  1. I had a Passat one in mine and it was a perfect colour match. Not sure if a Golf mk3 one is the same but early mk1 Octavia roofs work in the same way and would be an ideal match. Similarly with mk2 Ibiza's/Cordoba's too, although not sure about how good the colour match would be - would depend on the trim level I think.

Do you want me to grab a picture of it?

Yes please. Will 100% want the glass as step closer.

Things not looking too good at the moment

  2. I've got the glass from a Passat B4 moonroof if that's of use to you? Back in 2013 when I did my last VR6 project I ended up with a couple of moonroof systems and only used one in the end. I had this spare glass too and have no use for it now.

Just £10 plus the postage which I imagine will be around £15 so £25 altogether if you want it.

Can get a picture for you tomorrow.

Yes Please Tom, very interested in that :) Just the interior sun shader to sort but dont know if I need a mk3 one or a passat! ?

My sunroof is leaking quite badly now lol s

  3. The tube to the fpr is a bit perished - I wonder if that would be affecting the idle?

if its perished to the point its leaking vacuum, then yet it would.

I would also be checking for other vacuum leaks, as well as MAF.

  4. As above. Looking for Moon roof for upgrade.

I already have mk3 golf mech so ideally just looking for glass and slider but would consider full setup if b4 at the right price!

  5. From an outsider point of view it sounds madness that there was such a divide over giving out burgers :) sounds like the problems are deep-rooted within the current committee and need to resolve and move on and forget the past and rebuild.

Offering out food or what ever gives the perception of being approachable / friendly non-clicky but sounds like the perception is the exact opposite, price of a burger is nothing compared to potential interest and possible additional members (additional funds), if you are not seen as a friendly club then people wont want to join.

You cant live in the past and going over how things were / happened back then you just need to draw the line, change of admin team and move on if it still is a dividing issue amongst your current team - that's the message I am getting from reading the above comments.

Having events to closed members isn't ideal - When I organized the V6 festival for VR6OC everyone was welcome, and also those from other clubs / forums (we had nearly 100 cars there, this lead to increased traffic to website, increased membership numbers) - of course didn't cover fees of going on the track people had to pay for themselves, but if you have getting dwindling club members then that model no longer is sustainable and need to look at a more long term plan of survival.

Also on a side-note, remember Club VR6? they were around a long time before VR6OC, and were in a further advance decline than CCGB, there were a lot of internal politics and divides that pulled the club apart, operating from mailing-lists and old school ways of thinking, and even considered out dated way back in 2003!

    clubvr6.jpg

Well - VR6OC purchased what was left of the club and absorbed into VR6OC - Original announcement still online - https://www.vr6oc.com/club-vr6/announcement.html - Playing devils advocate here and if something that has been discussed in the past and that would be instead of folding up CCGB (never understood why it would focus on UK only, the world is a pretty big place!) it is instead absorbed by The-Corrado forum (the bigger entity), re-branded and something like The Corrado Club and give it a new lease of life.

Sounds like there are conflicts of interest with being involved with both clubs, especially when there has been such history which still looks to be a sore point for individuals involved.

It is hard to let go of something that has been so close to your heart for such a long time, I have thought about it myself in the past and handing over the reins, but have to resolve differences and move on, if you are unable to do that as a joined up committee and it then in turn impacts on the running of the club then someone has to make difficult decisions and think about making changes within the team, over the years I have I probably cycled through 3 - 4 new teams with the VR6OC to keep things fresh and if the team dynamic has changed, people cannot commit, moved on, lack of interest, doesn't have club bests interest at heart.

  6. Pete - What is the size of the operation for the VR6OC? As in how many of you are running it? Is it literally just you?

I have often admired how modern the VR6OC setup is and how active you guys seem and always wanted to know a bit more.

We are relatively small now a team of 5 as automated a lot of activities of which 3 are involved with day to day running and promotion of events etc... 2 are back office with memberships, merchandise but little effort required apart from popping membership packs in the post, our back end system even generates postal labels !

We make it fun, attend shows as a team, have a laugh as mates and that's what what it's about. We don't have a committee as such as its quite old fashioned way of thinking about things (what's app group works pretty well).

Being part and running a club is supposed to be enjoyable as its all done in our spare time so don't think of it as a business or organisation.

I'm an IT manager at work and applying the same thinking to running a club doesn't work Keep it simple, keep it fun for members and your team

  7. Can't remember who I was speaking to at Harewood at the weekend but I was saying how well the VR6OC is doing at the moment. Never used to go on there much but the app is really good and the Facebook posts do work well to grab people's attention. Well done mate

The CCGB has tried with the Facebook posting but although the content is good it's not very often. A CF app would be good, if I knew how to create one!

Cheers mate. It's been a big task and essentially stripped the club back to basics.

I noticed there is a fan page but worth setting up a group in addition to the fan page as User reach is comparably low unless you pay to "boost" posts.

Group is a good compromise. Also set up feeds to post new forum posts automatically to Facebook which helps drive traffic to the website.

The software was a big investment and months in the planning as the software I was using was over 10 years old and the web and the way we access content has changed slot since then :)

Our app is based on tapatalk API and uses a custom app / branding.

I'm working with the developers to implement new features and classifieds platform so can see it growing over time.

  8. Having been here already with the VR6 Owners Club and decreased interest in the club / shows etc.. in the past and running the club for the last 12 years +

CCGB needs to get with the times, the average age of owners is decreasing with younger owners all the time - think about that point..... magazines and forums are quite old hat these days and considered un-cool by younger folk.

    - Facebook: Like it or hate it you NEED to embrace it, I have now over 5.2k members on the VR6OC group, 22,992 followers of the facebook page, 2k Instagram followers, 2.6k followers on the classifieds group, 1k twitter followers - That's a lot of people and easily can drive traffic to VR6OC.COM and a lot of content I post is automated, post in a single place and it posts them to all.

    - Mail outs - Monthly mail-outs / newsletters is much more effective than magazines - if you are not publishing regularly (and it sounds like you are not) then members loose interest, and monthly updates is the way to go.

    - VR6OC Mobile App - As everyone has smart phones these days, I launched a VR6OC app on Android and iOS app store - This has had a massive improvement on visitor numbers, membership retention and interest in the club / events. Push notifications is KEY so is social networking integration - who wants to log on to a clunky website and check for content, push notifications push it direct to your phone - check it out for ideas, its based on Tapatalk API but I use my own branded white label app.

    - Forum Platform - The CCGB website / forum looks like 100 years old compared to modern forum applications - I invested heavily in a "platform for the future" and went with invision board 4.x - cutting edge in terms of community software.

The reason why CF does well is because its a niche forum and will always be popular for resources / help. but from an event point of view facebook and social media is the future, if you dont embrace it then you will simply vanish into the realms of history, especially when you see the number of so-called clubs popping up on facebook these days (often flash in in the pans) and people by nature follow new trends.

Don't get me wrong - membership has fallen to that of 10 years ago, accept that. You will never have that membership base again, the whole scene is different from what it was. we have adapted.

Down-sized the club, reduce cost of membership, reduce size of team / operations, embrace social media, invest in newer community software / build native apps for mobiles.

Not had any issues filling stands this last 2 years (asides from ultimate dubs in 2016 due to break downs, cars not finished) but its not easy and you have to work for it- the days of just posting a forum post and expecting people to see it / be interested are long gone. constant promotion, mail-outs, social media is the way to go to get the numbers on the shows, and get people to commit by buying tickets in advance of shows as they are less likely to drop out at the 11th hour.

Good luck :) but if you need any advise then git me up.

  9. not to be annoying but are OEM bushes not better than poly's for rear beam due to the nature of the 'flex' the rear setup is designed to give?

Vince @ Stealth recommended the powerflex bushes. They also much easier to fit as will be a DIY job at home with a trolley jacks.

Already have KW1 setup and quite firm - I like the handling. but there is quite a bit of movement in the bushes already so has to be better than what I have now and will still flex. Car is not a daily and does less than 3k miles a year and will be running the strip next year.

Not looking forward to the job to be honest as never had rear axel off yet. but least brake compensator and lines are new and associated suspension components.

  10. They seem to have changed the design of these powerflex bushes, mine had 3 grooves in them, which let water in and rotted out the mounting point on my axle.

You may want axle bolts and nuts to go with them.

Mine must be older stock then as doesn't have any grooves in them.

Do you have part numbers for associated bolts / nuts? Would prefer to replace.

Are rear bolts that hold subframe on stretch bolts ? also would like part number to those too.

  11. If i am not mistaken i think Julian may of already done this, He did mention he had put a post up about it yesterday

Thanks Pete thats good to know. We will also for you guys a forum discount if you want to contact me about it i will set it up for them to use. We are now listing a complete range for mk3 so anything to help. Drop me a mail [email protected]

  12. Hi All

We have worked at Heritage with Julian who h as a VR6 corrado here to re produce these backing plates for 280/288mm brakes.

They for Corrado VR6 models and Mk3 Golf GTI and VR6 models.

Julian is going to check the fit on his car with one set, Would anyone like to test fit the other set? My only ask is that you post photos in this thread afterwards.

@Annavr6 - Would recommend sticking on www.vr6oc.com as I'm sure many people would be interested in these items for VR6 variants! feel free to promote any other offers from heritage as I send people your way all the time !

  13. I am looking at using a golf mk3 mech as the Passat B3 / B4have same fragile mech as the Corrado.

I planned on then using the Passat B3 / B4 moon roof glass - Which I believe should bolt straight up to this mech (if anyone can confirm either way that would be great!)

My only remaining question then is what sun shade / slider should I be using? that from a Passat B4 (preferred as looks better than B3!) or the one from the Golf?

Any tips for removing head lining without damaging appreciated ! :)

    Pete

  14. I believe it was from a mk3 golf but it fit in mine fine

Should be a part number on it? Can you check please? Mk3 glass not suitable for Corrado as doesn't follow the contour of the roof.
