hi, today i realised that my fan has stopped working for some odd reason?? where exactly is the sensor switch located did you replace yours? and did it do the trick? thanks

I recently did the moonroof conversion and soon afterwards the brake light fuse blew. Everytime i replaced it would blow out in a matter of seconds!! but then again i'm sure this happened to me once before i did the moonroof conversion. Where should i start looking for faults????

hi guys my 1.8 16v also has a leak in the same place as chucks (left corner) well oil could be this be the root of he high idling problem :?: i'm having after about 110 degrees mfa engine temp it starts idling at about 1500rpm??? thanks

hey man, yeah i got that sorted. I initially got the top mount replaced, after this the clanking got much much worser, so i took it back to the mechanics and realised that they hadn't put the shock back properly, the spring was hitting the inside of the wing!!! can you believe that... so i got them to take everything apart and put it all back together under my supervision... ha ha ha!! and guess this time they did it perfectly and no clanking... :D

hi everyone dunno if you read my recent post with the steaming engine, im going tommorow to pick it up from east putney, is there anyone living in and around that area that are free 2moro??? if anyone has a diagram of the engine vacuum hosing system, possibly from bentley manual cd or the book, could you please post this for me on the website, this will help me work out which vacuum hosing is leaking, and hopefully instruct the mechanic to replace it... Thanks

hi guys i took the car out for a long drive today, driving back from kingston and all of a sudden at a traffic light the endine starts to steam hardcore!!! this freaked me out big time, so i parked up and looked under the engine, water leaking like crazy. Luckily there was a garage about 50 yards away, was closed but security was there to help... he ckecked it out briefly topped up the coolant water cos it was empty (funny cos i topped it up about 2 weeks ago) and as we were doing this we could see water coming out where a peice of vacuum hosing attaches itself to the front of the engine somewhere!!!..left car there will go back tuesday to sort it out with mechanic...hope i dont have to replace the whole unit, could this happen due to a lack of coolant???? any advice much appreciated.. Thanks

anyone know of any mechanics in and around london that can do camber correction for me and dont charge too much??? how much would it cost to correct front passenger side wheel???? thanks

i finally decided to go retro and went to my local vw breakers and managed to get myself a vw passat glass sunroof, and fitted that instead!! ;D it tilts and slides open fine but when i close it from fully retracted it closes about halfway and then slows down and stops it then half to push and press the button to close it fully any ideas???? Will put pics up soon

vacuum hosing on rockers need replacing, can replace the using pencil rubber end. :D

Hi i thought is sorted out my sunroof as i replaced the vacuum hosing around the rocker, it began to slide as well as tilt but then closing from the fully retracted position was v slow, and scratched up the top of the roof. and then stopped closing altogether?????...so i decided to dismantle the whole sunroof, clean up the track regrease them and other components, but damn there's so many parts!!!! :shock: If anyone has a bentley manual or has the cd version could you please email me or put the relevant sunroof pages up on this forum, it would be very very much appreciated, as it would make the job of putting the sunroof back together much easier. Thanks

hi guys wondering if you could give a few words of advice, i have a 1.8 16v, i recently pulled out the air blower controls to see what was up because the windscreen demister wasn't working (no air), yet it would blow air through all the other vents, then when i put it all back together, all of a sudden the windscreen demister setting started working (ie: started blowing air), but when i change the setting to the air vents on the dash they've literally stopped blowing any air, even on setting 4???? Does anyone know why this may have happened????Could it be the thermal fuse on the resistor pack???? :cry:

hi guys im still having problems with the idling.. noticed that its fine until enigine temp reaches 110 degrees the engine fan comes on and then all of a sudden the rev counter goes up from 850rpm to 1500rpm, then if i gas it a bit, it'll stick at about 3000rpm (worrying) :shock: um ive replaced all the following broken dipstick cover, oil cap, knackered o ring around idle speed adjustment screw, cleaned the isv out with engine degreaser spray, wd40'd throttle cable, ive topped up on coolant levels as well yet it still doesn't seem to make any difference, i know the isv is working because it makes a buzzing sound when the engine is switched on. :cry: any thoughts??? Thanks

Hi jon ive got a 1.8 16 valve and im having pretty much the same problem as you mate but the only difference is that with mine, the engine starts to idle high (at about 1500rpm) as soon as the fan in the engine comes on after about 110 degrees engine temperature as read on the mfa, i havn't changed the idle switch or cable as i think these are fine, i've sprayed the cable with wd40 but no difference. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how i may solve it ?
