it to another mechanic and get another opinion, what d'ya think folks??? Hi again just spoke to stealth racing he thinks it might be nut under engine mount, which may just need tightening....

lads i took it to another mechanic today he was recommended by a friend, he sounded like he knew his stuff he took it for a test drive and said that he thinks that the spring may be broken but not for sure, ill have to take it to him tommorrow morning and hell have a thorough inspection then, how much should i be paying him to fix this problem, if it is the case? Thanks guys 8)

can this be done at home? i have scuffed rims azev c's and would like to recondition them myself. how easy is it to do? Or where is the cheapest place i can take them to?? Thanks :D

i recently took my 1.8 16v to have it serviced at vw, they did all the work and said a whole lot more needed doing and quoted me a £1000 extra, so i took it to the local mechanic and he replaced the near side front ball joint for me (including some other work as well). The car used to and still clanks and clonks when it goes over a bump, i took it back to him and the mechanic who replaced the ball joint said that the shock needed replacing, i didn't believe him as when i pushed down on the car the suspension would stabilise it immediately, so i guessed it could be the top mount, i ordered a new one from eurocarparts, and got another mechanic to fit this today, however he didn't use any new bolts or nuts when putting the old suspension back together. Driving it after wards, i realised that the clanking sounding had gotten far more extensive, i hear these sounds when i turn to the left now and especially when i go over bumps. So i took it back to him again today and he had a 2nd look at it and said that it isn't the shock but we require new bolts for the ball joint. Are they chatting shite or do they know what they are talking about? Can anyone please shed some light on this matter? :cry:

hi guys my sunroof on the 1.8 16v ONLY tilits open and closes, yet doesn't seem to slide open i really really want to fix this myself as there is some really nice weather nowadays, does anyone know any good honest people that could do this for me and not charge me a bomb also, how difficult is this job to do, and what part(s) do i require. It seems as if, if something has snapped, it is on the passenger side as the drivers side tries to slide back for a split second yet the passenger side wont allow it, i know its some kind of cable guide, someone please help.. hi there i recently had the same problem with my 1.8 16valve, i realised that the o ring on the idle speed adjustment screw was totally knackered this needed replacing (cost £1.00 halford) but this didn't sort the problem out completely until i took off the isv and cleaned it out really really well with some engine degreaser spray. Now all my idling problems are sorted. CHEAP FIXES ARE GREAT!!! :wink:

blody hell i thought i got my motor cheap for £45 quid from some stupid breaker, but you my friend got it damn cheap!!! :shock: :shock: ; anyway the replacement of the motor is really easy if that is the problem. Good luck anyway

where can i get a replacement air filter element ? is it a different one to the usual air filters?

Hello everyone thankgod i found you people :D , i thought the only forum for corrados was the american one, anyway i recently bought a 1990 1.8 16v for 1500 it was in pretty tatty condition, still is but im planning to do it up slowly. the spoiler wasn't working and the common problem with the sunroof. Ive fixed the spoiler (replacement motor, cost me £40.00 to get hold of) but the sunroof need to get some cables. Ill be putting new 17" wheels rial vipers on and and replacing the standard shocks with bilstein shocks, soon. Im also looking to redo the whole interior at a later stage, possibly cream leather recaro's?? Please can anyone advise what sort of modifications cheap or expensive and quick or extensive i could do to improve the perfomance of the car, ideally increase the bhp??? Im not a mechanic and am new to modding and tuning but have alot of enthusiasm for it at the moment, if using abbreviations please could you elaborate as i may not understand some o them, i read a similar post but got confused and didnt understand much of it because of this reason. Oh yes another thing, are there any corrado gatherings/convention type things taking place somewhere close to london in the near future? id like to check one out big time!! Thanks alot :D
