  1. Doesnt it also use the engine out of the S3 which is stronger....? I believe so, yes, but I was trying not to get too technical on Dr Forinor  Oi, wheesht you!!! I understand that much ye fecker!
  2. Whats the difference between the ED30 and any other Golf?
  3. I almost wanna buy it now!!! *goes in search for old Micras*
  4. Sorted, will leave the motor and sort out the cables! Thanks Kev!! :D
  5. And you're sure the cables are the cause of a distressed motor? And that you havent just been lucky with a special long-life motor? So really what you're saying is, leave the motor, dont open the casing, sort the cables and that should be it?
  6. So what about in regards to the motor itself? I assume that does need some sort of attention?
  7. The thing is, whenever I get the motor asembly, I will be making sure I take it apart and clean it before putting it in my car, as it makes sense to do it whilst it's out. What if the same happens again? Is the same likely to happy again? And funny you say that about the dealer prices, I enquired not too long ago and the reply I got was "we have no price as its not available any more".....
  8. I know I know this spoiler motor thing has been done to death but I cant find the answer I'm looking for. I finally got around to opening up the spoiler motor (after around 3 years of disconnecting it as it was straining to go up/down fully in the one go). Opened up the motor casing, gave both metal parts a tap on the ground to get rid of the loose dirt, only to find the carbon brushes just fell out. There is nothing left of the carbon brushes. Any ideas where I go from here? Can I buy these brushes? How hard would it be to fit these brushes to the connecting wires? Is it worth doing? Whilst I'm asking, the thermoswitch (the green bit I've read?), how does it come away? Does it just pull away? Any advice please?
  9. Update on the Kumho KU31's that I have on now. Have done more than 300miles on them so well bedded in. Good in both wet and dry, no nasty surprises, a little bit understeery (nothing major), fairly predictable although they don't inspire as much confidence as some more expensive tyres closer to the limit, but for how much they are, I really wouldnt complain. In fact I would certainly have them on my shortlist next time I need new tyres. I started off saying they felt "mushy" on turn-in, but that has now gone, I can gladly report :D They do feel more positive Bring on the next set of new tyres to be tested! 8)
  10. Yeh I know, dont remind me... :(
  11. Excellent, thanks a lot!! Ordered straightaway.
  12. Excellent, thanks for the replies, will get back to you all!
  13. Right, dont have access to the Corrado manual. Anyone able to tell me which it is? And where the fusebox is locating, (no laughing, I've never had to know so really haven't a clue where it is)
  14. Thats ok then. I just didn't want to get the turbo kit added on with Vince's remap only to find that Vince's remap would have done the job that the OBD2 would now do, if you get what I mean. Right, that's OBD2 on the ever-growing list now aswell!!!
  15. Ok, another question, if I am deciding to eventually go for Vince's turbo kit, is there is still a benefit in going for the OBD2 or not?
  16. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo: Erm, breakers/scrappies/forums it is then!!!! Shall keep a lookout! Cheers for the replies all!! 8)
  17. I know a lot already has been discussed, and I have looked through a good few threads but I couldnt find the specific answer to what I am looking for, please keep in mind, I'm a bit dumb when it comes to anything technical!! Patience with me please. I know what I need for conversion, what my question is, where did you guys go to get the parts? I'm assuming either scrappies or ebay? If we go ebay, how much should the limit be for everything? How much is it in total from the stealers?
  18. I have a Shrick, which I probably will remove for when I get the turbo, only thing is I'm not looking to get the turbo this year, it will be next year, which means I will have to resort to a non-shricked car for at least 10 months, hhhmmm.... :?
  19. Bloody hell mate! I take it thats not your daily driver?
  20. I bought it thinking I would use it only in good weather, being a classic and all sorts of stuff running through my head. But then I got to the stage where I thought I can't do it anymore, I used to limit the miles that I'd put on per week, but now I don't care. Its my daily car now anyway, for that reason that I wasn't going to keep it locked up for any reason. So whatever the weather, it comes out to play! In fact, half of the time, I enjoy it more when its raining or when the conditions are more challenging rather than dry cos you can have more of a play. The car is solid, its taken a HELL of a lot of abuse from me and its still standing strong. The car does need attention in terms of needing a really good wash but thats my own fault. Use it everyday mate, you know you want to! :norty:
  21. I have done 48k in my Storm in the 4yrs 9months I have had the car :) Just hit 111,000 miles today too :D
  22. Oil temps? Or water temps? Or both?
  23. My one the top two slats are closed but I have done a crappy job of opening them up till I get a hold of a proper Dremel tool set to do a decent job! I like my cooling thanking you :D
